Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a puzzle game with the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • Puzzles of the type mentioned are known to almost everyone, they exist in the form of flat, two-dimensional design and recently in three-dimensional form, for example in spherical form.
  • jigsaw puzzles which make up the majority of all jigsaw puzzles
  • the individual jigsaw pieces are produced by a punching process and therefore have more or less play in the assembled state along the connecting edge of the individual jigsaw puzzle pieces.
  • many conventional two-dimensional jigsaw puzzles can not be lifted in the assembled state because individual jigsaw pieces disengage when attempting to lift.
  • Three-dimensional, self-supporting puzzles in which the entirety of the puzzle pieces in the assembled state results in a hollow body, such as a ball.
  • the individual puzzle pieces are usually made of plastic by injection molding.
  • self-supporting means that the resulting after assembly of the puzzle pieces hollow body does not have a separate support structure on which the puzzle pieces are to be attached or on which they are supported.
  • there is no play on the connecting edges of the individual puzzle pieces as in the aforementioned two-dimensional puzzle game but the individual puzzle pieces are made so that their joining results in a more or less strong clamping effect.
  • varies the force required to assemble the individual puzzle pieces In particular, towards the end of the puzzle, when almost all the puzzle pieces have been joined together, the insertion of the last pieces of the puzzle requires too much force.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a puzzle in which the individual puzzle pieces themselves, regardless of whether it is a two-dimensional or a three-dimensional puzzle game, stabilize themselves in the assembled state.
  • the individual puzzle pieces are not based more or less randomly, but rather in a precisely defined manner.
  • the invention makes use of the fact that practically all puzzles for connecting the individual puzzle pieces are provided with projections or lugs and corresponding recesses or indentations, each having undercut areas. These undercut areas are used by appropriate training to pull two assembled puzzle pieces towards each other.
  • the inventive, special embodiment facing each other peripheral edge portions is further ensured that the generated by the contact of the puzzle pieces in the region of the undercut, the aforementioned force leads to a contact of opposing peripheral edge portions only in places that are far from the connection region with its undercut or its undercuts are removed, preferably as far as possible.
  • a force triangle is generated in this way between each two assembled puzzle pieces, which has the region of the undercut and the contacting peripheral edge portions as vertices and the two puzzle pieces stable yet easily releasably secured together.
  • Puzzles according to the invention are therefore self-stabilizing and self-supporting.
  • the contact between an extension and the associated recess in the region of the or each undercut is further formed so that each extension can be inserted both from above and from below into the associated recess.
  • the solution according to the invention can be applied to two-dimensional jigsaw puzzles in which the individual puzzle pieces are flat, but just as well in all types of three-dimensional jigsaw puzzles in which the individual jigsaw pieces can be curved flat or differently.
  • Completely new, not yet realized in self-supporting jigsaw puzzles such as bridges can be realized according to the invention, because between the contact points of the facing peripheral edge pieces of all puzzle pieces of a puzzle form lines of force that span the puzzle in the assembled state and hold together stably.
  • a twist or deflection of larger, out of a variety individual puzzle pieces trained areas occurs according to the invention no longer or no longer disturbing extent, as well fall individual pieces of the puzzle no longer alone from the puzzle piece.
  • the peripheral edge pieces on which puzzle pieces to be joined contact each other immediately adjacent corners of the puzzle piece or adjacent such corners.
  • edge course between the top and bottom of the puzzle piece is defined by the bisector defined in claim 1, followed in preferred embodiments substantially the entire edge contour between the top and bottom of the puzzle piece this bisector to maximize the contact area over which two opposite circumferential edge pieces abut each other.
  • the edge course near the upper side and / or lower side may be different, for example rounded.
  • edge course of the peripheral edge pieces contacting one another has to be flat in cross section, at least in a partial region of its extension, this is not a necessary condition for the course in the circumferential direction.
  • edge course of the peripheral edge pieces may be curved convexly or concavely in the circumferential direction, and also wave-like and bending edge courses are possible.
  • edge profile of the peripheral edge pieces in the circumferential direction may also be flat. This latter embodiment is less expensive to manufacture and therefore advantageous.
  • a plurality of peripheral edge pieces may be arranged in the circumferential direction next to each other, either immediately adjacent to each other or separated by gaps. If a plurality of juxtaposed circumferential edge pieces are present, then the individual peripheral edge pieces can be at different levels, ie they can protrude to different extents and / or be more or less far away from the top as seen in cross section. Leave by such embodiments of the peripheral edge pieces In the case of particularly critical areas of a puzzle which require particularly high stability, additional, stability-promoting toothing effects can be realized.
  • the contact in the region of each undercut, which provides together with the contact points on the peripheral edge pieces for bringing together assembled puzzle pieces is approximately punctiform or at least of small extent in the circumferential direction of the edge of a recess or an extension in preferred embodiments of the puzzle according to the invention.
  • Such approximately punctiform contact points in the region of an undercut do not disturb the usability of an extension in a recess or vice versa and are sufficient as supporting points for the formation of the described power triangle completely.
  • a single, preferably approximately punctiform contact point in the region of an undercut is already sufficient to form the said triangle of force together with the other contact points on the peripheral edge pieces.
  • two such contact points in the region of an extension or a recess are used, one on each side of the extension or of the recess, in each case in the region of an undercut.
  • the force application is symmetrical and thus more uniform.
  • more than two preferably point-shaped contact points in the undercut area can be used.
  • each punctiform contact is realized by a protrusion extending from the peripheral edge of the recess or extension, which is formed integrally with the respective puzzle piece, for example, in the case of puzzle pieces made by injection molding.
  • the protrusion or protrusions do not extend to the top and / or bottom of the recess or extension so that they are not visible to the naked eye from the top and / or bottom in the assembled state of the puzzle pieces. In any case, these projections can be made so small that they are not recognized by a normal user of the puzzle.
  • each projection may be associated with a corresponding recess in the opposite edge of the extension or the recess. Without the corresponding recess each projection causes a preferably punctiform clamping between an extension and the associated recess, whereas this clamping effect with a corresponding recess Although also occurs, but still by a perceptible when assembling the puzzle pieces catching is added and results in a particularly precise joining of the puzzle pieces.
  • the haptic quality of the puzzle process is increased in this way, because a player is taught the feeling exactly and with a defined amount of effort in matching puzzle pieces.
  • the individual puzzle pieces of a puzzle game according to the invention are preferably made of plastic, but the present invention is not limited to plastic puzzle pieces.
  • the puzzle pieces may also be made of metal, such as aluminum, or wood. It is also conceivable that the puzzle pieces are made of a sufficiently stable cardboard material.
  • the puzzle pieces may be multi-layered and the individual layers may be made of different materials.
  • each puzzle piece may have a core of cardboard material which is coated on the top and / or bottom with plastic, such as by means of a plastic film. Other material combinations are also conceivable.
  • the individual puzzle pieces of a puzzle game according to the invention are made of plastic, then these parts are preferably made by plastic injection molding. Obtained in this way very dimensionally accurate, stable puzzle pieces with reasonable production costs.
  • the puzzle pieces are made of a metal, then the metal should preferably be castable in order to also be able to produce the individual puzzle pieces by means of an injection molding process, for example by means of an aluminum die-casting process. Depending on the material selected for the puzzle pieces, stamping methods for their production may alternatively be used.
  • Figure 1A shows an example of a puzzle piece 10 with a top 12 and only in the sectional view of the example FIGS. 2 to 4 visible bottom 14. Between the top 12 and the bottom 14 extends defined by the material thickness of the puzzle piece 10, circumferential edge 16, from which here two marked by dashed lines connecting portions 18 extend.
  • One connecting region 18 has the shape of a recess 19 extending into the puzzle piece 10, while the other connecting region 18 has the shape of an extension 20 extending away from the puzzle piece 10.
  • the circumferential edge 16 running around the puzzle piece 10 is not part of the connecting areas 18, only the edge sections belonging to a recess 19 or an extension 20 are attributable to the respective connecting area 18.
  • Both the recess 19 and the extension 20 are executed in the example shown, each with two undercuts 21.
  • Each recess 19 and each extension 20 corresponds in an adjoining puzzle piece a correspondingly formed extension or a correspondingly formed recess, so that two adjoining puzzle pieces 10 can be connected to each other by joining the connecting portions 18 together. It is understood that a plurality of recesses 19 and / or extensions 20 can be present on a puzzle piece 10 and that their shape can be different in each case.
  • a two-dimensional surface or a hollow body such as a cube, a sphere, a pyramid, an octahedron, a cuboid, a heart, a bear or a other animal or even a building.
  • the straight line ⁇ extends from an upper end point 26 of the in FIG. 2 left puzzle piece 10 associated peripheral edge 16 of the two facing peripheral edges 16 to an upper end point 27 of an opposite peripheral edge 16 thereof, in FIG. 2 the left-hand puzzle piece 10.
  • the straight line ⁇ runs from an upper end point 28 on in FIG FIG. 2 right puzzle piece 10 to an upper end point 30 of the same puzzle piece.
  • the two straight lines ⁇ and ⁇ defined by the upper end points 26 and 27 as well as 28 and 30 form the surface angle ⁇ between them and intersect on the bisector ⁇ of this surface angle ⁇ .
  • the boundary of the facing, touching Peripheral edge pieces 24 of the two puzzle pieces 10 follows between the upper side 12 and the lower side 14 of the associated puzzle piece 10 of the angle bisector ⁇ .
  • FIG. 3 is a section through two contiguous, curved puzzle pieces 10 of different size reproduced.
  • the edge profile of the contacting peripheral edge pieces 24 between the top 12 and the bottom 14 of the associated puzzle piece 10 is determined by two straight lines ⁇ and ⁇ , which as described above emanate from the upper end point 26 and 28 and in deviation from FIG. 2 extend to a maximum 32 on the convexly curved top 12 in the direction of an opposite peripheral edge 16 of the same puzzle piece.
  • the bisector ⁇ of the surface angle ⁇ formed between the two straight lines ⁇ and ⁇ determines the edge course in the peripheral edge pieces 24 of the facing peripheral edges 16 between the tops 12 and the bottoms 14 of the puzzle pieces 10.
  • Curved puzzle pieces 10 do not necessarily have a full extension over their entire extent It is advantageous to define the straight lines ⁇ and ⁇ by the maximum 32 closest to the facing peripheral edges 16 on the upper side 12 of curved puzzle pieces 10.
  • FIG. 4 shows a section through two adjacent puzzle pieces, of which the left puzzle piece 10 is curved and the right puzzle piece 10 is flat.
  • the straight line ⁇ is determined in accordance with FIG FIG. 3 in the case of the flat puzzle piece 10, on the other hand, the straight line ⁇ is determined in accordance with FIG FIG. 2 ,
  • the edge profile in the cross-sectional direction along the peripheral edge portions 24 of the peripheral edge portions 22, 23 set almost arbitrarily shaped puzzle pieces 10 so that always an exact and well together supporting fit between the puzzle pieces is guaranteed.
  • the peripheral edge 16 is only the edge of the puzzle piece main body that the previously stated design rules do not apply to the located in the connecting portions 18 part of the peripheral edge.
  • FIG. 1B which shows in plan view an enlarged view of two nested connecting portions 18 of two adjoining puzzle pieces 10, will now be the design rule for the edges of Connection areas 18 explained.
  • a small gap 34 exists between the extension 20 and the corresponding recess 19, a small gap 34, resulting from the fact that in the connecting region 18, the circumference of an edge 36 of each extension 20 is slightly smaller than the circumference of an edge 38 of the adjacent puzzle piece 10th with the extension 20 corresponding recess 19.
  • the size of the gap 34 is exaggerated. In reality, the gap size will be chosen so that the gaps 34 do not interfere with the assembled puzzle and are ideally imperceptible to the naked eye.
  • two projections 40 are present, which here extend from the edge 36 of the extension 20 and are in approximately point-like contact with the opposite edge 38 of the recess 19.
  • Each projection 40 is here approximately hemispherical and engages in a formed in the edge 38, dome-shaped recess 42 (see also the sectional view in FIG FIG. 5 ).
  • the two projections 40 are arranged opposite each other on the extension 20 at a position at which the undercuts 21 of the extension 20 begin.
  • each projection 40 is seen in the cross-sectional direction formed only in a central region of the edge 36, as well each recess 42 in the edge 38.
  • the formed from projection 40 and associated recess 42, approximately punctiform detent connection is therefore from the top 12 or the bottom 14th the puzzle pieces 10 practically not visible. This is true even if as in FIG. 5 shown the edges of the recess 19 and the extension 20 is not sharp, but executed rounded.
  • FIG. 6A shows in plan view, FIG. 6B on average, five planar, along a direction L interconnected puzzle pieces 10, the connecting portions 18 and facing peripheral edge portions 22 and 23 are formed as previously with reference to FIGS. 1A and 1B explained.
  • FIG. 6B shows in particular FIG. 6B in that the composite of the five puzzle pieces 10 does not increasingly bend or even break apart in a direction x as in the case of conventionally executed puzzle pieces, but extends in a self-supporting manner in the manner of a cantilever without recognizable deflection in a straight line. This is achieved by the in FIG. 6A indicated power line network, which results due to the mutual jamming of the individual puzzle pieces 10 at the predetermined contact points and the puzzle piece composite stabilizes excellent.
  • FIG. 7 shows in plan view four as previously described puzzle pieces 10, which are assembled into a flat, substantially square surface. Again, the illustrated network of lines of force between the individual pieces of the puzzle 10, which spans the puzzle piece in the composite state of all puzzle pieces and provides excellent stability at the same time very good puzzleability.
