Description
- Verfahren zur Darstellung von harzartigen Kondensationsprodukten aus Phenolalkyläthern und Formaldehyd. Die Herstellung harzartiger Kondensationsprodukte aus Phenolen und Form= aldehyd ist allgemein bekannt. Behandelt man dagegen an Stelle von Phenol dessen Alkyläther, z. B. An.isol mit Formatdehyd, so findet keine Kondensation zu harzartigen Produkten statt (vg1. hierzu Ber. 7 [i874] S. i2oo). Das :gleiche gilt für o- und p-Kresolalkyläther.
- Es wurde nun die überraschende Beobachtung gemacht, d'aß, solche Phenolalkyläther, die in m-Stellung zur Alkoxygruppe eine Alkyl- oder eine weitere Alkoxygruppe substituiert enthaltene, bei der Kondensation mit Formaldehyd in Gegenwaxt von Säuren zu harzartigen Kondensationsprodukten führen. Diese stellen helle, springharte Produkte dar, die unlöslich in Alkohol, aber löslich in Kohlenwasserstoffeen, Halogenkohlenwasserstoff en, ferner in Terpentinöl und Leinöl- sind und daher in hervorragender Weise zur Herstellung von Lackte oder Firnissen Verwendung finden können. Beispiel i: In eine Mischung von --44 Teilen m-Kresolmethylüther und 222 Teilen 3oprozentigen Formaldehyd leitet man schweflige Säure ein. Die Reaktion setzt ohne äußere Wärmezufuhr ein. und wird durch Erwärmen auf go bis ioo° zu; Ende geführt. Das abgeschiedene Harz wird von der Flüssigkeit getrennt und durch Erwärmen auf 13o bis 14o° vom Wasser befreit.
- Man erhält ein hellgelbes, springhartes Harz, das in. Benzol, Chlorbenzol, Terpentinöl, Leinöl löslich, in Alkohol unlöslich ist. Beispiel e: 166 Teile Resoreindiäthyläther, iro Teile 3oprozentigen Formaldehyd werden unter Rühren mit 3,7 Teilen Schwefelsäure von 66° B6 versetzt. Die Harzbildung setzt alsbald unter Temperaturerhöhung ein und wird durch kurzes Erwärmen auf etwa go° beendet. Das Kondensationsprodukt wird durch Waschen mit warmem Wasser von der anhaftenden Säure befreit und hierauf durch Erhitzen im Vakuum entwässert.
- Man erhält ein helles Harz von ganz ähnlichen Eigenschaften wie im; Beispiel i. Beispiel 3: 24q. Teile m-Kresolmethyläther wenden mit 6o Teilen Trioxymethylen, i4o Teilen Wasser und i i Teilen Schwefelsäure von 66° Be so lange erwärmt, bis die Masse die gewünschte Konsistenz angenommen hat. Nach Aufarbeitung erhält man ein helles Harz von ähnlichen Eigenschaften wie im Beispiel i.
Claims (1)
- PATENTANSPRUCH: Verfahren zur Darstellung von harzartigen Kondensationsprodukten, aus Phenolalkyläthern und Formaldehyd, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man, in m-Stellung zur Alkoxygruppe durch eine Alkyl-oder eine weitere Alkoxygruppe substituierte Phenolalkyläther mit Formaldehyd oder Formaldehyd abspaltenden Stoffen bei Gegenwart von Säuren behandelt.
