Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for applying a solid, disintegrable product, presented in the form of a stick and mounted sliding in a case.
- This product solid is, for example, a stick of colored or colorless lip product, background complexion, eye shadows, blush or a dermatological stick for selective treatment of certain parts of the affected skin or lips.
- the invention relates to a particularly suitable application device for sticks comprising in particular water or volatile constituents such as volatile silicone or hydrocarbon oils.
- such a lipstick stick applicator comprises a case tubular in which is mounted a stick-holding cup, capable of sliding axially in the case, the base of the stick of disintegrating solid product being engaged in the cup.
- a lipstick applicator comprises, in addition, drive means, for example a rotary wheel, by which the user can slide the cup in the case to bring out or retract the stick at will. After using the applicator, it is closed to using a cap kept attached to the case.
- the breakable solid product contains, among other constituents, compounds volatile such as alcohol or volatile hydrocarbon or silicone oils, or even water
- compounds volatile such as alcohol or volatile hydrocarbon or silicone oils, or even water
- certain constituents of the solid product can be sensitive to oxygen and their degradation may adversely affect the properties of the product. he it is therefore desirable to reduce or even prevent the contact of the product stick with ambient air.
- the applicator is closed, that is to say when it is not not used, it is therefore necessary to reduce the volume of air in contact with the stick product in the holster and maintain that reduced volume of air constantly airtight to prevent the renewal of air in the reduced volume.
- patent US-A-5,533 823 describes an applicator as defined previously provided, in one end closed of the cap, of a bellows-shaped sealing sleeve.
- the end free of the bellows defines a sealing surface intended to cover the end opened from the case when the applicator is closed by the cap kept fixed on the case.
- the bellows allows only an axial movement of compression or expansion of the sleeve and the sealing surface can only move according to this axial direction.
- the bellows must be compressed evenly over its entire periphery which requires the free end of the bellows is well supported on the open end from the case.
- the cap must be properly positioned on the case when closing of the latter by the cap.
- the cap When the user closes quickly the applicator, the cap is not necessarily correctly positioned on the case and the free end of the bellows does not rest on the entire open end of the case. The bellows does not compress properly and the seal is not provided satisfactorily over the entire periphery of the open end of the case.
- cases do not necessarily have an opening whose edge defines a plane perpendicular to the axis of the case: this edge may have undulations or define a plane having an inclination relative to the axis of the case.
- the bellows described in patent US-A-5,533,823, does not compress in such a way that its free end follows these particular profiles: it is therefore not suitable for sealingly close case openings having these particular profiles.
- the contact of the free end of the bellows and the open end of the case is not airtight and volatile products that may be present in the product stick.
- the aim of the present invention is to propose a solid product applicator disintegrable, which is perfectly sealed, in particular to the volatile components of the product, whatever the profile of the open end of the case. Another goal is to offer an economically advantageous sealing system that is simple to install in place.
- the block of cellular material used to make the sealing means of the opening of the case thanks to its alveolar constitution and its deformation properties elastic, adapts perfectly to the deformation created by the support of the sealed face of said block of cellular material on the edge of the opening of the case. he thus allows good support of the sealed face on this edge and the sealed face perfectly fits the profile of said edge ensuring a perfect seal of the opening of the case whatever the profile of this edge. Furthermore, such a sealing means provides good sealing whatever the angular position of the cap relative to the case.
- the sealed face of the first sealing means may be able to deform so that, when the cap is fixed on the case, the bearing area of the face watertight on the free edge of the case has an annular recess.
- this recess may have a profile, in a section along a plane parallel to the axis of the case.
- the deformation of the annular recess, measured along this axis can range from approximately 5/100 th of mm to 5 mm, preferably from 0.1 mm to 3 mm and more preferably from 0.5 mm to 2 mm.
- the case may include a second end opposite the free edge of the first end, a second sealing means sealing between the stick and the second end.
- the case comprises an internal surface and the second sealing means may comprise a member located under the cup, with which it moves axially, said member being capable of rubbing tightly against the internal surface of the case. .
- the device can comprise an internal skirt having at least one axial lumen passing through said skirt, said skirt being mounted to rotate freely inside an envelope provided with a internal surface comprising at least one helical groove, capable of receiving at less a lug carried by the cup, through said axial lumen, the means being able to drive the internal skirt in rotation relative to the envelope.
- the second sealing means can have a seal placed near the second end, between the envelope and the internal skirt.
- the case of the device can comprise a sheath, the cup comprising a central rod carrying a thread external, the drive means being able to cause the rotation of the rod relative to the sheath.
- the second means seal may include a seal disposed between the cup and the sleeve.
- the sealed face of the first sealing means can be deformable depending on at least one axis substantially parallel to the axis of the case, so as to fit perfectly the relief of the edge of the opening of the case. It can also be bi-axially deformable, that is to say in at least two directions, one of the directions being able to be substantially parallel to the axis of the case, the other direction can be substantially perpendicular to this axis.
- the sealed face held on the block of cellular material, may have a surface having any kind of profile not affecting the sealing function of the waterproof face.
- the surface can be flat in a plane that is perpendicular, either inclined with respect to the axis of the case, or else the surface can be concave or convex.
- the waterproof face perfectly matches the edge of the opening of the case, it presents therefore good flexibility.
- the upper part of the lipstick stick B will be in contact with the sealed face of the first sealing means according to the invention.
- the face waterproof being flexible, it deforms by following the shape of the part of the stick in contact and the stick is not damaged.
- the first means of sealing keeps the shape of the lipstick stick, thus avoiding any aesthetic degradation of the stick when the device is actuated while being closed.
- the sealed face of the first sealing means must be sealed to the product, that is to say that it does not allow the passage of volatile products which emanate from the stick of product housed in the case of the device.
- this may be a membrane of material alveolar with closed cells to impart watertightness to the membrane.
- the alveolar material of the membrane can be identical to that of the block cellular material; in this case, the membrane can be an integral part of the block of foam material.
- the sealed face may be a membrane made of a material different from the cellular material of the foam material block. The membrane can be fixed on the block of material alveolar by any means of fixation known to those skilled in the art, and in particular by gluing or welding.
- the block of cellular material has a first section and the sealed face of the first sealing means has a second section, measured along a plane perpendicular to the axis of the case, the first section possibly be, at least over part of the axial height of the block, less than or equal of the second section thus allowing good maintenance of the sealed face by the block of foam material.
- the first and second sections can be any shape and in particular in triangular, square, polygonal and circular.
- the largest of the first or second sections can be substantially equal to the internal section of the cap or occupy only part of the internal section of the cap.
- an annular space can be provided between the first sealing means and the internal surface of the cap.
- This volume has the advantage of leaving a free space to allow the block of material alveolar and with the sealed face deforming in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of the case, facilitating the ability of the sealed face and the block of foam material to deform to ensure a tight closure of opening the case.
- this annular space allows the passage of the solvent in the direction of the product.
- the block of cellular material may have a section, located in a parallel plane to the axis of the case, of any shape, and in particular of straight, trapezoidal shape or reverse bitrapezoidal (or diabolo).
- the block of foam material of the first sealing means can be made by one or more parts, each part of the block of cellular material possibly be of the same or different foam material. So the first way sealing may consist of an axial stack of different blocks of material cellular may have density characteristics, and / or thickness, and / or of different nature. Alternatively, the different blocks of material alveolar are arranged concentrically.
- the alveolar material of the block and the closed cell membrane constituting the sealing face can be chosen, independently of one another, from among polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, polyether foams, silicone.
- the membrane constituting the waterproof face can also be a film chosen from among the plastic films, aluminum films, complex metal-plastic films, ceramic-plastic films, leather.
- the plastic film can be chosen among elastomers, polyethylenes, Ikes polypropylenes, EVA, or the EVOH.
- the invention also relates to a lipstick applicator comprising a device as previously described.

- the sealed face 20 of the first sealing means 18 is in sealed contact with the inclined edge 14a and the block of foam material 19 deforms so that it adapts perfectly to the inclined shape of the open end of the orifice 16. Compression of the block of material honeycomb 19 is not the same at all points of said block of honeycomb material.
- the area 19d of the block of cellular material 19 in contact with the zone 14b of edge 14a undergoes greater compression than that of zone 19th of the block of cellular material 19 which is in contact with the zone 14c of the edge 14a.
- the honeycomb structure of the honeycomb block 19 allows compressions different within the same block of cellular material 19 and provides good retention of the sealed face 20 in contact with the inclined edge 14a. So despite the inclination of the opening 16 of the case 1, the tightness of the volume containing the product stick is well insured. Such a seal could not be obtained with a bellows device of the type described in US-A-5,533,823 previously discussed.

Abstract
