Definitions
- the invention relates to diaphragm walls, in particular for civil engineering and tunnel structures, in which first earth slots are excavated and filled with thixotropic mass and then sealing sheets are lowered into the thixotropic mass, which are provided with connecting elements which are made of welded or one-piece and pluggable into one another with the sealing sheets Profiles exist.
- Such diaphragm walls are used above all in the sealing of landfills or in the sealing of liquid-holding containers or liquid-carrying lines or channels.
- the prerequisite is always that there is a natural barrier layer below the area to be sealed laterally.
- Clay layers often occur as natural barrier layers.
- the diaphragm walls are then excavated to the side of the area to be sealed down to the clay layer underneath and at the same time filled with thixotropic mass. Bentonite can be used as the thiotrope mass. Bentonite itself forms a certain seal. In order to achieve a clear seal, however, either an extremely thick bentonite layer is required or the thin layer consisting of bentonite must be provided with an additional seal. There is also a proposal to lower the waterproofing membrane into the bentonite layer.
- the waterproofing membranes usually have a width between 1 m and 2.5 m. Even if larger widths can be produced, the question arises of connecting the individual sealing sheets together to form a longer seal for a diaphragm wall.
- the common connection technique is a welding process. A sealing membrane created in this way is difficult to handle if it exceeds a certain length. Therefore, in addition to the above-mentioned proposal, it is provided to provide the individual sealing sheets at the connection points with profiles that can be plugged into one another.
- the profiles can be molded or welded on. These interlocking profiles form a kind of tongue and groove or a lock.
- the seal between the interlocking profiles is made purely mechanically. I.e.
- the invention has for its object to produce a sufficient seal between the interlocking profiles.
- This is achieved according to the invention by pressing with materials to be sealed, in particular synthetic resin.
- the profiles are provided with a channel which is closed in the circumferential direction and runs in the longitudinal direction of the profiles, which is accessible at the top of the diaphragm wall and merges into a gap below between the profiles which can be plugged into one another.
- the sealing material can be pressed into the channel from above. According to the invention, this continues until the sealing material emerges from the gap between the two mutually pluggable profiles again at the top. This indicates that the gap between the interlocking profiles is filled with sealing material.
- the channel preferably extends over the entire length of the profiles which can be plugged into one another. This ensures that the gap between the profiles is filled with sealing material over the entire length of the profiles.
- the two interlocking profiles consist of an inner and an outer profile. It is advantageous to close the outer profile at the bottom. This is preferably done with a stopper.
- the inner profile can have a T-shaped cross section. It can also be designed like a barb. The barbs are then formed by opposing webs that extend over the entire length of the profile.
- An I-section profile can also be added to the inner profile for better sealing. Likewise, several pairs of barbs can brought or molded.
- the outer profile is adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the inner profile.
- Figures 1 to 3 show a connection according to the invention of two sealing sheets with an inner profile that is T-shaped in cross section
- Figures 4 to 6 show a connection with an inner profile that is I-shaped in cross section.
- FIGS 1 to 3 two polyethylene waterproofing membranes to be connected are designated 1 and 2.
- the sealing membrane 2 is welded in a manner not shown to a T-shaped profile 6, the free legs of which are bent slightly in the manner of barbs.
- the sealing membrane 1 is welded to a profile 7.
- the profile 7 has a groove 8 adapted to the cross section of the profile 6.
- a bore 9 runs parallel to the groove 8 in the profile 7.
- the profile 7 is provided with a stopper 5 which closes the end of the profile 7 while leaving a channel 3 free.
- the channel 3 connects the bore 9 with a gap 4 remaining between the rear wall of the groove 8 and the head side of the profile 6.
- the embodiment according to Figures 4 to 6 differs from that according to Figures 1 to 3 by a cross-section I-shaped inner profile 10.
- the free legs of the I-shaped profile 10 are bent in the same way as that of the T-shaped profile 6.
- a profile 11 interacts with the I-shaped profile 10, the groove 12 of which is adapted to the cross section of the profile 10.
- the I-shaped profile offers greater resistance to tearing out, as well as a larger seal, irrespective of the sealing of the gap between the profiles 11 and 10 caused by the sealant.

Abstract
