Abstract

576,851. Washing air. NIELD, D. March 29, 1944, No. 5747. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Dirt from the suction air of a vacuum cleaner is removed prior to its passage through a pump 3, Fig. 1, by passing the dirt laden air from cleaning nozzle 8 to the bottom of a partially filled liquid receptable 4, Fig. 2, containing baffle plates 9, 10 providing a sinuous passage and having a removable air-tight lid 5 fitted with a spring-loaded suction valve 12 and an outlet 14. The resulting sludge is removable via outlet tube 16 fitted with screw cap 15 and communicating through apertures 17, 18 with the body of the container. Vacuum from the pump source 3 is applied directly to the liquid surface.
