Definitions
- the invention relates to a bottle opener for prying off crown cap closures, according to the preamble of the main claim.
- Bottle openers come in a variety of shapes and technical geometrical designs. They all have a handle body, on which a lever edge is arranged for reaching under the beaded collar of the crown cap.
- the known bottle openers require a relatively long leverage to safely pry the crown caps off the bottles, so that the force comes to lie very far outside the longitudinal axis of gravity of the bottles.
- the result is that the bottle must be firmly enclosed with one hand while the other hand performs the lever movement to open the bottle, otherwise the bottle will tip over.
- a bottle opener of the generic type is known.
- This known bottle opener has a handle body on which a lever edge for gripping under the beaded collar of the crown cork is arranged, this handle body having a shaft for receiving the crown cork and the handle body being penetrated coaxially with the shaft of bores.
- the bottle opener always requires a certain orientation in order to effectively grip under the beaded collar, on the other hand, an insert part which is complex in terms of assembly and which is subject to high wear is used to form a lever edge. Furthermore, the handling of the known bottle opener is unsatisfactory since, on the one hand, the leverage is considerable and, on the other hand, unfavorably acts on the crown cap.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of improving bottle openers of the type mentioned in such a way that the crown caps can be levered off with the least force and with one hand.
- the bottle opener according to the invention rests almost entirely over the palm of the hand and is placed on the crown cap. It can then be moved backwards as far as it will go and then pulled up with your fingers and pressed down at the same time with the palm of your hand will.
- the bottle opener according to the invention provides an internal shaft into which the crown cap can be inserted from below. The diameter of the upper opening was chosen so that the pressure point for the lever is approximately in the middle of the crown cap and thus opening the bottle requires minimal effort.
- a special feature of the bottle opener according to the invention is that the bottle opener does not slip when it is opened.
- the bottle opener picks up the curve of the crown cap and applies pressure from below to one third of the closure surface of the crown cap.
- this structure prevents the crown cap from being deformed too much.
- the lower opening is designed so that the crown cap can be easily inserted. After pulling it off the bottle, the crown cap does not fall out but remains in the opener. The crown cap can be removed with a slight movement.
- the handle body of the bottle opener is disc-shaped and, as stated, has an inner shaft for receiving the crown cork to be lifted off.
- a web is formed between the shaft and the upper edge and the lower edge of the handle body, each of which is at least partially penetrated by a bore leading into the shaft.
- the upper web arranged in the upper edge area forms a support edge, while the web arranged in the lower area forms a lever edge to the crown cap. It is provided here that the upper hole or recess has a smaller diameter and the lower hole has a larger diameter than the crown cap.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the handle body is designed as a circular disc, which can also be dome-shaped. Particularly good grip properties are present if the grip body has a dome-shaped design which is oriented upwards and downwards.
- the receiving shaft for the crown cork preferably has a circular cylindrical shape, the shaft and the lower and upper holes in the webs being coaxially assigned to one another.
- the shaft and the aforementioned bores are arranged centrally in the handle body, so that this represents a symmetrical structure.
- a special feature of the invention is characterized in that practically two lever arms are formed by the handle body, each point of force acting on the lever arms outside of the crown cork surface and from the beaded collar of the crown cork come to rest.
- the crown cap itself is approximately coaxial in the shaft and can be slidably received within it.
- the two lever arms formed by the handle body have a common pressure point on the crown cap.
- a ratio between the lower hole diameter and the shaft height in relation to the crown cap dimension of approximately 15: 4 has proven successful.
- the pressure point of the attached handle body on the crown cork comes to lie approximately in the middle of the crown cork.
- the upper web forms two attacking pressure points in the edge area of the crown cap.
- the surface of the lever edge extends approximately over a third of the closure surface of the crown cap.
- Another feature of the present invention is that the action of force on at least one lever arm of the handle body is directed against the bottom of the bottle, the lever edge being arranged on the side opposite the lever arm assigned to the ball of the thumb. This ensures that the bottle can be opened with only one hand, since it is no longer possible to tilt the bottle, since the direction of force of the hand acting does not exceed the support range of the bottle's center of gravity.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the present invention provides that the bottle opener or the handle body is formed in one piece and made of stainless steel.
- the grip body has a circumferential under grip surface. Furthermore, a feature of the invention provides that the grip body has a circumferential contact surface for the ball of the hand and the palm of the hand. Another feature is that the lever edge is arranged on the opposite side of the lever arm associated with the ball of the thumb.
- the handle body consists of an inner core and a jacket part. It is particularly advantageous here if the inner core is formed in two parts and consists, for example, of two half disks.
- the jacket part can be applied as a potting compound which holds the inner core together in a two-part embodiment without the use of additional fastening means.
- the jacket part is preferably made of plastic.
- FIG. 1 shows a bottle 25 to be opened with the bottle opener 1 according to the invention applied. It can already be clearly seen in FIG. 1 that the Bottle opener 1 or handle body 2 only slightly protrudes beyond the outer circumference 26 of the bottle 25. It surrounds the bottle neck 27 or the bottle axis 19 approximately centrally. In the levered position, the orientations of the forces do not exceed the center of gravity of the bottle, the stray field of which it is extends over the bottle bottom 21. The result of this is that the bottle cannot perform a tilting movement and can therefore be opened with a hand holding the bottle opener 1.
- FIG. 2 shows an enlargement of the bottle opener 1 according to the invention in the area of the bottle neck 27 in a schematic illustration.
- the crown cork 4 is inserted through the bore 10 into the shaft 3 of the handle body 2, so that it is positioned approximately coaxially with the bores 9 and 10 or shaft 3.
- the handle body 2 is positioned approximately coaxially to the bottle axis 19.
- the crown cork 4 comes to lie movably within the shaft 3 and is then displaced by a backward movement in the direction of arrow B of the bottle opener 1 within the shaft 3 such that the hook 18 strikes the bottle neck 27.
- the hook 18 engages with its lever edge 12 under the beaded collar 17 of the crown cap 4.
- the dimension of the shaft 3 is preferably chosen such that the ratio between the shaft height h and the crown cap height h 'is approximately 4: 3, as indicated, for example, in FIG is.
- Figure 3 shows a first movement to be carried out for the purpose of opening the bottle, which is to be carried out with the bottle opener according to the invention after it has been placed on the crown cap 4 as shown in Figure 2.
- the bottle opener 1 is guided backwards in the direction of the arrow B until it stops. Then, as shown in Figure 4, the bottle opener 1 can be pulled upwards with your fingers and at the same time will pressed down on the ball of your hand. It should be pointed out here that the diameter of the upper opening is chosen so that the pressure point for the lever comes to lie approximately in the middle of the crown cap 4, and thus the opening of the bottle 25 is possible with minimal effort.
- Figure 4 clearly shows the lever and force distribution.
- the handle body 2 is divided into two lever arms 13 and 14, while the lever arm 13 has a force acting point 16 on the contact surface 23 through an upward force point 15 on the gripping surface 22 of the underside and the lever arm 14 for the ball of the thumb.
- the handle body 2 has a double-dome shape, similar to a "saucer” and has a cylindrical shaft 3 on the inside.
- the crown cap 4 (see FIGS. 1 to 4) lies in this shaft 3. Bores 10 and 9 lead into the shaft 3 from above and below.
- the first upper bore 9 penetrates the upper web 7 from the upper edge 5 of the grip body 2 and leads into the shaft 3.
- the same procedure is followed with the lower bore 10, which penetrates the web 8 from the lower edge 6 of the handle body 2 and introduces it into the shaft 3.
- the upper web 7 forms a support edge 11 on the crown cap 4 (see Figure 4).
- a circumferential lever edge 12 is arranged, which at the end a part projecting as a hook 18 is arranged.
- the lower bore 10 is gripped by means of a bevel 28, so that the hook 18 is ultimately given its shape.
- bottle opener 1 The interaction between bottle opener 1 and crown cap 4 or bottle 25 can be explained again with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4.
- FIG. 7 shows an embodiment of the bottle opener according to the invention in which the handle body 2 consists of an inner core 29 and a jacket part 30. Otherwise, all elements according to the invention are present, as in the previously described embodiment variants.
- the inner core 29 consists of two parts, preferably two half disks, which are held together by the casting compound of the casing part 30.
- FIG. 8 shows an enlargement of the bottle opener according to the invention in the embodiment variant with a jacket part 30.
- the handle body 2 is oriented with its lever edge 12 pointing upwards.
- the inner core 29 is formed by two half disks 29a and 29b.
- the inner shaft 3 is created between the two half disks for receiving the crown cap to be lifted off.
- a web 7 or 8 is formed between the upper edge 5 and lower edge 6 of the handle body, which are penetrated by a bore 9 or 10, so that in the region of the upper edge 5 arranged web 7 form a support edge and the web 8 arranged in the region of the lower edge 6 form a lever edge 12 for the crown cork.
- the term "bores” here stands for perforations in general, which are also not created by a boring process but by other machining or manufacturing measures, but fulfill the function intended for them with regard to prying off the crown cap.
- the handle body can be given an appealing appearance by the corresponding jacket type and color, which may even exceed the original jacket-less shape.
- a bottle opener is created, by means of which the safe opening with little effort is possible with only one hand.
