Description
- Verfahren zur Herstellung hochwertiger Schmieröle Die aus Erdölen gewonnenen Zylinderöle haben einen Viscositätsindex von i oo bis höchstens i io. Für stark beanspruchte Lager oder für Getriebe sind aber Schmieröle erwünscht, die einen Index von 120 und mehr aufweisen. Es wurde schon vorgeschlagen, den Viscositätsindex der Öle dadurch zu verbessern, daß man ihnen synthetische hochmolekulare Kohlenwasserstoffe, z. B. Kondensationsprodukte von Hart- oder Weichparaffin oder deren Spaltprodukten, zusetzt. So kann man beispielsweise durch Mischen eines mit Nitrobenzol raffinierten FFF Valve Öls (amerikanisches Erdöldestillat), das einen Viscositätsindex von i i i bis 112 besitzt, mit einer geringen Menge eines synthetischen Kondensationsproduktes den Index des Öles verbessern; jedoch gelangt man nicht zu dem gewünschten Index von 120 und darüber, weil von den hochmolekularen Zusätzen nur eine begrenzte Menge angewandt werden kann, da sonst die absolute Viscosität des Schmieröls unerwünscht hoch wird.
- Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man hochwertige Schmieröle herstellen kann, wenn man aus Schmierölen, insbesondere solchen, die einen verhältnismäßig hohen Viscositätsindex haben, den hochmolekularen Anteil, nämlich Harze, Asphalte, hochmolekulare Paraffine einschließlich hochmolekularer Schmierölanteile, durch Behandlung mit verflüssigten, bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffen entfernt und die vom Lösungsmittel befreiten löslichen Anteile mit öllöslichen Kondensationsprodukten von hochmolekularen, ganz oder vorwiegend aus Hart-oder Weichparaffin bestehenden Kohlenwasserstoffen oder Polymerisationsprodukten von Olefinen und Diolefinen, wie Isobutylen, oder deren Hydrierungsprodukten, die einen höheren Wasserstoffgehalt als die entfernten hochmolekularen Anteile aufweisen, versetzt.
- Als Ausgangsstoffe kommen Schmieröle beliebiger Herkunft in Frage. Sie können aus Erdölen oder Teeren sowie deren Spaltprodukten, ferner aus Druckhydrierungsprodukten kohlenstoffhaltiger Stoffe gewonnen werden. Vorteilhaft eignen sich solche Schmieröle, die schon einen Viscositätsindex von ioo bis i io aufweisen.
- Diese Öle werden erfindungsgemäß mit verflüssigten, bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffen, wie Methan, Äthan, Propan, Butan, Pentan, Athylen, Propylen, Butylen, Acetylen oder Gemischen dieser, behandelt. Hierdurch wird der hochmolekulare Anteil ausgefällt, während der niedrigmolekulare in Lösung geht. Man arbeitet hierbei zweckmäßig bei Temperaturen zwischen -4o' und +70' oder höher. Der anzuwendende Druck ist so zu wählen, daß das zugesetzte Lösungsmittel flüssig bleibt; er beträgt i bis 5o at oder mehr. Das Lösungsmittel wird vorteilhaft in 3- bis i 5facher Raummenge verwendet. Enthält das zu behandelnde Schmieröl wesentliche Menge von Harzen, Asphalten, Hart- oder Weichparaffin, so erfolgt vorteilhaft eine Vorbehandlung mit Benzin, oder es wird zweckmäßig die Behandlung mit verflüssigten Kohlenwasserstoffen in zwei Stufen zerlegt, wobei zunächst die genannten Stoffe, insbesondere Harze, entfernt werden. Man verwendet dann mit Vorteil zuerst verflüssigte Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Butan, Propan oder deren Gemische, miteinander oder mit geringen Mengen Äthan. Bei dieser Behandlung, besonders bei Mitverwendung von Äthan, werden auch Harze mit ausgefällt. Anschließend erfolgt dann zur Abtrennung des hochmolekularen Anteils die Behandlung des vorgereinigten Schmieröls, beispielsweise mit einem Gemisch von Propan mit größeren Mengen Äthan.
- Bei der Behandlung von Schmierölen mit Gemischen von Propan und Äthan verwendet man vorteilhaft Gemische mit einem Äthangehalt von etwa 15 bis 85%. Vermehrt man den Gehalt an Äthan, so wird eine größere Menge hochmolekularer Anteile ausgefällt. Es läßt sich also durch geeignete Wahl des Verhältnisses von Äthan zu Propan leicht erreichen, daß die gewünschte Menge hochmolekularer Anteile ausgeschieden wird. Wird z. B. ein Gemisch mit nur i 5 01o Äthan angewendet, so sind in der ungelösten Schicht nur geringe Mengen hochmolekularer und hochviscoser Öle enthalten; wird dagegen ein 85% Äthan enthaltendes Gemisch verwendet, so enthält die ungelöste Schicht größere Mengen öl, die eine niedrigere Viscosität haben. Bei gleichbleibender Zusammensetzung des Lösungsmittels kann man auch durch Änderung der Temperatur die Menge des auszufällenden hochmo'eku'.aren Anteils bestimmen. Die mit der Steigerung des Äthangehalts zu erzielende Wirkung läßt sich auch durch Temperatursteigerung erreichen.
- Nach Vermischen des Schmieröls mit dem Lösungsmittel werden die beiden Schichten voneinander abgetrennt, beispielsweise durch Dekantieren oder Filtrieren. Aus der Lösung werden dann die verflüssigten Kohlenwasserstoffe beispielsweise durch Verdampfen entfernt.
- Vor der Abtrennung des zugeführten Lösungsmittels kann die Lösung durch Usarbentien, wie Bleicherde oder aktive Kohle, filtriert werden. Dem nunmehr vom hochmolekularen Anteil befreiten Teil des Schmieröls werden dann in einer Menge von o, i bis 300/0 oder mehr die obenerwähnten hochmolekularen öllöslichen, wasserstoffreichen, synthe;isch hergestellten Produkte zugegeben. Als solche verwendet man z. B. Stoffe, wie sie nach den Patenten 556309, 594167, 635338 und 635671 erhalten werden.
- Die vorliegende Arbeitsweise ist besonders wertvoll zur Herstellung solcher Schmieröle, die einen hohen Lagerdruck auszuhalten haben. Es können auf diese Weise Schmieröle mit einem Viscositätsindex von 120 und darüber erzeugt werden.
- Es ist zwar bekannt, Schmieröle durch Behandlung mit verflüssigten, bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffen von Verunreinigungen zu befreien. Solche Verunreinigungen sind neben Paraffin insbesondere Asphalte und harzartige Bestandteile der Schmieröle, die bei dem bekannten Verfahren entfernt werden. Die im vorliegenden Falle zur Anwendung kommende Behandlung von Ölen mit verflüssigten Kohlenwasserstoffen geht wesentlich über eine solche Raffmation hinaus; denn hier werden nicht nur Paraffin, Asphalte und harzartige Stoffe, sondern auch hochmolekulare Schmierölanteile entfernt, weil diese, wie sich gezeigt hat, zwar einen großen Einfluß auf die Viscosität, aber nur einen verhältnismäßig geringen Einfluß auf den Viscositätsindex ausüben. Beispiel Behandelt man ein FFF Valve Öl mit einem Viscositätsindex von i io bei 7o bis 75° mit der achtfachen Raummenge verflüssigten Propans, so fällt hierbei der höher molekulare Anteil in einer Menge von etwa i o bis i 5 % aus, während der niedriger molekulare Anteil in Propan gelöst bleibt. Nach dem Ablassen des hochmolekularen Anteils hat das in Propan gelöste Öl nach Entfernung des Lösungsmittels eine Viscosität von 3, i 5°E/99'. Fügt man zu diesem Öl 25% eines durch Voltolisierung von Paraffin gewonnenen Produktes mit einer Viacosität von 47'E/99', so erhält man ein Getriebeöl mit einer Viscoshät von 7,17' E/99° und 78' E/38''. Dieses Öl besitzt somit einen Viscositätsindex von i25.
Claims (1)
- PATT,NTANSPRUCII: Verfahren zur Herstellung hochwertiger Schmieröle, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man aus hochviscosen Schmierölen, insbesondere solchen, die einen verhältnismäßig hohen Viscosi;ätsindex haben, durch Behandlung mit verflüssigten, bei gewöhnlicher Temperatur gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoffen in diesen unlösliche hochmolekulare Anteile einschließlich hochmolekularer Schmierölanteile abtrennt, den gelösten Anteil vom Lösungsmittel befreit und mit öllöslichen Kondensationsprodukten von hochmolekularen, ganz oder vorwiegend aus Hart- oder Weichparaffin bestehenden Kohlenwasserstoffen oder Polymerisationsprodukten von O:efinen und Diolefinen, wie Isobutylen, oder deren Hydrierungsprodukten, die einen höheren Wasserstoffgehalt als die entfernten hochmolekularen Anteile aufweisen, versetzt.
