Abstract

559,300. Filters. COURTNEY, J. R. June 9, 1942, No. 7839. [Class 46] The filter bags in a spirit filter, used in conjunction with dry cleaning plant and of the kind comprising a chamber 10 with an inlet pipe 11 and a suction pipe 12 in which are mounted tubes 13<SP>1</SP> carrying reticulated frames 13 enclosed in textile bags, are cleaned by partially emptying the chamber and gasifying a portion of the remaining spirit so that the gases rise past the bags, the gases being led by a pipe 15 to a condenser for re-use. The foreign matter removed from the bags drops into a sump 10<SP>1</SP> provided with draining means (not shown). The spirit may be gasefied by passing steam through pipes 14.
