Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-frequency connector for coaxial cables with a flexible, preferably braided outer conductor, consisting of a pin or socket part to be connected to the inner cable, an outer conductor sleeve held in coaxial position by means of an insulating body, a clamping sleeve comprising the cable and one The union nut to be screwed onto the outer conductor sleeve directly or via an additional threaded connector.
- the inner surface of the connector sleeve which has a conical inner surface that is tapered towards the coaxial cable, is pressed against a conical outer surface that is adapted to the cable end part of the clamping sleeve by means of collets.
- Such a high-frequency connector is already known from GB-A-679 410. Although it has an effective strain relief in an embodiment according to FIG. 3, it does not have sufficient external conductor contact. This is due to the fact that the galvanic connection between the cable braid 30 and the outer connector sleeve 10 is not as short as possible, as is a prerequisite for the proper functioning of coaxial HF connectors, but rather on the way through the clamping sleeve 11 and the union nut 13 , and on the other hand in that when the union nut is screwed on, the clamping sleeve can also rotate and thereby move the cable braid in such a way that it is no longer evenly distributed around the circumference, but is shifted indefinitely and thus prevents optimal HF transmission.
- the clamping sleeve must be made of metal because of the external conductor contact explained, more precisely because of the required elastic properties, which is at best very difficult and costly to implement in view of the necessary stability.
- the invention has for its object to provide a connector according to the preamble of claim 1, in which irrespective of the material of the ferrule in a simple and cost-saving manner a permanently safe outer conductor contact is achieved.
- the cable outer conductor can be pressed against the outer conductor sleeve by means of a conical inner surface of the plug-side end part of the clamping sleeve and the conical inner surface preferably has elevations formed in the form of axially extending longitudinal ribs, into which corresponding recesses in the surface of the outer conductor sleeve engage.
- High-frequency connectors designed according to claim 2 have the advantage that the clamping sleeve cannot be lost and the number of individual parts to be assembled is kept as low as possible.
- a wedge-shaped design of the edge section according to claim 4 is particularly suitable for tough materials of the cable sheath and offers an optimal strain relief.
- an embodiment according to claim 5 is particularly advantageous; This not only ensures good strain relief, but also further reduces the risk of the clamping sleeve twisting relative to the cable.
- FIG. 1 shows a partially sectioned view with the coaxial cable connected
- FIG. 2 shows a section through the clamping sleeve on an enlarged scale.
- the high-frequency connector 1 consists of an outer conductor sleeve 2 bent inwards at the ends, an inner conductor pin 4 held therein concentrically by means of an insulating part 3 and having a resilient clamping bush 5 at the cable end for receiving and contacting the cable inner conductor 6, as well as an in the press fit on the outer conductor sleeve 2 and with the cable-side end face on an annular bulge 7 insulating stub 8 with an external thread onto which a sleeve 9 designed as an insulating sleeve 9 with a knurled handle 10 can be screwed.
- a clamping sleeve 13 made of insulating material is captively and rotatably arranged. It has a shoulder 14 with an enlarged inner diameter and chamfered inner edge 15 at the plug-side end and is formed at the cable end by slots 16 in the form of a collet 9 adjusted.
- the grip sleeve 9 is first pushed over the end part of the stripped coaxial cable 19 and this is then inserted into the plug 1 with the cable braid 20 widened at the free end.
- the inner cable 6 slides through a guide ring 21 of the insulating part 3 into the clamping bush 5, which is held centrally by a further ring 22 of the insulating part 3, and the ends of which are funnel-shaped for easier insertion of the inner cable 6.
- the outer conductor sleeve 2 is pushed between the cable insulation 23 and the cable braid 20 projecting therefrom.
- the grip sleeve 9 is now pushed in the plugging direction and screwed onto the insulating ring 8.
- the spread cable braid 20 is gently bent through the attachment 14 of the clamping sleeve 13 and pressed over a large area against the outer conductor sleeve 2 by the conical inner surface of the attachment 14.
- the force caused by the axial movement of the grip sleeve 9 on the conical surfaces 12, 18 is broken down into two components, one of which causes the cable braid 20 to be further pressed against the outer conductor sleeve 2 by means of the collar 24 of the clamping sleeve 9, and the other one Wedge-shaped inwardly projecting edge sections of the clamping fingers 17 presses inward to relieve the strain on the coaxial cable 19.
- the edges of the edge sections resting on the cable 19 are designed such that, on the one hand, the best possible strain relief is achieved even with low radial forces, but on the other hand the risk of severing the cable protection jacket is avoided.
- the outer diameter of the clamping sleeve 13 is smaller than the inner diameter of the grip sleeve 9, so that together with the frictional forces on the wedge-shaped support and the inner surface of the extension 14, and above all by two opposite longitudinal ribs 25 projecting from the inner surface of the extension 14, which Press cable braid 20 into corresponding recesses of outer conductor sleeve 2, which are not visible in the figures, twisting of clamping sleeve 13 and in particular cable braid 20 when screwing handle sleeve 9 is effectively prevented.
- the cable connection can be detached at any time by screwing on and the high-frequency connector 1 according to the invention can be used for further connections.
