Definitions

  • the invention relates to a vacuum cleaner with a vacuum chamber, a liquid container arranged underneath and connected to the vacuum chamber, with a motor-driven fan in the vacuum chamber generating a vacuum, the suction opening of which is connected to the vacuum chamber, and with a suction line for the Dust that runs upwards from its mouth from the bottom area of the liquid container.
  • a filter usually a filter bag, is provided in the vacuum chamber, which consists either of a textile material, for example a fleece, or of an air-permeable paper material.
  • the filter must allow a certain air throughput, since otherwise the vacuum required for the suction of the dust cannot be generated in the vacuum chamber and the motor driving the blower is not adequately cooled by the conveyed air.
  • a liquid filter For example, a vacuum cleaner is already known from NL-A 32 508, in which a liquid container is provided below the vacuum chamber, in which a vacuum is generated by means of a blower, in the bottom area of which the suction line for the dust opens. The dust sucked in via this suction line is thus conveyed into the liquid in the liquid container and bound there.
  • care must now be taken to ensure that liquid droplets laden with dust do not get into the vacuum chamber and are conveyed back from there via the air outlet openings of the blower into the space to be cleaned.
  • a vacuum cleaner has become known from US Pat. No. 2,468,934, in which a plurality of dividing walls, which are partially designed as a sieve, are arranged in the liquid container and extend across the entire cross section of the liquid container and extend across the suction line for the dust, extending from the bottom region thereof.
  • the object of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantages of the known vacuum cleaners and to create a vacuum cleaner in which practically all the dust sucked in via the suction line is retained, that is to say no small particles emerge again via the air outlet openings of the blower.
  • the invention proposes that in the liquid container above the mouth of the suction line transverse to this, itself slats extending only over part of the cross section of the liquid container are provided, the free edge of which, which is arranged at a distance from the wall of the liquid container, is provided with a projection projecting downwards, with the neighboring slats partially overlapping one another.
  • the dust sucked in through the suction line thus enters a liquid bath and is mixed there with the liquid and finally deposited as sludge on the bottom of the liquid container.
  • This also applies to fine dust particles as well as bacteria, viruses or the like. which are thus bound in the liquid.
  • Adjacent lamellae are expediently fastened to the wall of the liquid container at opposite points thereof, so that a long, meandering flow path of the air in the liquid is achieved and complete calming is thereby ensured.
  • a partition wall extending over the entire cross section of the liquid container can be provided at the upper end of the liquid container, in which an opening opening into the vacuum chamber is arranged, preferably in the center. It expediently extends from the partition wall, preferably cylindrical, around the opening downward, ie in the direction of the liquid container.
  • a cover arranged at a distance from the partition can be provided above the opening, which is preferably attached to the partition by spacers.
  • the edge of the cover is expediently angled downward, as a result of which the liquid film forming on the cover is retained.
  • an overflow opening provided with a safety valve is provided above the uppermost lamella in the wall of the liquid container, through which an excess part of the liquid can escape if, for example, the liquid level in the liquid container rises due to the deposition of the dust sludge on the bottom thereof.
  • the liquid contained therein can be separated from any liquid mist that may be present in the vacuum chamber if the escape of completely dry air is required through the air outlet openings of the fan, although this is not necessary be that the suction opening of the fan is covered by an air-permeable water separation screen.
  • This water separating screen can consist of a textile or paper material or a fine-meshed metal screen.
  • the blower is preferably arranged in the cover of the vacuum chamber and the suction opening is formed by a tubular extension part running in the direction of the opening of the partition, which likewise prevents any liquid particles that may still be penetrating into the blower or the blower motor.
  • water can be used as the liquid, but also any other liquid, for example a disinfectant liquid, which the bacteria, viruses or the like. kills. It is also possible to add a disinfectant and / or an odorant to the water, in which case a pleasant fragrance is simultaneously spread in the room to be cleaned. Finally, an anti-freeze can also be added to the water in order to prevent the water from freezing when the vacuum cleaner according to the invention is used at low temperatures, for example when used outdoors in winter.
  • a disinfectant liquid which the bacteria, viruses or the like. kills.
  • a disinfectant and / or an odorant to the water, in which case a pleasant fragrance is simultaneously spread in the room to be cleaned.
  • an anti-freeze can also be added to the water in order to prevent the water from freezing when the vacuum cleaner according to the invention is used at low temperatures, for example when used outdoors in winter.
  • the vacuum cleaner according to the invention can be used not only for cleaning rooms, but also for extracting the dust that arises during the cutting or grinding work of workpieces, for example during stone processing.
  • a stone processing for example when cutting stones with a cutting disc or a saw blade, large amounts of very fine dust occur, through which the filter of the known vacuum cleaner described above is added in a short time, so that the air flow through the filter is prevented and the vacuum cleaner becomes inoperative.
  • the vacuum cleaner according to the invention has a preferably cylindrical housing 1, which is covered at its upper end by a cover 2.
  • the cover 2 is connected in an airtight manner to the housing 1 in a manner known per se, not shown in detail.
  • a vacuum chamber 3 In the upper part of the housing 1 there is a vacuum chamber 3, in the lower part of the housing 1 there is a liquid container 4, in which there is a liquid, especially water. The liquid level is indicated at 5.
  • a negative pressure is generated in the vacuum chamber 3 by a motor-driven blower 6 arranged in the cover 2, the suction opening of which opens into the vacuum chamber 3 and is surrounded by a tubular extension part 7 and which is provided on the outside of the cover with air outlet openings 8.
  • the mouth 10 of the suction line 9 In the liquid container 4 there is an upward-running suction line 9, the mouth 10 of which is arranged in the bottom region of the liquid container 4. The end of this suction line 10 protruding from the housing 1 is connected to a vacuum cleaner hose in a known manner, not shown.
  • a plurality of parallel slats 11 Above the mouth 10 of the suction line 9, a plurality of parallel slats 11 are arranged transversely to the suction line 9 and to one another and to the bottom of the container 1, with adjacent slats always being attached to the wall of the liquid container 4 at opposite points thereof, so that they partially overlap one another.
  • the free edge of the slats 11 is provided with a downwardly projecting projection 12, the lower end of which is bent back in the direction of the fastening point at 13.
  • the slats are additionally supported by spacers 14.
  • the air flow indicated by the arrows arises in the liquid container 4, the air bubbles present in the liquid are smashed and liquid particles are prevented from being entrained upwards.
  • an overflow pipe 15 opens into the liquid container 4, the overflow opening 16 of which is provided with a safety valve 17 which opens when the liquid level 5 in the liquid container 4 rises, as a result of which part of the liquid is discharged through the overflow pipe 15.
  • the liquid container 4 is separated from the vacuum chamber 3 by a partition 18 in which an opening 19 is provided in the center. From this partition wall 18, a cylindrical connecting piece 20 surrounding the opening 19 extends downwards. A cover 21 is provided above the opening 19 and is fastened to the partition 18 via spacers 22. The edge 23 of the cover 21 is angled downwards.
  • the attachment part 7 is from a water separating screen 24 surrounded, which is connected to the cover 2 interchangeably and can consist of an air-permeable textile or paper material or a fine-meshed metal sieve.
  • the design of the vacuum cleaner according to the invention enables practically complete separation of even the finest dust particles as well as existing bacteria, viruses or the like.
