Definitions
- the invention relates to special benzoylalanines and their use as corrosion inhibitors for aqueous systems.
- Corrosion problems occur in numerous technical processes in which aqueous media come into contact with metallic surfaces, primarily surfaces made of iron, copper, aluminum, zinc or their versatile alloys. Examples of this are cleaning processes with aqueous technical cleaning solutions, cooling processes with water-containing coolant systems as well as cooling and simultaneous lubrication in the machining of metals.
- DE-AS 11 49 843 discloses half-amides of maleic acid or succinic acid as additives for fuel and lubricating oils.
- a disadvantage of these compounds, however, is that in most cases they are not water-soluble and therefore a homogeneous distribution in the entire process liquid cannot be guaranteed.
- EP-PS 0 002 780 likewise discloses half-amides of maleic acid as corrosion inhibitors for aqueous systems, a C number range from 9 to 12 being specified for the alkyl groups bonded to the amide nitrogen and also the resulting amic acids with mono-, di- or trialkanolamides or their mixtures are neutralized.
- Corrosion inhibitors for iron in alkaline media are also alkenyl succinic acids (DE-OS 29 43 963), long-chain sulfonamidocarboxylic acids (DE -AS 12 98 670) acyl sarcosinates (Winnacker-Küchler, Chemische Technologie, C. Hanser-Verlag Kunststoff (1960), page 199 ) or alkali metal benzoates have been proposed. To date, fatty amines or imidazolines have mostly been used for iron in weakly acidic media, without being entirely satisfactory.
- Alkali metal silicates or alkali metal benzoates are mostly used as corrosion inhibitors for aluminum in alkaline media, although these too often do not meet the requirements.
- a particular disadvantage of the compounds mentioned is that they are only effective in very high concentrations.
- German patent application with the file number P 34 16 120.1 discloses the use of benzoylalanines as corrosion inhibitors for aqueous systems which show excellent corrosion protection properties in addition to high water solubility and low foaming power.
- a disadvantage of the compounds mentioned is that they are sensitive to changes in the process water hardness and, moreover, do not have satisfactory temperature stability.
- R 3 represents a radical -C (CH 3 ) m (CH 2 OH) 3 -m, in which m represents an integer between 0 and 3, and their alkali and ammonium salts with ammonia, mono-, di- and triethanolamine .
- the invention also relates to the use of compounds of the general formula I in which R1, R2 and R3 have the meanings given above, and of their alkali metal or ammonium salts with ammonia, mono-, di- or triethanolamine as corrosion inhibitors in aqueous systems.
- Particularly suitable corrosion inhibitors are those compounds of the general formula (I) in which R 1 is hydrogen or a methyl radical and R 2 is an alkyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- Preferred substituents R 2 are methyl, ethyl, isopropyl and t-butyl.
- the benzoylalanines according to the invention are prepared by methods known per se. They can advantageously be synthesized in good yields, for example, by Friedel-Crafts acylation of benzene or alkylbenzenes with maleic anhydride and subsequent addition of suitable amines to the double bond of the 3-benzoylacrylic acids obtained in the first reaction step.
- the reaction path shown shows the following reaction scheme.
- alkali metal or ammonium salts with ammonia, mono-, di- or triethanolamine are formed from the compounds of the general formula (I) shown in the reaction scheme by neutralization with aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solutions or solutions of mono-, di- or triethanolamines.
- the benzoylalanines according to the invention can be used as anti-corrosion agents individually or in mixtures with one another in any ratio. They develop their beneficial effects in aqueous solutions, dispersions or emulsions. Even at low concentrations of inventions Benzoylalanine according to the invention is highly effective. For example, 0.5 kg is already sufficient for the corrosion protection of iron surfaces in alkaline media. m- 3 to achieve a high effectiveness of the anti-corrosion agent. In contrast, hitherto common inhibitors must be in a concentration of 2.5 to 10 kg. m- 3 can be applied.
- the special benzoylalanines according to the invention have good water solubility and a pronounced lack of foam in the concentrations used and are excellent in storage stability. Its improved water hardness stability compared to all other previously known agents suitable for corrosion protection is remarkable. This enables their use in aqueous systems of any composition, e.g. in water-based cleaning agents, lubricants for cooling circuits, hydraulic fluids, etc.
- aqueous systems containing the compounds according to the invention as corrosion inhibitors compounds of the general formula (I) or their alkali metal or ammonium salts are dissolved directly by methods known per se or in the form of aqueous concentrates which are very easy to assemble and have good storage stability, mixed with the respective aqueous systems.
- the corrosion protection properties were determined by determining the mass removal (DIN 50905 / 1-4) and the filter paper test (DIN 51360/2).
- Mass removal test three carefully pretreated and weighed metal strips (unalloyed steel, 80 x 15 x 1 mm) were hung in a 1 l vessel containing 800 ml test water, 50 ml buffer solution and a defined amount of substance to be examined, and 3 h Leave it at room temperature. The solution was run at a speed of 80 revs. m- 1 stirred.
- test water used as a corrosive medium was produced in accordance with DIN 51360/2 and buffered with ammonia / ammonium chloride to a pH of 9.0.
- Aqueous solutions of compounds of the general formula (I) with an active substance content of 12.5% and a diethanolamine content of 37.5% (remainder water) were annealed with stirring at 80 ° C. for four weeks.

Description
-
