Definitions

  • the invention relates to a rock drill with a shaft and this radially projecting drill head, with an end face pointing in the feed direction.
  • Rock drills are used to drill holes in rock, concrete, masonry and the like, which are used to hold fasteners, pass through pipes and cables and to blow up. So far, two different types of rock drill bits with carbide inserts have mainly been known.
  • Rock drills known from EP-A-0 048 908, which have one or more cutting plates, are relatively simple to manufacture and are mainly used in small dimensions up to a diameter of approximately 35 mm.
  • these drills have the disadvantage that the cutting edges of the cutting plates, particularly in the outer area, wear out quickly and so that the drilling progress decreases quickly. Handling is also impaired by the corner wear.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an economically producible rock drill that allows good removal of the drill material and compliance with an accurate drill hole geometry with high mining performance.
  • the object is achieved in that the discharge grooves run in the longitudinal direction of the drill head and the end face of the drill head is provided with cutting pins made of hard metal, the free ends of the cutting pins lying in the rotational surface formed by the cutting edges of the cutting plate.
  • the cutting insert leads in particular to a good drilling behavior of the rock drill in connection with a subsequent good concentricity, which ensures that a precise drill hole geometry is maintained.
  • the additional arrangement of the cutting pins ensures that the cutting plate and cutting pins are supplied to the material to be machined at substantially the same time, and so the cutting edges of the cutting plate are less worn and the drilling progress also slows down.
  • the requirement that the free end faces of the cutting pins lie in the rotational surface formed by the cutting edges of the cutting plate serves for this purpose. This ensures that the insert and cutting pins attack the material to be machined at the same time. The wear of the insert and cutting pins is thus kept low, which has a positive effect on the drilling progress.
  • At least some of the cutting pins can be arranged parallel to the drill axis. Since the cutting pins are mainly stressed in the direction of the drill axis, such an arrangement of the cutting pins provides good support in the drill head. By arranging the cutting pins parallel to the drill axis, they can also be arranged relatively close to the cutting plate. From the point of view of comminution of the drill material, at least some of the cutting pins can be arranged inclined to the drill axis. For example, in the case of a conical end face of the drilling head, the cutting pins can be arranged approximately perpendicular to the surface of the drilling head, which enables the cutting pins to be embedded to a maximum.
  • At least some of the cutting pins are advantageously arranged on different radii.
  • a part of the cutting pins expediently projects beyond the circumferential contour of the drill head.
  • These cutting pins which protrude beyond the circumferential contour, prevent the drill material from being compressed and jammed between the drill head and the wall of the borehole.
  • these cutting pins promote the creation of a high-quality borehole wall and ensure compliance with the exact borehole geometry.
  • the free ends of the cutting pins advantageously lie in the rotational surface formed by the cutting edges of the cutting plate.
  • the rock drill thus attacks the material to be machined simultaneously by the cutting plate and the cutting pins.
  • the wear of the cutting plate and cutting pins is kept low and the drilling progress is only slowed down considerably.
  • the hardness of the cutting pins is advantageously matched to that of the cutting plate, so that the cutting plate and the cutting pins are worn approximately uniformly and the engagement conditions are thus maintained.
  • the rock drill shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 essentially consists of a shank 1 and an associated drill head, designated overall by 2.
  • the shaft 1 is provided with a conveying helix 3, which serves on the one hand to guide the drill in the borehole and on the other hand to remove the cuttings.
  • the drill head 2 is provided with discharge grooves 4 running in the longitudinal direction, which serve for the passage of the cuttings from the end face 2a of the drill head 2 pointing in the feed direction to the shank 1.
  • the drill head 2 is provided with a centrally arranged cutting plate 5.
  • the cutting plate 5 projects beyond the drilling head 2 both in the radial direction and in the feed direction.
  • the remaining end face 2a of the drill head 2 is provided with cutting pins 6, 7.
  • the cutting pin 6 is arranged such that it runs parallel to the drill axis, while the cutting pin 7 is arranged inclined to the drill axis.
  • the cutting pins 6, 7 are inserted so deeply into the drilling head 2 that the free ends of the cutting pins 6, 7 lie in the rotational surface formed by the cutting edges 5a, 5b of the cutting plate 5. This results in uniform wear of the cutting plate 5 and cutting pins 6, 7 during drilling.
  • the rock drill shown in FIG. 4 which is somewhat larger in diameter, consists of a shaft 11 and an associated one, which projects beyond the shaft 11 in the radial direction, a total of 12 designated drill heads.
  • a separate conveyor helix 13 is arranged on the shaft 11.
  • the drill head 12 is provided with a centrally arranged cutting plate 15 on its end face 12a directed in the feed direction.
  • the rotating surface of the cutting plate 15 which arises when the rock drill is rotated is shown in dash-dotted lines.
  • the drill head 12 is also equipped with cutting pins 16, 17, 18, 19 on the end face 12a and on the circumference.
  • the cutting pins 17, 19 are arranged inclined to the drill axis.
  • the cutting pin 16, however, is arranged parallel to the drill axis.
  • the cutting pin 18 is arranged perpendicular to the drill axis and projects beyond the circumferential contour of the drill head 12.
  • the cutting pin 18 is in contact with the borehole wall during drilling and can be used, for example, to roughen it during the drilling process.
  • the cutting pins 16, 17, 18, 19 are arranged on different radii. This results in a good size reduction of the drilling material and an even distribution of the forces on the individual cutting pins. In this rock drill, too, the cutting pins 16, 17, 18, 19 are inserted so deeply into the drilling head 12 that their free end face lies in the rotational surface formed by the cutting edges of the cutting plate 15.
