Description

The invention relates to a device for collecting printed sheets to unbound book blocks on a horizontal feed line, which is formed from a conveyor means comprising at a continuous traction means for receiving the printed sheets at intervals successively conveying elements and above in the conveying direction successively arranged feed devices for the printing sheet, wherein the conveying elements are guided at least in a feed region of the printing sheet and are formed by a support surface of the superimposed accumulated printing sheet, which at the in circulation resp. Direction of delivery front end have a transversely to the conveying direction extending, upstanding stop.

Collection devices of the type mentioned are used in industrial bookbinding for collecting printed sheets to loose printed sheet stacks (book block). The various printed sheets are collected in a predetermined order and then transferred to a finishing machine, such as an adhesive binder, where they be bound to raw books, catalogs, brochures or similar printed products. Prior art collecting devices have for this purpose a conveying device which is formed by conveying elements fastened at equal intervals on a rotating traction means and along which feeding devices are arranged, which in each case transfer one printing sheet to the conveying elements of the conveying device per machine cycle, as a rule. The conveying elements are essentially formed by a support on which the printed sheets are stored with their flat sides resp. on which they are stacked and a perpendicular to the support stop, where they are aligned. In each feeder a defined type of printed sheet is stored, one of which is delivered to the passing conveyor elements, so that at the end of the conveyor the conveying elements, formed from the individual sheets form loose book blocks.

The pre-published EP 1 726 552 A1 describes a trained for the same purpose of the processing of printing sheet device in which the at the front end in the conveying direction of a wall having conveying elements, at least in the region of the conveying resp. Have feed line to the wall inclined bearing surfaces, wherein an educated by the conveying direction L and the inclined support surface angle β is smaller than the loading angle α between the conveying direction L and feeding direction F of the feeders. This arrangement is based on the idea that from above through the feeders obliquely downwardly funded sheet to receive by an approximately rectified tilt position of the bearing surfaces on the conveyor elements.
Experiments with this device, however, have shown that an inclination position of the bearing surface of the conveying elements proves to be inadequate when they differ significantly in collecting the sheet, especially by the weight. If, for example, a light printed sheet is fed to the bearing surface, onto which a relatively heavy printed sheet is then pushed, then it happens that the pushed-on printed sheet, due to a frictional engagement, shifts the underlying sheet away from the bearing surface in the front region along the stop.
This circumstance can also be explained by an execution according to WO 2007/085101 A1 can not be remedied because there is prescribed that the bearing surfaces of the driven along an orbit conveyor elements at least in the feed of the sheet in the conveying direction inclined form resp. are to be placed in a tilt position. The inclined position of the bearing surfaces of the conveying elements may possibly favor the movement path of the printed sheets in the conveying elements.

Obviously, they are leaving EP 1 726 552 A1 and the WO 2007/085101 A1 assuming that a loading and an aligned collecting of the printed sheets on the bearing surfaces of the conveying elements can be supported by a tilted position.
This view is not true, because experience has shown that the sheets can not be reliably aligned on inclined bearing surfaces of the conveying elements and collected resting on the conveyor elements.

EP 1918232 A1 discloses a device for collecting printed sheets to unbound book blocks gem. the preamble of claim 1.

The object of the invention is thus to provide a device of the type mentioned above, which allows independent of the nature of the sheet a secure alignment of the sheet after the front side in the conveying direction.

The present invention takes a different, surprising route, in which printed sheets of any kind can be detected aligned and reliably transferred to the subsequent processing station.

According to the invention this object is achieved in that the bearing surfaces of the conveying elements are aligned on the feed line parallel to the conveying direction and that at the downstream in the conveying direction end of a feed section of the sheet each one on top of the book block from above acting hold-down device is arranged.

An in Fig. 1 illustrated device 1 for collecting printed sheets 12 to unbound book blocks 2 has on a horizontal feed line 3, a formed on a rotating traction means 4 for receiving the printed sheet 12 at intervals successively mounted conveying elements 5 conveying device 6. For example, a magazine 23 for receiving printed sheets 12, a separating device 24 and a feed conveyor 25 are arranged above the conveying device 6 in succession in the conveying direction F. By the separating device 24 of the lowest sheet is lifted by suckers from the rest of the stack, gripped, pulled away under the stack and taken over by the feed conveyor 25. The feed conveyor 25, which is arranged at an acute angle α to the conveying direction F of the conveying device, transfers the printing sheet 12 in a feed region 8 formed by the feeding direction and conveying direction F onto the conveying elements 5 of the conveying device 6. The conveying elements 5 have a bearing surface 9 for the printing sheets 12 collected on top of each other are in circulation. Conveying direction F front end 10 with a transverse to Conveying direction F extending, upstanding stop 11 is formed. On the feed line 3, the bearing surfaces 9 of the conveying elements 5 are preferably aligned at least approximately parallel to the conveying direction F. The speed of the fed through the conveyor 6 printed sheet 12 is during the delivery to the support surface, respectively. Conveying elements 5 preferably higher than the speed of the conveying device 6. As a result, the printed sheets 12 are pushed in the feed area 8 on the stop 11 of the conveying element 5, respectively. aligned with the stop 11. At the downstream end 14 of the feed area 8 in the conveying direction F, there is arranged a stationary holding-down device 13 which accompanies the printing element 5 on the conveying element 5 and extends at least approximately into the feed area 8 of the feeding device 7 following in the conveying direction F. (please refer Fig. 2 ). In this embodiment, the holding-down device 13 is formed by a lower strand 15 of at least one belt 17 circulating around two axes 16 spaced apart in the conveying direction F. The speed of the lower run 15 resp. the hold-down device 13 is at least approximately as high as the speed of the conveyor device 6 in the conveying direction F. To minimize the frictional forces between the book blocks 2 and the belt 17, its outer side 18 is preferably smooth. To compensate for thickness tolerances of the unbound book blocks 2 in the conveying elements 5, the hold-down device 13 is delivered with a force yielding against the book blocks 2. This force can be generated by means of springs 28 or pneumatic cylinders. During the collection process, the book blocks 2 are correspondingly thicker with each sheet fed 12. To compensate for these differences in thickness is the distance d formed changeable between the receiving surface 9 of the conveying elements 5 and the hold-down device 13 by the height of the hold-down device 13 and / or the support surface 9 of the conveying elements 5 is adjustable. In the Fig. 2 For example, the hold-down device 13 is adjustably guided in the direction V by means of a stationary guide arrangement 26 relative to the bearing surfaces 9 of the conveying elements. According to Fig. 5 is the upstanding stop 11 of the conveyor elements 5 of the hold-down device 13, respectively. Run through the strand 15 and therefore has in the region of the hold-down device 13 from the upper end downwardly extending recesses 19.
Another embodiment of the hold-down device 13 is shown in FIG Fig. 3 shown. By means of a blowing air 21 leading nozzle assembly 22, the sheet 12 are pressed against each other and against the support surface 9 of the conveying elements 5. The force generated thereby results between the printing sheet 12 on the one hand and between the support surface 9 and the book block 2 on the other hand frictional forces, which is a displacement of the printed sheet 12, respectively. prevent the book block 2.
In one in the Fig. 4 shown further alternative embodiment, the hold-down device 13 by a at the in circulation resp. Conveying direction F front end 10 of the conveyor element 5 arranged, acting from above on the collected sheet 12 closing and openable controlled clamp 20 is formed. Before a conveying element 5 has reached the feeding region 8, the clamp 20 is opened so that a printed sheet 12 can be fed to the stop 11 of the conveying element 5. If the printed sheet 12 (aligned) on the stop 11, the clamp 20 is closed. This process is repeated at each feeder 7. For controlling the clamp 20 are provided at the feed 8 control rails 27, with which the clamps 20 are each opened against a clamping force generated by a clamp spring 30. An additionally controlled, with the conveyor elements 5 revolving hold-29 can hold a book block 2 with the clamp open 20 against the support surface 9, thereby preventing a displacement of the book blocks 2 or parts thereof. It is envisaged to clamp the hold-down 29 with a spring force against the support surface 9, wherein the operation of the hold-29 can be done with analog means not shown, as described for the control of the brackets 20. However, the hold-down 29 need not necessarily be fastened to the conveyor elements 5. It is also conceivable to fasten these on a synchronous with the conveyor elements 5 running system, for example, on a rotating traction means.
