Definitions
- the subject of the invention is a carousel winder for winding a product in a band on one or the other at least two winding mandrels.
- Tape production facilities metallic generally include several sections having different functions, such as hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, and finishing.
- a winder comprising a mandrel consisting of a shaft rotated around its axis and on which can be fixed, removably, the end of the strip.
- the mandrel extends overhang from a frame carrying the drive means in rotation of the mandrel and is provided with a system allowing shrink it to allow removal of the spool.
- the strip is kept under tension to tighten the turns.
- the coil When the coil reaches the desired diameter, corresponding to a certain strip length, it is removed from the mandrel.
- each of the chucks By orienting the rotating frame, you can place each of the chucks in at least two positions successive. In a first starting position of the winding, the end of the strip is fixed on the mandrel and we control the rotation of it to wind the strip over a number of turns. Then, by rotating the rotating chassis, we bring the first mandrel being wound up in a second position allowing the complete winding of the strip. At the same time, by the rotation of the rotating chassis, the second mandrel comes stand by in the first starting position.
- the first mandrel is then released and can return, by rotation of the chassis, in the first position of start-up.
- the second mandrel, on which have been wound the first turns is placed in the complete winding position.
- the winder could include three mandrels placed successively, by rotation of the chassis, in a first start position, a second full winding position and a third position of unloading.
- each mandrel expands, normally, cantilevered, from the rotating chassis so as to allow the withdrawal of the wound coil by axial sliding towards the side opposite to the chassis.
- the coil being very heavy, it is preferable, during winding that the opposite end of the mandrel to the chassis rests on a removable counter bearing.
- the counter bearing is simply placed on an erasable support forming a chair resting on the ground or on part of the frame fixed.
- the support chair At the end of the winding, the support chair is away from the mandrel to allow removal of the spool.
- the mandrel being in the position is generally left free and its end embedded in the rotating frame is subjected to forces important due to the weight of the coil which increases gradually and, in addition, to the tensile force which must be modulated according to the diameter and is particularly important at the start of winding.
- the object of the invention is to remedy these disadvantages thanks to a new provision allowing support the mandrel in all positions and even during the rotation of the rotating chassis.
- the invention therefore generally applies to a carousel winder comprising a rotating chassis rotatably mounted around a central axis on a fixed frame, at at least two mandrels rotatably mounted on the rotating chassis, each around an eccentric axis parallel to the central axis and extending in overhang on the same side of the chassis turning from a mounting end on the chassis to an opposite end, means of selective control of the rotation of one or other of the mandrels around its axis, and means for controlling the rotation of the chassis rotating around its central axis, to selective placement of a first mandrel winding in a first starting position of winding and then the passage of said winding mandrel the first position to at least a second position complete winding and unloading of the reel, with simultaneous return of the second mandrel discharged from said second position to first position.
- the winder comprises a permanent support device from the end opposite to rotating frame of the shaft of each winding mandrel, from the first start position to the position complete winding, said support member comprising at less a removable rotary support member of said end opposite of the winding mandrel, resting on the frame fixed by means of mounted support means rotating with the chassis rotating around the central axis of the latter, and control means, respectively, for the engagement of the support member on the end of the mandrel in the first starting position and up to the second position for complete winding and release of the support member with spacing of the support means in a third position sufficiently distant from the mandrel to allow unloading of the wound coil.
- the means of support of the removable support member comprise at least one support arm supported, at a distance greater than the width of a spool, on one end of at least one support rod bearing at its other end in the chassis rotating and extending in one direction parallel to the central axis, the support arm being articulated on said support rod around an axis, so that it can pivot between the engagement position of the support member on the end of the mandrel and the spread position allowing unloading the wound coil.
- the articulation axis of the support arm can be perpendicular to the central axis, the support arm coming then place yourself in a plane substantially parallel to this axis, in the unloading position.
- the axis of articulation can also be parallel to the central axis, the support arm then being offset angularly with respect to the mandrels so that the organ support is far enough away from said mandrels to not not hinder the discharge of a coil completely rolled up.
- the arm of support is articulated on a single rod forming a tree support centered on the central axis of rotation of the chassis turning.
- the central support shaft can advantageously be rotatably mounted around the axis on said rotating chassis with possibility of angular sliding, the winder comprising means for applying to the shaft of support, of a torque around the central axis adjusted to compensate for the weight of the current reel of winding and the torque resulting from the traction exerted on the tape, so that the resultant of the whole forces applied to the support arm by the mandrel during winding is exercised in a direction passing substantially through the central axis of the rotating chassis.
- the arm of support of the support member comprises two branches articulated respectively on two offset support rods symmetrically on either side of the plane passing through the mandrel axes, at a sufficient distance from it to allow the winding of a coil on each mandrel up to a maximum radius corresponding to the distance between the central axis and the axis of the mandrel.
- each support rod forms a beam extending cantilevered from the rotating frame and having a cross section of inertia sufficient to resist the forces applied to the mandrel by the strip under traction.
- the removable support member comprises a counter bearing likely to engage, by displacement relative axial, on a pin at the end of the mandrel opposite to the rotating chassis.
- each madrin is of the type comprising segments which can be moved radially under the action of a control rod sliding axially in a bore of the mandrel shaft.
- the mandrel support pin is advantageously provided at the end of the control rod and can engage removably, by axial displacement of said rod, in a housing corresponding to the arm of support after the installation of the latter in the axis of the mandrel.
- the removable support member consists of at least two jaws each placed at the end of a mounted arm pivoting on a support rod about an axis parallel to the central axis, between an open position for which the two jaws are far enough apart from the mandrel to allow removal of the coil, and a closed position for which the jaws are tightened on the end of the mandrel in the manner of pliers.
- this is equipped with two support members each consisting of a pair of jaws and mounted on two swivel arms each carrying two jaws belonging respectively to each of the two support members so that one or the other of the two mandrels is supported alternately by pivoting the two arms in one direction or in the other, the two jaws of a pair being in closed position on one of the chucks when both the jaws of the other pair are moved apart, in position open on either side of the other mandrel, so that allow unloading of the wound coil.

- a carousel winder conventionally comprising a rotating chassis 1 rotatably mounted around a central axis 10, the chassis consisting, for example, of a drum cylindrical rolling on separated rollers 11 mounted rotary on a foundation block 12 or a fixed frame, each around an axis parallel to the central axis.
- a way rotation control such as a pinion 13 driven in rotating and meshing with a toothed crown not shown, formed on the periphery of the drum 1 allows to rotate it around its axis 10.
- Each chuck 21, 22 is mounted on a shaft 2, 2 'and can be driven in rotation about an axis 20, 20 'parallel to the axis 10 of the rotating chassis 1 by means, for example, of a motor autonomous 23, 23 'mounted in the chassis 1.
- the motor rotation 23 can be hydraulic or electric but other known means of rotation control can be used, for example, a gear system arranged at inside the chassis 1 and driven by at least one motor so as to selectively control the drive in rotation of one or the other of the two mandrels.
- Each mandrel is made, in a conventional manner, a tree 2 associated, as shown in FIG. 9, with a set of adjacent segments 26 sliding mounted radially on the shaft 2 and actuated by a rod 25 passing through an axial bore of the shaft 2 and carrying a rack which controls the expansion of the mandrel by segment spacing for hooking and winding of the band and then tightening the segments for allow the coil to be removed at the end of the winding.
- the rotating chassis allows place each of the two mandrels successively in a first winding start position A then in a second position B for complete winding and extraction of the coil.
- the two positions A and B are diametrically opposite, so that one of the mandrels 21 either in the start position A when the other mandrel 22 is in position B for extracting the coil.
- the shaft 2 of each mandrel is embedded in the chassis 1 at its end turned towards it and thus extends overhanging supporting the weight of the reel 3.
- the end 24 of the shaft 2 of the mandrel opposite the chassis 1 can, depending on the invention, to be removably supported on the solid mass of foundation 12 or on a fixed frame, via a rotary support member 4.
- the support member 4 comprises a counter bearing 40 mounted at the end of a support arm 41 which, at its other end, is mounted on the end of a central shaft 5 centered on the central axis 10 and of which the opposite end 51 is embedded in the chassis turning 1.
- the support arm 41 is articulated on the free end 52 of the central shaft 5 around an axis 42 perpendicular to the central axis 10 so as to allow 180 ° rotation of the support arm 41 with the counter bearing 4.
- the latter is, on the other hand, arranged so that its two lateral faces 43, 43 ′ can engage so removable on a pin arranged at the end 24 of the shaft chuck 2.
- the rotation of the arm 41 can be controlled by any means, easy to design and supported by the central shaft 5, for example, an actuated rack 53 by a jack 54 and meshing on a pinion centered on the axis 42 and integral in rotation with the arm 41.
- the counter-bearing 4 can be equipped, on its two lateral faces 43, 43 ', of two contiguous bearings committing, in one way or the other, to one or the other of the pins 24, 24 ', with a clearance allowing the arm rotation 41.
- This operation can be carried out during the time necessary for the engagement of the head 31 of the new coil on the mandrel 21. In this way, from the start of the winding, the mandrel 21 is supported, at its end 24, by the support member 4.
- the tensile force applied to the strip for allow the winding thereof does not result in bending of the mandrel 21 which is held at its two ends respectively by the revolving frame 1 and by the member support 4 and the corresponding reaction is transmitted to foundation mass by the arm 41, the central shaft 5 and the chassis 1.
- the central shaft 5 which is embedded, by its end 51, on the chassis 1 can have rigidity necessary to absorb this reaction.
- the opposite end 52 of the central shaft 5 build directly on the foundation, by example by means of a counter bearing 55 which can engage from removably on the end 52 of the shaft 5, the counter bearing 55 being carried, for this purpose, by a support arm 56, for example as shown in Figure 2.
- the arm 56 carrying the counter bearing 55 and bearing on the foundation block 12 is rotatably mounted around an axis 57 separated from the central axis 10 and from the axis 20 of the mandrel 21.
- the support arm 41 is mounted pivoting around the axis 42, on the end 52 of the central shaft 5 and the latter can be secured in rotation with the rotating frame 1 so as to rotate with this one when we pass the shaft 21 from the position start A to full winding position B.
- the organ support 4 remains engaged on the pin 24 of the mandrel 21 and therefore allows it to withstand the tensile force applied by the strip without risk of bending of the mandrel 21, the reaction being taken up by the central shaft 5.
- the tree central 5 is rotatably mounted around axis 10 on the rotating frame 1, so as to allow sliding angular and is associated with a torque motor 61, fixed on a extension 6 of the shaft 5 and making it possible to apply to this one a torque.
- the strip 32 is subjected to tensile stress T whose distance to the axis of rotation 20 gradually increases, as well as the weight P of the coil 30 which is added to the self-weight of the arm 41.
- the torque motor 61 exerts on the central shaft 5, a direction compensation pair reverse, which is permanently adjusted according to the length of wound tape and orientation of the stretched strand 32 so that the reaction applied to the support arm 41 which is the result of the tensile force T applied on the strip and the weight of the reel 30, passes substantially by the central axis 10.
- Figure 5a shows the start position for which the load P applied to the axis of the mandrel is relatively small, for example a ton. Traction applied can be of the order of 2.5 T. The resulting R, directed upwards, is compensated by an opposite force R ' having an R'x component taken up by the support arm and a component R'y taken up by the application of the torque. We sees that, in this position, the support arm OA is subjected to traction and the torque is applied in the direction trigonometric.
- the applied load P can be of the order of 20 T and the traction T of approximately 7 T, the scale of representation of the forces being modified.
- the resultant R is directed downwards and the charge P is mainly taken up by the support arm OA which is compressed.
- the couple is then directed in the direction negative, opposite to the tensile force.
- Figure 5c corresponds to the position of unloading after complete winding.
- the load P can be 30 T, the pull being 15 T.
- the torque is applied again in the positive direction and compensates essentially the charge P.
- the bending moment applied by the strip is reduced to a minimum, the support arm not being subjected, in practice, only to tensile or compression.
