Claims (39)

1. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines a-Olefin-Polymers, umfassend das Zusammenbringen mindestens eines a-Olefins mit einem Katalysatorsystem, das ein tertiäres Organohalogenid und einen Lewis-Säure-Katalysator umfaßt, unter Polymerisationsbedingungen, um so das a-Olefin-Polymer zu erhalten.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin 4 bis etwa 30 Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das tertiäre Organohalogenid ein tertiäres Alkylhalogenid ist.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Lewis-Säure-Katalysator ein Aluminiumhalogenid ist.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, welches bei etwa -20 bis etwa 400C durchgeführt wird.
6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin—Polymer ein Copolymer ist.
7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, wobei das tertiäre Alkylhalogenid 4 bis etwa 12 Kohlenstoffatome im Alkylrest enthält.
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, wobei der Lewis-Säure-Katalysator Aluminiumchlorid ist.
9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin-Polymer eine Flüssigkeit ist.
10. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin-Polymer ein Homopolymer ist.
11. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, wobei das a-Olefin etwa C6 bis etwa C16 ist.
12. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, wobei das tertiäre Alkylhalogenid aus der Gruppe ausgewählt ist, die aus tertiären Amyl- und tertiären Butylhalogeniden und Gemischen davon besteht.
13. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10, wobei das a-Olefin C12 ist.
14. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5, wobei die Temperatur etwa -5 bis etwa 3O0C beträgt.
15. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein C8- und C12-Olefingemisch ist.
16. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, durchgeführt in Gegenwart einer aktivierenden Menge einer protischen Verbindung.
17. Produkt nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein Gemisch von Cy- und Cg-Olefinen ist.
18. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin ein normales Olefin ist.
19. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein Cg-, C12" und C16-Olefingemisch ist.
20. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei ein aprotisches Lösungsmittel verwendet wird.
21. Verfahren nach Anspruch 20, wobei das aprotische Lösungsmittel ein halogeniertes Lösungsmittel ist.
22. Verfahren nach Anspruch 20, wobei das aprotische Lösungsmittel ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe, die aus Ethylendichlorid, Methylenchlorid und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff und Gemischen davon besteht.
23. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein C6- und C10-Gemisch ist.
24. Verfahren nach Anspruch 20, wobei das Lösungsmittel eine doppelte Dichlorverbindung ist.
25. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein Cg- und C·^-Gemisch ist.
26. Verfahren nach Anspruch 22, wobei das aprotische Lösungsmittel Methylenchlorid ist.
27. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, wobei das tertiäre Alkylhalogenid das Chlorid ist.
28. Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, wobei das a-Olefin ein Co-,
C10- und C1 ,.-Gemisch ist.
29. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei das a-Olefin-Polymer im wesentlichen frei von aromatischem Gehalt ist.
30. Das Produkt des Verfahrens von Anspruch 1.
31. Das Produkt von Beispiel 30 mit einem Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichts von 2000 bis etwa 100 000.
32. a-Olefin-Polymer-Zusammensetzung mit einer polymodalen Verteilung mit Molekulargewichts-Maxima bei 2000 bis 5000 und bei 50 000 bis 75 000.

33. &agr;-Olefin-Polymer nach Anspruch 32, erhalten aus einem a-Olefin mit 4 bis etwa 30 Kohlenstoffatomen und Gemischen davon.
34. &agr;-Olefin-Polymer nach Anspruch 32, wobei die polymodale Verteilung bimodal ist.
35. &agr;-Olefin-Polymer nach Anspruch 32, erhalten aus einem a-Olefin mit 6 bis etwa 16 Kohlenstoffatomen.
36. &agr;-Olefin-Polymer nach Anspruch 32, wobei die Molekulargewichts-Maxima 3500 bis 4500 und 55 000 bis 65 000 sind.
37. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Propylen-Polymers, umfassend das Zusammenbringen von Propylen mit einem Katalysatorsystem, das Aluminiumchlorid und mindestens ein tertiäres Niederalkylchlorid umfaßt, unter Polymerisationsbedingungen in Gegenwart einer aktivierenden Menge Wasser, und unter Verwendung eines halogenierten Lösungsmittels, um so das Propylenpolymer zu erhalten.
38. Schmieröl, funktioneile Flüssigkeit oder Fett, enthaltend das &agr;-Olefin-Polymer von Anspruch 30.
39. Schmieröl, funktioneile Flüssigkeit oder Fett, enthaltend das &agr;-Olefin-Polymer von Anspruch 32.
