Claims (17)

  1. Apparatus (1) for transferring folded or unfolded printed sheets (2) to a processing line, [the said apparatus] consisting of a transfer rotor (4) that: pulls stacked printed sheets (2) from an adjacent hopper (14); has at its approximately circular periphery - to which a printed sheet (2), plucked partly off the stack by at least one separating device (8) driven in a time cycle and acting by suction on the leading edge (i.e. leading in the conveying direction (F)) of [the] printed sheet (2), is displaceable - and* a recess (7) to receive the leading edge of [the] printed sheet (2); and forms a conveying gap with a conveyor belt (16) resting on its part-circumference and driven in the same direction; characterized in that the separating device (8) has at least one suction head (11) connected to a vacuum source and carried on a camshaft (9) of a cam mechanism (22), mounted pivotably on the transfer rotor (4), parallel with its rotational axis.
  2. Apparatus according to Claim 1, characterized in that the camshaft (9) is connected to a follower (26, 29) travelling around a stationary cam way (25).
  3. Apparatus according to Claim 2, characterized in that the follower (26, 29) is configured as a lever, and has a roller (26) at its free end.
  4. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the transfer rotor (4) has at least two separating devices (8).
  5. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that in the zone of plucking the printed sheets (2) from the stack the transfer rotor (4) has a direction of rotation (F) changing from an opposite motion to a same-way motion regarding deflection of the printed sheets (2) to be pulled.
  6. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the separating device (8) when in the inactive position is kept within the orbit of the transfer rotor (4).
  7. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that at the moment of pick-up, the suction head (11), directed approximately perpendicularly to the underside of the stack, makes an acute angle of less than 30° with a plane passing through the rotational axis of the transfer rotor (4) and the camshaft (9).
  8. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the conveyor belt (16) forming an infeed gap with the circumference of the transfer rotor (4) is elastically supported in the infeed zone.
  9. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the conveying gap at the circumference of the transfer rotor (4) extends over approximately 120°.
  10. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, characterized in that a gripper device (35) operable contrariwise to the direction of rotation (F) of the transfer rotor (4) to clamp the fed leading edge of the printed sheet (2) is assigned to the recess (7) arranged at the circumference of the transfer rotor (4).
  11. Apparatus according to Claim 10, characterized in that the gripper device (35) is formed by a gripper shaft (36) mounted pivotably on either side of the transfer rotor (4), parallel with its rotational axis, with gripper arms (37) attached which are drivable into open and closed positions by a follower (38, 40) connected to the gripper shaft (36) and travelling around a stationary cam (39).
  12. Apparatus according to either of Claims 10 and 11, characterized in that the recesses (7) are configured as pockets and have a widened entry opening for the printed sheets (2).
  13. Apparatus according to Claim 12, characterized in that the trailing wall (41) (i.e. trailing in the direction of rotation (F)) of the recess (7) is configured as a support face for the gripper device (35).
  14. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 11 to 13, characterized in that the gripper arms (37) clamping a printed sheet (2) to the support face have an end portion (42) cranked in the direction of their closing motion.
  15. Apparatus according to Claim 14, characterized in that the support face is configured as a roller (43).
  16. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 1 to 15, characterized in that a return pulley (15) of the conveyor belt (16), forming, with the transfer rotor (4), the infeed gap, [serves] to deflect the printed sheets (2) seized by the separating device (8) by their leading edge (i.e. leading in the direction of rotation).
  17. Apparatus according to any one of Claims 10 to 16, characterized in that the active zone of the gripper device (35) [lies] within the circumference of the transfer rotor (4).
