- the housing supply and the housing discharge arrangement 8 or 9 are not described in more detail. They form together with a takeover position 10 an application-specific Assembly 11 (Fig. 2), which depending on the to be processed Connector housing 1 constructed very differently can be, and therefore for the fastest possible adaptability to connector housing shapes other than a common one Unit 11 is interchangeable, and over a defined Interface to the positioning unit 5 has.
- Fig. 2 application-specific Assembly 11
- the positioning unit 5 has the task of empty populating connector housing 1 of a part of Plug housing feed system forming transfer position 10 to adopt them for placement along a horizontal Connector housing guide and clamping track 12 several positions and then position them precisely after the removal arrangement has been fitted 9 feed.
- the same positioning unit 5 can also, e.g. 8c for a corresponding modified device for processing Ladders using insulation displacement technology (IDC) can be used.
- IDC insulation displacement technology
- the positioning unit has 5 a horizontally running housing connector guide and clamping track 12, which to the front with a clamping plate that can be moved in the horizontal direction 13 is completed, and thereby a temporary Controlled clamping of the connector housings to be assembled 1 in the guide and clamping track 12 allows.
- the clamping plate 13 is guided in the front housing part 14 and by means of compression springs 15 against the inside of the Guide and clamping track 12 too prestressed.
- the guide and clamping track 12 is made by means of a comb-shaped Gripper element 16 (see Fig. 6a).
- This Gripper element 16 consists of two relative to each other slidable combs 17, which two or more left or right gripper fingers 18 firmly connected and thereby form two grippers 19 and 20.
- the two Combs 17 are attached to a comb holder 21 each.
- the the latter two are parallel in a carriage 22 Slidable to the longitudinal axis of the guide and clamping track stored, and biased by means of compression springs 23, that the combs 17 move relative to each other and the connector housing 1 between the gripper fingers 18 of the grippers 19 or 20. So that the Close the gripper exactly in the center the comb holders 21 fixed racks 24 and one pinion 25 mounted in the carriage 22 in a form-fitting manner coupled.
- the carriage 22 with the combs 17 held therein forms together the positioning slide.
- This is in turn in a drive housing 26 parallel to the longitudinal axis the guide and clamping track 12 slidable, and can via the toothed belt 27 from a stepper motor 28th (not shown) can be moved precisely controlled exactly.
- a stepper motor 28th (not shown)
- These two stops 29 and 29 ' are arranged so that they are shortly before reaching the end positions through a bore 30 in the carriage 22 each one of the two comb holders 21 to a standstill bring. Since the carriage 22 its end position somewhat reached later, the second comb holder is over the Racks 24 and pinion 25 are relatively opposite Movement direction of the carriage 22 shifted. Thereby the two grippers 19 and 20 in both end positions of the positioning slide 22 forcibly opened.
- the drive housing 26 can be used together with the positioning slide and the stepper motor 28 at right angles be moved to the guide and clamping track 12.
- a such a shift is made using two in the rear Housing part 31 arranged pneumatic cylinders 32 causes.
- the two piston rods 33 are in the drive housing 26 permanently installed and in the front and in rear housing part 14 and 31 slidably mounted. These piston rods 33, which are connected to the drive housing 26 be moved, press in their front end position onto a head plate 34 and thereby move the clamping plate 13 forward, which causes that in the leadership and clamping track 12 are not located housing connector 1 more jamming, but only by means of the grippers 19 and 20 be fixed in their current position.
- the assembly unit 7 has the task of using contact parts 2 provided conductor 3, e.g. from a wire processing machine, to take over and in predetermined Plug holes of those provided by the positioning unit Insert connector housing 1.
- the assembly unit 7 as in particular can be seen from Figure 4, an assembly slide 35, which by means of two in the two bearing blocks 36 and 37 mounted guide rods 38 in the direction of the latter is slidably mounted.
- This longitudinal shift is driven by one over the two timing belts 39 and 40 acting stepper motor 41 causes precisely controlled.
- the two centering grippers 42 and 42 ' are over the push rods 43 and 43 'from the pneumatic cylinders 44 and 44 'centered in the open or closed position emotional.
- the assembly slide 35 guides everyone for insertion a conductor 3 or its contact part 2 into a specific one Plug hole of a connector housing to be fitted 1 required movements.
- the cable gripper 46 is in a swivel arm 47 rotatable about the axis of rotation 48 of a toothed belt pulley 49 stored.
- the swivel arm 47 in turn is fixed to one Hollow shaft 50 connected, which in turn rotatable in Assembly slide 35 is mounted.
- the cable gripper 46 is rotated by drive over each other through a toothed belt 51 connected toothed belt pulleys 49 and 49 ', driven from a rotary shaft rotatably mounted in the hollow shaft 50 52.
- the guide shafts 38 are in the assembly slide 35 rotatably mounted. They are in ball bushings 53, which shows a linear displacement of the assembly slide 35 and at the same time the transmission a rotational movement from the toothed belt pulleys 54 allow on the guide shafts 38.
- Ball bushings 53 and the guide shafts 38 are commercially available parts.
- the ball bushings 53 are in the rear housing part 37 firmly stored and do not move with the assembly slide 35 with.
- the right guide shaft 38 can by means of a stepper motor (not shown) rotated over the toothed belt 55 be what about the toothed belt pulley 56, the Toothed belt 57 and a tension roller 58 a rotary movement the toothed belt pulley 59 causes. Because the pulley 59 is firmly connected to the rotary shaft 52, this causes a rotation of the cable gripper 46.
- the swivel arm 47 can by means of a Timing belt 60 engaged stepper motor (not shown) pivoted in a very precisely controlled manner become.
- the timing belt 60 acts on the left guide shaft 38, the toothed belt pulley 61, the Toothed belt 62, the toothed belt pulley 63 and the fixed the latter connected hollow shaft 50.

While the return movement of the carriage 22 from the left in the grippers 19 and 20 had the right end position found in the closed position, but this is meaningless is because it is out of engagement with the in the guide and clamping track 12 located connector housing 1 are located.
- the gripper element 16 is again in FIG. 6f analogous to the position shown in FIG. 6b in the takeover position to take over the in takeover position 10 located second connector housing 1 by the Gripper 20 and for detecting the in an intermediate position located first connector housing 1 by the The gripper 19 and the drive housing 26 are located there back in the front position. Immediately before the drive housing 26 reaches its front position, will automatically lock the two connector housings 1 canceled by the clamping plate 13. In Fig. 6g the gripper element 16 is in a first loading position. With its previous postponement the slide 22 came out of engagement with to the left the right end stop 29, whereby the grippers 19 and 20 were automatically closed centrically and that of these two grippers by plug housing 1 through these were clamped.
- Both connector housings 1 are located now each in a precisely defined position. For applications that have multiple sequential operations (e.g. process monitoring), it is now possible to at two distant positions at the same time different operations on the ones to be loaded To perform connector housings. By increasing the number of grippers (see e.g. Fig. 6a) are even more than two parallel processes possible.
- the gripper element 16 is e.g. to Equipping a second plug hole in a connector housing in one by the hole distance from the first assembly position (Fig. 6g) removed second assembly position. Depending on the number of poles and the pole spacing of the connector housing to be processed can then If necessary, further processing positions be approached.
- Fig. 7a shows the starting position in which the assembly unit 7 the provided with a contact part 2 Head 3 from a lower takeover position has raised to the assembly axis 65.
- the contact part 2 stands in front of the closed centering gripper 42, 42 ', which immediately before the one to be fitted Plug housing 1 is placed, and one exactly centered introduction of the contact part 2 in the to be assembled Ensures the plug hole of the connector housing 1.
- the actual assembly can be seen from FIG. 7d.
- the cable gripper 46 continues in the direction of the connector housing 1 moves until the end position of the contact part 2 reached in the plug-in hole of the housing 1 is.
- the plug holes are the plug housing formed so that a contact part 2 snaps into it. In an intermediate step, this can snap into place be checked by with the cable gripper closed 46 made a test movement away from the connector housing 1 and with suitable means (e.g. pneumatic or by Current reduction of the stepper motor supply) the pull-out force the contact part 2 checked and if necessary an error signal is given.
- the cable gripper 46 opened and the conductor 3 released.
- the assembly slide then moves 35 the cable gripper 46 back in its Takeover position, and the centering gripper 42, 42 ' closes as soon as the positioning unit 5 Has moved connector housing 1 by one clock step.
