- the invention is based on a washing machine laundry drum which is designed for high-speed dewatering of wet laundry and has a circumferential drum jacket which is bent from a thin-walled material strip into a cylinder in such a way that the parallel end edges of the material strip touch in a connecting seam.
- Such a laundry drum is known from EP 0 395 859 B1.
- This laundry drum shows a commonly used connecting seam in which the end edges of the drum jacket strip are bent and hooked into one another and are shaped by an additional offset so that the hooked end edges cannot separate from one another.
- Clothes drums with such a connection seam are suitable for high-speed endwashing with spin speeds of up to 1000 rpm.
- EP 0 395 859 B1 also proposes to provide the connecting seam with bead-like embossments lying transversely to it, in order to make the seam so stable that such shaped laundry drums are suitable for spin revolutions of up to approximately 1500 rpm.
- additional measures must be taken to prevent the tensile forces in the drum jacket from becoming large enough to prevent the folded and embossed connecting seam from tearing open.
- the object of the invention is to provide a connecting seam in a laundry drum of the type mentioned at the outset which can withstand jacket tensile forces which occur at speeds above 1500 rpm without additional effort.
- this object is achieved in that the end edges have a crenellated toothing, the tooth flaps of which engage in the tooth gap of the opposite end edge in such a way that the base lines of the tooth gaps abut one another form at least approximately a straight line and the toothed flaps lie in the toothless area of the end edge of the drum outward over the material strip and are firmly connected to the area there.
- a connection seam designed in this way is suitable due to the arrangement of numerous tooth flaps to achieve high stability via the numerous connections between the tooth flaps and the area, which can withstand up to 4 times higher jacket tensile forces than with prior art laundry drums.
- the invention is advantageously further developed in that the toothed flaps are cranked outward from the drum by the wall thickness of the material strip. As a result, the toothed flaps that overlap the toothless area only apply to the outside of the drum shell.
- connection between the toothed flap and the toothless region is shown in a further development of the invention from at least one rivet each between the region and the overlying flap.

- the connecting seam 5 is formed in FIG. 2 from interlocking tabs 6 and 7 which rest on the outside of the drum in the toothless region 8 or 9 of the drum casing.

- 4 shows the joined seam 5 seen from the inside of the drum casing 2. It can be seen that all toothed flaps 6 and 7 come to lie outside the drum shell and the inside remains completely smooth except for the rivet 10.
- the rivets 10 according to FIG. 5 can also be designed such that they do not apply to the inside of the drum casing 2.
- the tubular rivets are formed from a tubular bulge in the area 8 or 9, which extend through a hole 12 in the tab 6 or 7 and are bent behind the tab.

- the connecting seam 5 does not necessarily have to be at right angles to the side edge of the drum shell 2. However, it will have to be tested whether an asymmetrical configuration of the tooth flaps is better suited when the connecting seam 5 is inclined than the symmetrical design shown here.
