It is an object of the present invention to provide a knit comprising threads of an electrically conductive material which is biaxially conductive but which also has great elasticity in at least one direction as desired. It is also an object of the present invention to provide a knitted fabric with which a biaxial electrical conductivity can be achieved with a significant reduction in the silver content of the fabric.

- a conductive thread preferably metallized PA (polyamide) or PES (polyester) yarns or conductive polymers, or used with these yarns wound elastomeric thread. Again preferred is silver-plated PA because of its antibacterial properties and good entangleability. Also in non-conductive yarn PA and PES is preferred, or with PA or PES wound elastomer thread.

- the surface resistivity of the unstretched fabric in the longitudinal and transverse directions is less than 10 ohms.
- the specific surface resistance was determined on unstretched 150 x 150 mm large, flat patterns of the knitted fabric. For this purpose, the respectively opposite edges of the pattern were clamped in longitudinal or transverse direction by means of 4 tinned copper blocks of the dimension 150 x 12 x 5 mm, so that a free width of the textile pattern of 126 mm results. To get back to the surface resistivity of the square pattern, multiply the obtained value by 150/126. To measure the volume resistance, a volt voltmeter type VC333 was used.
- the fabric according to Fig. 1 consists of rows of electrically non-conductive yarn 1, between which rows of electrically conductive yarn 2 are knitted.
- Fig. 2 shows an alternative knit fabric, in which the floats sections 3 of the electrically non-conductive yarn 1 are guided over two stitches and, accordingly, two enlarged stitches 2 "of the electrically conductive yarn until to the next row of electrically conductive yarn 2 range.
