Claims (6)

  1. Process for the production of book blocks (5) consisting of folded printed sheets (4), in which the printed sheets having different printed images are fed individually in a specific sequence to the sewing device (15) of a thread-stitching machine (1) and are stitched together by means of at least one binding thread (22) traversing the printed sheet fold, characterised in that, on the way to the sewing device (15), the printed sheets are moved past a monitoring device checking the type of sheet or completeness and/or the processing or opening position by way of the printed images, with at least one of the sides forming the inner fold edge of a printed sheet in the open position.
  2. Process according to claim 1, characterised in that the printed images are optically detected and then compared with a stored reference value, the resulting difference being converted in order to form a signal stopping or correcting the production process.
  3. Device for carrying out the process according to claim 1 or claim 2, consisting of a transfer device (8) arranged upstream of the sewing device (15) of the thread-stitching machine (1) and on which the open printed sheets (4) are conveyed one behind the other, characterised in that an opto-electric reading device (13) acting substantially perpendicularly to the direction of movement of the printed sheets (4) and associated with a monitoring device is arranged within the transfer device (8) on which the printed sheets (4) driven with a positive conveying action are received astride at the inner fold edges thereof.
  4. Device according to claim 3, characterised in that the transfer device (8) is provided with downwardly sloping bearing surfaces (9) which are interrupted or provided with window-like recesses (14) in the reading range of the reading device (13).
  5. Device according to claim 3 or claim 4, characterised in that the reading device (13) is connected to a comparator having a stored, variable setpoint.
  6. Device according to claim 4, characterised in that the comparator is connected to a control unit designed to control the transfer device (8) or the thread-stitching machine(1).
