Definitions

  • the invention relates to a short inking unit of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.
  • the previously desired, large width of the printing strip between the application roller and plate cylinder can result in uncontrollable shear forces acting on the ink, which can have a negative effect on the inking of the printing form.
  • a soft rubber blanket has a tendency to swell, so that there are relative speeds and development errors between the application roller and plate cylinder, which leads to increased wear of the printing form and to the risk of stenciling.
  • BE-A 557 069 shows a long inking unit with an application roller, the diameter of which corresponds to the diameter of the printing form to be inked and which is provided with an elastic cover, the ends of which are fixed on the flanks of an axially parallel roller channel.
  • this prior publication does not contain any useful teaching for eliminating the disadvantages of the generic prior art.
  • DE-A 20 12 649 shows a sleeve made of elastomeric, kneadable polyurethane for an application roller.
  • This sleeve should have a thickness of 1.25mm and a hardness of 60 ° or 62 ° shore.
  • This prior publication also does not contain any useful information for avoiding the disadvantages of the generic prior art, especially since there is no sleeve, but rather a rubber blanket to be used.
  • any changes in diameter of the applicator roller and the stress on the printing form from the applicator roller are no greater than the tolerable changes in diameter of the blanket cylinder and the tolerable stresses on the printing form from the rubber blanket cylinder, thus ensuring gentle operation and effectively preventing stenciling.
  • FIG. 1 The arrangement on which FIG. 1 is based consists, in a manner known per se, of two rolls which roll on one another and which press the web of paper 1 passed between them, each covered with a blanket cylinder 2 on its circumference, each with a plate cylinder 3 on which hard printing plates in the form of Metal plates are clamped together.
  • the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 3 are held at their ends by clamping devices arranged in the circumferentially arranged cylinder pits 4.
  • the cylinder pits 4 of the blanket cylinder 2 and plate cylinder 3 are arranged so that they pass through the cylinder contact area roll on each other.
  • the inking of the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 3 takes place by means of an application roller 5 which rolls on the plate cylinder 3 at the same peripheral speed.
  • the diameter of the application roller 5 corresponds to the diameter of the plate cylinder 3, which here also corresponds to the diameter of the rubber cylinder 2.
  • the application roller 5 is supplied with ink by an anilox roller 7 which interacts with a doctor blade 6.
  • the anilox roller 7 can be dyed in any way and is immersed in an ink fountain 8 in the illustrated embodiment.
  • the axial orientation and the width of the rubber blankets 10a correspond to the axial orientation and width of the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 3.
  • the rubber blankets 10a are glued to the steel jacket 9.
  • rubber blankets provided with a self-adhesive coating, which is covered with a removable protective film can be used. These can simply be stuck on by pulling off the protective film, to achieve a certain contact pressure a placement of the applicator roller 5 on the plate cylinder 3 and a slow cylinder rotation, for example with the help of the washing drive, can take place.
  • the blankets 10a which can be fixed on the circumference of the application roller 5 consist of a textile backing layer with a rubber-elastic overlay.
  • the total thickness of the rubber blankets 10a can be 1.5 mm to 4.5 mm and is 2.5 mm in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • the hardness of the rubber blankets 10a can be 60 ° to 80 °, preferably 65 ° - 70 ° Shore and is 68 ° Shore in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • Such a rubber blanket is also suitable for transferring the color to the paper web 1.
  • the rubber cylinders 2 are accordingly covered with a rubber blanket of the same thickness and hardness as the rubber blankets 10a of the applicator roller 5.
  • the ends of the rubber blankets 10a received on the applicator roller 5 are clamped between two clamping surfaces to secure them against tearing and crushing.
  • This can be the clamping surfaces of a clamping device.
  • the ends of the rubber blankets 10a lie on the outwardly converging flanks of an associated circumferential channel 11 of the application roller 5 and are secured by a retaining strip 12 which overlaps them in the region of the circumferential channel 5 and which the flanks of the circumferential channel 11 has parallel flanks, so that mutually parallel clamping surfaces result, between which the ends of the rubber blankets 10a can be clamped.
  • the retaining strips 12 have a trapezoidal shape Cross-section with flat, mutually parallel peripheral surfaces and side surfaces converging towards the outside.
  • the length of the holding strips 12 corresponds, as can be seen in FIG. 2, to the width of the respectively associated rubber blanket 10a, so that each rubber blanket 10a is assigned its own holding strip 12.
  • the holding strips 12 can be clamped by means of a quick release device.
  • the holding strips 12 are simply secured by holding screws 13 which are uniformly distributed over their length and which engage in the steel base 9 and whose head, as FIG. 3 further shows, is countersunk in relation to the outer surface of the associated holding strip 12 arranged radially within the effective roller circumference.
  • the length of the rubber blankets 10a corresponds to the circumference of the applicator roller 5.
  • the opposite ends of the rubber blankets 10a accordingly engage in the same circumferential channel 11.
  • four rubber blankets 10a arranged next to one another are provided over the length of the applicator roller 5 and are offset in pairs by 180 °, so that two are in the axial direction by their length and circumferentially by 180 ° offset circumferential channels 11 result.
  • the application roller 5 is set relative to the plate cylinder 3 that the circumferential channels 11 roll through the nip between applicator roller 5 and plate cylinder 3 on the cylinder pits 4 of the plate cylinder 3 and outside the cylinder pits 4 there is a reliable inking of the printing plates.
  • the maximum width of the circumferential channels 11 is smaller than or at most the same size as the clear width of the cylinder pits 4 of the plate cylinder 3.
  • the rubber blankets arranged next to one another as can also be seen in FIG , so that there are groove-shaped recesses 14 between adjacent rubber blankets 10a, which allow the application roller 5 to be acted on with different colors.
  • two stop pins 15 are shown in FIG. 3 in the region of the flank of the circumferential channels 11 receiving the blanket start for each associated blanket, ie per printing plate width, offset with respect to one another in the axial direction intended.
  • the axial distance between the stop pins 15 belonging together in pairs can be dimensioned such that the respectively associated rubber blanket 10a rests with its side flanks on the stop pins 15. In the illustrated embodiment, this is intended The distance should be a little smaller than the blanket width. Accordingly, as indicated in FIG.
  • the rubber blankets 10a are provided in the region of their leading edge with recesses 16 formed here by punched holes, the spacing and clear width of which corresponds to the spacing and the diameter of the associated stop pins 15.
  • the rubber blankets 10a When the rubber blankets 10a are stuck on, they can accordingly be suspended with their recesses 16 on the stop pins 15 provided on the roller side, which automatically results in the desired right-angled orientation.
  • the length of the stop pins 15 is dimensioned such that they protrude from the respectively assigned rubber blanket 10a with a safety distance, which facilitates handling.
