Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von aus gefalzten Druckbogen bestehenden BuchblöckenProcess for the production of book blocks consisting of folded printed sheets
The invention relates to a process for the production of book blocks consisting of folded printed sheets, in which the printed sheets having different printed images are individually fed to the sewing device of a thread-stitching machine according to a specific order and are stitched together by at least one binding thread passing through the printed sheet fold.
Processes of this kind are used to produce books of high binding quality.
The different, folded printed sheets forming the book blocks are made available in a stacked order in a certain order according to the content of the book block to be produced, and are successively sent to a processing line by a separating device. On the way to the sewing device of the thread sewing machine, which is known to be formed by different sewing systems, the printed sheets pass through a station in which they are checked for correctness and readiness for processing. In front of this station they are opened for the purpose of processing in the sewing device and astride a saddle-shaped support, where they are taken over by drivers of a rotating conveyor.
A reading device directed from the outside onto the saddle-shaped support determines which printed sheet it is, which is then checked in a comparison device connected to the reading device. The comparison device signals a control if it is a defective sheet. If this is the case, the processing process is stopped and the faulty printing sheet is replaced. The comparison device contains the data of the target values of the printed sheets intended for a complete book block as well as their sequence, the necessary data being recorded or stored in a previous calibration process.
This type of print sheet detection allows the sheet sequence to be ensured and correct.
Detection of the correct opening of the folded printed sheets before they are handed over to the stapling process remains unresolved. An incorrectly opened print sheet would result in it being only partially grasped by the sewing process and then not anchored in the bound book block. It may happen that a printed sheet is not opened in the middle before being placed on the saddle-like support, so that only a part of the fold edges rests on the stitching saddle or only a part of the folds is caught when sewing. The unrecorded printed sheets lie loosely between the bound printed sheets; a book turns out to be worthless.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to ensure the detection of the open state of a printed sheet during the processing of printed sheets into book blocks by thread sewing. j -
leisten unter Einhaltung der bekannten Bedingungen.perform in compliance with the known conditions.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the printed sheets on the conveying path to the sewing device on at least one of the sides forming the fold inner edge of the printed sheets in a spread position on a sheet type or. the completeness and / or processing position are guided past on the basis of the control device checking the printed images, which among other things the reliability of the processing process can be increased.
It is particularly advantageous if the printed images of the printed sheets are optically read and recorded, then compared with a stored reference value and a difference calculated therefrom to form a signal that has a stopping or correcting effect on the production process of the thread sewing machine is triggered , so that an easily understandable functional connection can arise.
In the case of a thread-stitching machine, consisting of a transfer device upstream of the sewing device, on which the spread printed sheets are conveyed one behind the other, this means that within the transfer device, which drives the conveying action and is driven astringently on the inside edge of the fold, an approximately perpendicular to the direction of movement of the print sheets acting optoelectric reading device assigned to a control device is arranged.
A transfer device has proven to be suitable which has laterally sloping bearing surfaces which are interrupted in the reading area of the reading device or are formed with a window-like recess. The reading device is expediently connected to a comparison device which records / stores a stored setpoint value which can be changed and is designed as an electronic computer.
A control is preferably connected to the comparison device, which can influence the stapling process, the transfer device or the thread-stitching machine between the feed on the singling device and the sewing device on signals from the comparison device, i.e. can interrupt or correct the processing process.
In der Zeichnung zeigen:The invention is then explained with reference to the drawing, to which express reference is made to all details not mentioned in the description, with reference to an exemplary embodiment. laufendes, seitlich schräg abfallende Auflageflächen 9 besit¬ zendes stationäres Stützelement 10 und ein mit diesem zusam¬ menwirkendes, an einem endlos umlaufenden Zugmittel 11 befe¬ stigte Mitnehmer 12 auf. The drivers 12 slide the printed sheets 4 on the support element 10 past an opto-electrical reading device 13 - see also FIG. 2- a control device - which will be discussed later. Due to the arrangement and mode of operation of the reading device 13, a recess 14 is assigned to it at least on a support surface 9 of the support element 10. The end of the support element 10 resp. the transfer device 8 is connected with a sewing saddle 16 assigned to a sewing device 15 of the thread sewing machine 1 for the conveying effect, for which purpose the contact surfaces 9 of the support element 10 form a coplanar plane with the stitching saddle 16. Above the one contact surface 9 and contact surface 17 of the stitching saddle 16 there is a run 18 of a rotating drive belt 19 for the further transport of the printing sheet 4 onto the stitching saddle 16, where it abuts a stop 20.
By means of a swiveling movement according to the dashed arc lines F, the printed sheet is put through the stitching saddle 16 into the binding position in which the sewing process takes place (to be read in the prior art). The sewing of the printed sheets 4 to book blocks is indicated by a needle 21 and a binding thread 22 shown. With the sewing process, the book blocks 5 are continuously removed with a conveyor belt 23.
2 shows the underside of a printed sheet 4 in the region of a recess 14, through which a emitted light beam 25 is reflected by the printed sheet 4 and received by a reading device 13. The light beam 25 is evaluated in a comparison device (not shown) which calculates differences which form a signal which is used to control the control device. The latter consists of the reading device, which is initiated by a reflecting light beam 24 applied approximately perpendicularly to at least one inner side that divides the printing sheets 4 in half, a comparison device evaluating the light beam 24, in which the unconverted light beam is compared as an actual value with a desired value becomes. A signal to a controller calculated from this interrupts or changes the production process of the thread sewing machine.
