Definitions

  • This invention relates to a surface polishing device for automobile tires. More concretely, this invention relates to a polishing device capable of a polishing with eye observations of a polishing position and polishing amount.
  • Automobile tires especially studless tires for winter season, are often disposed as wastes when gripping performance on iced roads decreases by deterioration or deformation of rubber at the circumferential grounding surfaces, even though those still have enough tread heights and are usable.
  • the inventor had developed a tire outer-circumferential-surface polishing device for retrieving gripping force by polishing a tire surface, and proposed the invention described in Japanese Publication No. 2005-186195 .

  • a sanding belt 11 is tensed across a belt driving pulley 12 and a tail pulley 13 endlessly.
  • the sanding belt 11 is driven by the belt driving pulley 12 endlessly.
  • the tire retainer 30 is formed of a soft or hard roller, or a board provided just beneath the upper portion of the sanding belt 11.
  • the tire holder 30 has a tire driving motor 32 capable of elevating.

  • the invention described in Japanese Publication No. 2005-186195 has the merit that the grounding surface (tread) of a tire can be polished efficiently at a time, because the sanding belt for polishing is formed larger than width of the tire surface.
  • wear out of a tire may take place only at a center portion, inversely only at both sides, or only at one side.
  • the device of Japanese Publication No. 2005-186195 has a difficulty in polishing for such a partial wear-out, not suiting for polishing to correct such a partial wear-out.

  • the polishing device of this invention is also characterized by that; the oscillation angle restriction means of the polishing belt is composed of an arch-shaped hole provided in the base and a cam follower provided on the belt frame, the cam follower is engaged in the arch-shaped hole, being joined thereby, the cam follower is pinched by pinch links fitted on the base by fitting pins, and free ends of the pinch links are plunged to be closer to each other.
  • the polishing device of this invention polishes a tire, as the polishing belt under a high speed rotation is pressed onto the tire surface by the fluid-pressure cylinder, and as the polishing belt is moved to the width direction of the tire by a manual operation. Because the tire surface is polished under an eye observation, the invention has the effect that the gripping force of a tire, especially a winter tire, can be increased by retrieving an adequate roughness of the surface without polishing it excessively. In addition, it has the effect that an uneven abrasion where a tire (not limited to a summer tire) is worn out partially can be repaired easily to retrieve the original configuration.

  • the invention Because during polishing a tire the polishing belt is moved downward by the belt driving motor provided the belt frame, the invention has the effect that chips produced in the polishing can be collected easily.
  • the vertical basis rod connects the belt frame having the polishing belt thereon and the base plunged toward the tire.
  • the belt frame and the vertical basis rod as a turning axis are directed to an ordinate direction whereas the belt driving motor rotating the polishing belt is directed laterally. Therefore, the invention also has the effect that imbalance of weight is canceled to enable the belt frame to be rotated freely around the vertical basis rod, thereby enabling a more easily polishing of a tire corner.
  • the invention because the second link and the third link forming a parallelogram are connected to the first link as well as connected to the base, the surface of the base facing the tire is directed consistently. Therefore, the invention also has the effect that the surface of the polishing belt can be contacted consistently onto the tire.
  • the invention also has the effect that the handle and the first link can be rotated to the same direction, thereby making a polishing more easier.

  • the driving pulley 22 is fitted on the belt frame 31.
  • a rotation rod of the driven pulley 23 is connected to a cylinder unit 25.
  • the cylinder unit 25 utilizes air pressure and is provided on the belt frame 31.
  • the cylinder unit 25 coordinates a tension applied to the polishing belt 21 by altering the inter-axis distance of the driving pulley 22 and the driven pulley 23.

  • a plunge means to plunge the polishing belt 21 from the backside to the front side is built in.
  • the belt presser roller 24 is used selectively.
  • Tires have various figures in cross section, depending on kinds thereof. For example, if a tire to be polished has a gentle elliptic figure in cross section, a fine finish of polishing is rather enabled without using the belt presser roller 24. However, if a tire has a nearly linear shape at the center in cross section, the tire is not polished without pressing the polishing belt 21 strongly. In this case, therefore, the belt presser roller 24 is needed to press the polishing belt 21 strongly during the polishing. Some tires have depressions at centers in cross section. In this case, a fine-finish polishing is enabled by using the belt presser roller 24 as well.
