Definitions

  • the invention relates to a grinding device with a swivel shaft for the oscillating drive of a grinding tool about a device-fixed swivel axis, the grinding tool having a grinding surface with a triangular basic shape and with side surfaces, delimited by the corner regions, with a suction hood that can be fixed in place with a suction nozzle for suction of grinding dust is, which surrounds the grinding tool from above and at least partially laterally, and wherein the suction hood has a suction chamber into which the suction nozzle opens laterally.
  • Such a grinder is known from DE-A-37 24 747.
  • a plurality of suction openings are provided in the grinding surface, through which dust arising on the grinding surface can be suctioned off via a suction hood attached.
  • grinding devices of this type are only of limited suitability for fine machining of surfaces, in particular if they are made of relatively soft material, such as Acrylic glass, or made of very hard material, e.g. Rock, exist. Even with very careful work, the finest surface scratches cannot be avoided when grinding such materials using dry grinding.
  • a suction hood for a grinding device is also known, which can be placed on the grinding device from above, the suction hood covering the grinding device completely and projecting far at the edges.
  • an orbital sander has also become known, in which a suction hood is provided which surrounds the grinding tool from above and at least partially on the side, and wherein the suction hood has a suction chamber into which the suction nozzle opens laterally. Furthermore, the grinding surface is designed as a closed surface not penetrated by openings.
  • the present invention is accordingly based on the object of providing a grinding device in which the risk of scoring during grinding is reduced and at the same time a good suction effect is ensured.
  • this object is achieved in that, in a grinding device of the type mentioned at the outset, the grinding surface is designed as a closed surface which is not penetrated by openings, in that the suction hood overlaps the side surfaces of the grinding tool and in that the cross section of the suction chamber - viewed in the direction of the pivot axis - tapered from the extraction nozzle to the opposite corner area.
  • the grinding surface is thus designed as a closed surface.
  • the fact that no openings are provided in the grinding surface eliminates the problems which arise in conventional grinding devices at the edges of the suction openings. In this way, protrusions on the edges of suction openings are avoided, which can occur in conventional grinding devices due to greater mechanical stress in the vicinity of suction openings. At the same time, fraying of the grinding surface in the vicinity of suction openings is avoided and a uniform surface treatment is made possible.
  • the suction hood overlaps the side surfaces of the grinding tool, and the cross section of the suction chamber - viewed in the direction of the swivel axis, tapers from the suction nozzle to the opposite corner area.
  • the suction hood only encloses the grinder on the side at a small distance, the freedom of movement when machining edge and corner areas is hardly restricted.
  • the cross section of the suction chamber tapers from the suction nozzle to the opposite side of the grinding tool.
  • the suction chamber has a heart-shaped shape, the tip of the heart shape being assigned to the corner region of the grinding surface and the suction nozzle opening into the suction chamber opposite the tip.
  • the heart-shaped shape of the suction chamber enables a particularly favorable adaptation to the flow conditions. This avoids flow losses and, in connection with the reduction in cross-section in the suction chamber from the suction nozzle to the opposite corner area, achieves a uniform suction effect both at the distant corner area opposite the suction nozzle and at the two lateral corner areas which are closer to the suction nozzle.
  • the suction hood has a central receptacle for attachment to the drive housing, through which the pivot shaft is passed.
  • This version ensures that the suction hood is easily attached to the drive housing.
  • the receiving connector has an extension which projects into the suction chamber and which is sealed against the grinding tool.
  • the suction nozzle has an approximately kidney-shaped cross section with a lower, slightly convex outwardly curved side wall facing the grinding tool, which is assigned an upper, slightly concave outwardly curved side wall.
  • This shape of the suction nozzle enables the lowest possible flow resistance at the point where the suction nozzle opens into the heart-shaped suction channel, in the middle of which the extension of the receiving nozzle is arranged.
  • the suction hood is made of plastic. In this way, simple manufacture by injection molding and low weight are ensured.
  • a grinding device is generally designated by the number 10.
  • a swivel shaft 24 for the oscillating drive of a grinding tool 12 about a swivel axis 14 fixed to the device is arranged in a drive housing 30.
  • the structure and mode of operation of the drive corresponds entirely to the grinding device known from EP 0 244 465 B1.
  • the grinding tool 12 which has a triangular grinding surface 16, is fastened to the free end of the pivot shaft 24.
  • the grinding tool 12 is enclosed by a suction hood, which is designated overall by the number 20.
  • the suction hood 20 has a central receptacle 26, which is slightly tapered on the outside and continues inside the suction hood 20 with a cylindrical extension 38 to the grinding tool 12.
  • the receiving connector 26 is placed on the flange-shaped end of the drive housing 30 and can additionally be fastened thereon, for example, by means of a clamping ring.
  • a sealing ring 39 is embedded in the end face of the extension 38 and bears sealingly on the rear side 32 of the grinding tool 12 facing away from the grinding surface 16.
  • the suction hood 20 is adapted in its outer shape to the triangular shape of the grinding tool 12.
  • the suction hood 20 has three side faces 27, which are arranged symmetrically to the receiving connector 26 and are slightly convex on the outside, which cover the grinding tool 12 on its side faces 34 from the outside and are set back with their end faces 25 by a small distance from the grinding face 16, so that a small gap between a processing surface 44, over which the grinding tool 12 is guided, and the end faces 25 is formed.
  • the three side surfaces 27 of the suction hood are connected to one another by flattened corners 29.
  • the distance between the side surfaces 27 of the suction hood and the side surfaces 34 of the grinding tool 12 is selected such that the grinding tool can be pivoted about the pivot axis 14 by a small pivoting angle of up to approximately 7 ° with a high frequency up to approximately 25,000 vibrations per minute, without the grinding tool 12 touching the side surfaces 27 of the suction hood 20.
  • the side surfaces 27 and the corners 29 of the hood 20 are delimited by a hood cover 31 which extends approximately parallel to the rear side 32 of the grinding tool 12, but is slightly curved toward the central extension 38.
  • the distance between the hood cover 31 and the back 32 of the grinding tool 12 is only a few millimeters.
  • a suction chamber 28 is let into the hood ceiling 31, which extends from a suction nozzle 22 that opens laterally between two corners 29 of the suction hood 20 to the opposite corner 29.
  • the suction chamber 28 has in accordance with the bottom view.
  • Fig. 3 shows a heart shape, with the tip 36 of the heart shape ending directly at the corner 29 of the suction hood.
  • the suction chamber 28 surrounds the central extension 38 symmetrically on both sides and, with its wide end opposite in the tip 36, merges directly into the suction nozzle 22 via an opening 23.
  • the cross section of the suction chamber 28 is tapered from the opening 23 to its opposite tip 36. This is achieved in that the distance h between the hood ceiling 31 and the top of the suction chamber 28 decreases continuously from the side of the suction nozzle 22 to the tip 36. At its tip 36, the suction chamber 28 runs out of the hood ceiling 31.
  • the cross section of the suction nozzle 22 can be seen from FIG. 4.
  • the suction nozzle 22 is approximately kidney-shaped in cross section with a lower, slightly convex outwardly curved side wall 40 facing the grinding tool 12, to which an upper, slightly concave outwardly curved side wall 42 is assigned.
  • the two approximately parallel side walls 40, 42 merge into one another in the edge region via curved sections 43.
  • a plug-in part 21 can be inserted, the cross section of which is matched to the suction nozzle 22, so that there is a largely airtight connection.
  • the plug is in a manner not shown guided parallel to the drive housing 30, can additionally gem.
  • DE 37 24 747 A 1 mentioned at the beginning can be held on the drive housing 30 via a bracket or with a Velcro strap and is connected to a suction device via a suction hose.
