Definitions

  • the invention relates to a circular comb segment for attachment to a circular comb roller of a combing machine, with a base body which has an outer peripheral surface which is in the form of a cylindrical segment and extends from a front edge to a rear edge and is equipped with combing needles or combing sets.
  • Rotating round combs with such round comb segments are usually used in combing machines.
  • a pair of pliers holds a fiber beard for combing out the round comb segment each time it rotates.
  • the circular comb can rotate at up to about 300 rpm and the cotton to be combed can be fed to the pliers unit at an average speed of up to almost 2 m / min and with a weight of up to about 230 g / m2, ie up to about 4.5 g of cotton per minute and per cm of width of the round comb. If you want to increase production further by increasing the speed and / or increasing the cotton weight, you have to determine that the fiber beard held in front of the circular comb segment is no longer combed perfectly and completely.
  • the object of the invention is to design a circular comb segment of the type specified at the outset in such a way that even with increased production, i.e. increased speed and / or increased cotton weight, the fiber beard is combed completely and properly.
  • the known round comb segments of the specified type which are common today, have a base body, generally a drawn base body, on each of which a protruding ledge with bores is formed on the front edge and behind the rear edge of the outer circumferential surface, which take up screws, which are screwed into a circular comb roller in order to fix the circular comb segment to the roller.
  • the front fastening strip of the base body which protrudes forward over the front edge of the outer peripheral surface and thus also over the foremost combing needles or combing tips, prevents the increase in production.
  • the front fastening strip comes into contact with the fibers of the fiber beard held up to the circular comb segment before they are gripped by the foremost combing needles or clothing tips. If you now increase the speed and / or the cotton weight, the front fastening strip can push or fling away some of the fibers of the fiber beard so far that the fiber beard is no longer completely pierced by the combing needles or clothing tips and is pulled into the round comb segment.
  • the circular comb segment according to the invention is therefore characterized in that in the circumferential direction in front of a plane which passes through the axis of the cylindrical segment shape and through the front edge, there is a free space which extends in the radial direction from the front Edge extends at least over most of the thickness of the base body and extends in the direction of the width of the base body from the center of the front edge to both sides over at least most of the width of the base body.
  • the previously common, continuous front fastening strip on the base body should therefore be eliminated.
  • the base body must therefore be attached to the round comb roller in the area of its front edge in a manner different from what has been customary up to now. There are various possibilities for this, some of which can be found in the following description of exemplary embodiments of the invention with reference to the drawings.
  • the free one extends Space in front of said level over the entire thickness and / or over the entire width of the base body.
  • FIGS. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 only one half of the circular comb segment is shown, the other half is symmetrical to the half shown.
  • Each of the circular comb segments shown has a base body 1 with an outer circumferential surface 2, which extends in the form of a cylinder segment from a front edge 3 to a rear edge 4.
  • the outer peripheral surface 2 is equipped with combing needles or combing sets 5. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11, a plane E is drawn with a broken line, which goes through the front edge 3 of the outer peripheral surface 2 and through the axis of the cylindrical segment shape of this outer peripheral surface.
  • the round comb segments are each on one also attached with a broken line circular comb roller R of a combing machine, with screws (not shown) which are screwed into threaded holes in the circular comb roller R.
  • a fastening strip 6 or 7 that is continuous over the entire width of the base body is in each case on the base body 1 in front of the front edge 3 and behind the rear edge 4 of the outer peripheral surface 2 molded.
  • the front fastening bar 6 contains two bores 8
  • the rear fastening bar 7 contains two bores 9.
  • the bores 8 and 9 receive the screws (not shown) with which the round comb segment is fastened on the round comb roller R.
  • the circular comb segments each work with a pair of pliers, which is only indicated in FIG. 1 and consists of lower pliers 10 and upper pliers 11.
  • the pliers unit holds the round comb segment in front of each round of the round comb roller R with a fiber beard F from a cotton wool (not shown) fed to the pliers unit.
  • the continuous front fastening strip 6 is therefore omitted and instead there is a free space in the circumferential direction in front of the plane E, which extends radially from the front edge 3 at least over most of the thickness of the base body 1 and extends in the direction of the width of the base body 1 from the center M of the front edge 3 to both sides over at least the largest part of the width of the base body.
  • the rear mounting strip 7 with the two holes 9 can be maintained as shown.
  • a recess 13 is provided in the outer peripheral surface 2 adjacent to the front edge 3 and adjacent to the side edges 12 of the peripheral surface 2, from which a radial bore 14 extends through the base body 1.
  • the holes 14 each receive a screw (not shown) which is screwed into the circular comb roller R in order to hold the circular comb segment in the region of the front edge 3 on the circular comb roller R. Because of the recesses 13, the foremost row of the combing sets 5 does not extend over the entire width of the base body 1. However, since the recesses 13 are arranged on the outside, adjacent to the side edges 12, and no more than about 5% of the width of the base body 1 take, there are no disadvantages.
  • the free space in front of the plane E extends in this circular comb segment both in the radial direction from the front edge 3 over the entire thickness d of the base body 1 and in the direction of the width of the base body 1 over the entire width of the same.
  • lugs 15 are formed on the base body 1 in the region of the two ends of the front edge, each of which has a bore 16 for receiving a fastening screw (not shown) which can be screwed into the circular comb roller R.
  • the projections 15 can extend beyond the plane E as shown.
  • the free space in front of the plane E then extends in the central region of the width of the base body 1 from the front edge 3 over the entire thickness of the base body 1, this central region, from the center M up to the two lugs 15, at least 80 % and preferably at least 90% of the width of the base body 1.
  • approaches 15 may be provided, which extend behind the plane E to the sides.
  • a projection 17 is formed on the front of the base body 1, which can be continuous over the entire width of the base body 1, so that the base body 1 can be produced as a drawn body.
  • clamping plates 18 are provided, each of which has a bore 19 for receiving a fastening screw which can be screwed into the circular comb roller R.
  • the clamping plates 18 each have a clamping projection 18a, with which they engage on the projection 17 in order to clamp it against the peripheral surface of the circular comb roller R.
  • the free space in front of the plane E extends in the radial direction from the front edge 3 to the projection 17 and thus, since the height of the projection is relatively small, over most of the thickness of the base body, namely over at least about 75 to 80% of this thickness.
  • the radial distance from the front edge 3 to the projection 17 should be at least 10 mm and preferably at least 12 mm.
  • the said middle range of the width of the Base body 1 also extends here over at least 80 to 90% of the entire width of base body 1.
  • a projection 21 is formed on the base body 1 on its front, in which 1 holes 22 are arranged at the ends of the width of the base body for receiving fastening screws to be screwed into the round comb roller.
  • the projection 21 can be continuous over the entire width of the base body 1.
  • the protrusion 21 is displaced radially inward from the front edge 3 and inserted into the circular comb roller R such that the free space in front of the plane E in the radial direction is at least 80% and preferably at least 90% of that behind the protrusion 21 measured thickness d of the base body 1 extends.
  • the radial distance from the front edge 3 to the projection 21 should be at least 10 mm and preferably at least 12 mm.
