- the intake valve 7 and the exhaust valve are substantially perpendicular to the face 2 and located, above the chamber 3, on the side of the side face 10, and each cooperate with one of two parallel pushers 13 , 14 actuated respectively by a cam 15 and a cam 16 integral with a shaft 17 carried by the cylinder head 1 parallel to the faces 2, 9 and 10.
- the intake valve 8 is significantly inclined with respect to the other two valves and is located, above the chamber 3, on the side of the side face 9, where it cooperates with a rocker arm oscillating on an axis 19 and actuated by a cam 20 of the shaft 17.
- This axis 19 is carried by several bearing caps 21 which hold the shaft 17 on transverse partitions 22 of the cylinder head 1.
- Each valve is conventionally returned to its seat by a spring such as that 23 corresponding to the valve 7.
- a cylinder head cover 24 covers the cylinder head 1 so as to protect the shaft 17 and its bearings 21, the rocker arms 18 and their axis 19 as well as the pushers 13, 14 and the springs.
- a fuel injector 25 opening into the intake duct 4 slightly upstream of the valve 7 passes through the cylinder head cover 24 by a bore 26, with the interposition of a ring d tightness 27, and is maintained on the cylinder head cover 24 by a supply pipe 28 fixed to the latter, and an annular spacer 29 made of slightly flexible material and good thermal insulator is sandwiched between the cylinder head 1 and the cylinder head cover 24 in line with bore 26, coaxially with injector 25.
- the injector 25, orthogonal to the shaft 17, is substantially parallel to the valve 8 and directed so that it provides a jet of fuel J reaching the valve 7 near its seat, wetting only a small area of the wall of the duct 4, which ensures optimum operation of the motor.
- An injector 25 being associated with each combustion chamber 3, the injectors 25 are mutually parallel and supplied with fuel by the line 28 which has a ramp 30 perpendicular to the injectors, provided with lateral tubular end pieces 31 each engaged on the outer end an injector 25, coaxially with it, with the interposition of a ring, of sealing 32.
- the pipe 28 is fixed to the cylinder head cover 24 by screws 33 passing through lugs 34 which project from the ramp 30.
- Each bore 26 is arranged at the bottom of a hollow portion 36 of the cylinder head cover.
- This portion 36 forming a funnel is interposed, in a direction parallel to the shaft 17, between two rockers 18 associated one with the chamber 3, the other with an adjacent chamber.
- This arrangement makes it possible to optimally approach the injector 25 of the valve 7, although the latter is distant from the face 9 where the associated duct opens out. This distance is advantageous because it allows the admission orifices in the chamber 3 (valves 7 and 8) to be roughly diametrically opposite, while leaving space, under the conduit 4, for a spark plug 37 whose electrodes are advantageously located near the center of the chamber 3.
- the injector 25 being carried by the cylinder head cover 24 and the latter being separated from the cylinder head 1 by the spacer 29 which is not very conductive of heat, the heating of the injector is lower than if it was conventionally fixed directly to the cylinder head 1. The risk of fuel evaporation in the injector is therefore reduced. Furthermore, the fixing of the ramp 30 to the cylinder head cover 24 by several screws 33, which can be relatively close together, gives the pipe 28 a satisfactory rigidity and a good resistance to vibrations, all the more so since these are somewhat filtered, in line with the cylinder head cover 24, by the usual seal 38 between the latter and the cylinder head 1 and by the flexible spacers 29.
