Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-frequency connector for coaxial cables with a flexible outer conductor, preferably in the form of a braid, consisting of a pin or socket part to be connected to the inner conductor, an outer conductor sleeve held in coaxial position by means of an insulating body, one directly or via one of these additional threaded connector to be screwed on and a clamping sleeve encompassing the cable, which presses the cable outer conductor against the outer conductor sleeve with its connector-side end part when the union nut is screwed on.
- a flexible outer conductor preferably in the form of a braid, consisting of a pin or socket part to be connected to the inner conductor, an outer conductor sleeve held in coaxial position by means of an insulating body, one directly or via one of these additional threaded connector to be screwed on and a clamping sleeve encompassing the cable, which presses the cable outer conductor against the outer conductor sleeve with
- Such a high-frequency connector is already known from DE-AS 23 43 o3o.
- the use of a clamping sleeve has the advantage of a significantly lower risk of, compared to known designs, for example according to DE-Gbm 7o 4o 555 and 71 23 36 0 , in which the clamping of the cable outer conductor acting simultaneously as contacting and strain relief is effected directly by the union nut Shearing, twisting or tearing of the cable braid, because a rotational movement of the contact member relative to the cable braid is practically avoided.
- the connection device known from the abovementioned design specification also has the advantage of a flat contact of the cable braid with the outer conductor sleeve.
- connection Devices known that also have ferrule-like structures are connected on one side with plug parts and are only intended for clamping the outer conductor to the free end part.
- rotary movements between the cable braid and the union nut are effectively avoided, but neither the requirements for adequate contacting nor satisfactory strain relief are met, because the pressure area is very small and the clamping must not be too strong so that the cable braid is not severed.
- This risk is particularly great for connectors according to DE-GBM 69 16 82 0 because the free ends of the resilient tongues must be pointed and / or compressed with great force in order to penetrate the cable sheath.
- the invention has for its object to provide a connector according to the preamble of claim 1, in which a permanently safe outer conductor contact and at the same time an effective strain relief of the coaxial cable is achieved in a simple and cost-saving manner.
- the union nut with an inner surface which is conical towards the coaxial cable can be pressed against an adapted conical outer surface of the cable-side end part of the clamping sleeve, which is preferably formed by longitudinal slots. Due to the arrangement of the conical outer surface on the cable-side end part of the clamping sleeve, the force acting when the union nut is screwed on is divided into two components, one of which is directed axially and causes the cable braid to be pressed properly against the outer conductor sleeve, and the other of which is directed radially and the cable-side end part the clamping sleeve presses against the cable braid or cable protection jacket for strain relief.
- the strength of the components can be freely determined by appropriate choice of taper. There is neither a Be damage to the cable braid or the cable jacket. Last but not least, there is the advantage that the clamping sleeve can be easily pushed over the cable and can be used within a relatively large range for cables of different outside diameters.
- High-frequency connectors designed according to claim 2 have the advantage that the clamping sleeve cannot be lost and the number of individual parts to be assembled is kept as low as possible.
- An embodiment of the clamping sleeve according to claim 4 complements this beneficial effect by a problem-free bending of the braid without the risk of damaging it and the contact pressure caused by the conicity of the approach.
- the low residual risk that the clamping sleeve could twist somewhat with respect to the cable braiding and the outer conductor sleeve when the union nut is screwed on is completely eliminated.
- a wedge-shaped design of the edge section is particularly suitable for tough materials of the cable sheath and offers an optimal strain relief
- an embodiment according to claim 8 is particularly advantageous; This not only ensures good strain relief, but also further reduces the risk of the clamping sleeve twisting relative to the cable.
- FIG. 1 shows a partially sectioned view with the coaxial cable connected
- FIG. 2 shows a section through the clamping sleeve on an enlarged scale.
- the high-frequency connector 1 consists of an outer conductor sleeve 2 which is bent inwards at the ends, an inner conductor pin 4 held therein concentrically by means of an insulating part 3, which has a resilient clamping bush 5 at the cable-side end for receiving and contacting the cable inner conductor 6, and one which is pre-seated on the outer conductor sleeve 2 applied and with the cable end face on an annular bead 7 insulating ring 8 with an external thread onto which a union nut designed as an insulating sleeve 9 with a knurled handle lo can be screwed on.
- a clamping sleeve 13 made of insulating material is captively and rotatably arranged in the grip sleeve 9 between an inner bead 11 and a conical inner surface 12. It has an extension 14 on the plug-side end with an enlarged inner diameter and chamfered inner edge 15 and is formed on the cable-side end by means of collets 16.
- the end parts of the resilient clamping fingers 17 protrude in a wedge shape, their outer surface 18 is matched to the conical inner surface 12 of the grip sleeve 9.
- the grip sleeve 9 is first pushed over the end part of the stripped coaxial cable 19 and this is then inserted into the plug 1 with the cable braid 20 expanded at the free end.
- the inner cable 6 slides through a guide ring 21 of the insulating part 3 into the clamping
- the force caused by the axial movement of the grip sleeve 9 on the conical surfaces 12, 18 is broken down into two components, one of which causes the cable braid 20 to be further pressed against the outer conductor sleeve 2 by means of the collar 24 of the clamping sleeve 9, and the other one wedge-shaped inwardly projecting end parts of the clamping fingers 17 presses inward to relieve the strain on the coaxial cable 19.
- the edges of the tensioning fingers 17 resting on the cable 19 are designed in such a way that, on the one hand, the best possible strain relief is achieved even with low radial forces, but on the other hand the risk of severing the cable protection jacket is avoided.
- the outer diameter of the clamping sleeve 13 is smaller than the inner diameter of the handle sleeve 9, so that together with the frictional forces on the wedge-shaped support and the inner surface of the extension 14, twisting of the clamping sleeve 13 when the handle sleeve 9 is screwed on is effectively prevented.
- the cable connection can be detached at any time by screwing on and the high-frequency connector 1 according to the invention can be used for further connections.

Abstract
