Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von phospharhaltigen Olefinpolymeren.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf die Herstellung von phosphorhaltigen
Olefinpolymeren, die sich als Zusatzstoffe zur Verbesserung
des Viskositätsindexes und der Detergens- und Dispergiereiagenschaften von Schmierölen "eignen (Schlamminhibitoren
und Antiausflockungsmittel), und Schmierstoffe, die diese Polymeren enthalten. Die Erfindung stellt eine
Verbesserung bzw. Modifikation .des Gegenstandes der deutschen
Patentanmeldung B 76 118 IVd/39c dar.
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von flüssigen, phosphorhaltigen Olefinpolymeren durch Umsetzung
von Olefinen, vorzugsweise von o6-01efinen mit bis zu
20 C-Atomen,, mit einem Phosphorhalogenid, vorzugsweise einem Chlorid oder Bromid, wobei das Molverhältnis des Olefins
zum Phosphorhalogenid 100 : 0,1-25, vorzugsweise 100 : 2-10, beträgt, in Gegenwart von wenigstens 1,5 Mol eines Friedel-Crafts-Katalysators
pro Mol Phosphorhalogenid unter Bildung eines phosphorhalogenierten Polymeren und Hydrolyse des
letzteren unter Umwandlung der im Polymeren vorhandenen Halogen· gruppen in Sauerstoff- oder Hydroxylgruppen. Das Verfahren iB.t
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daes die Reaktion bei einer Temperatur

unter 60° C durchgeführt wird, und dass der Iriedel-Orafta-Katalysator aus einem Gemieeh. von Alüminiumhalogenid mit einem oder mehreren schwächeren Iriedel- ';
Orafts-Olef^polymerisationskatalysatoren, wie ZnOl^, S)]OIo ,
TtOl^, SnOl. und TiCl,, besteht· Besonders bevorzugt als
Katalysator wird ein Gemlsoh τοη AlCl^ und TiOl^. Das
Molverhältnis des Aluminiumhalogenide zum anderen Friedel-Orafts-Katalysator bzw. zu den anderen 7riedel«0rafts-Katalysatoren beträgt 99t1 bis 1:99, vorzugsweise 75:25 bis
25»75. Das Molverhältnis des Friedel-Crafts-Katalysator*
insgesamt zum Phosphorhalogenid beträgt 1,5 bis 2,5:1·
Zur Herstellung von Produkten, die bei normalen Umgebungstemperaturen flüssig sind, muß die Phosphorylierungs- und
Polymerisationsreaktion in den meisten Fällen bei einer Temperatur oberhalb von -600O durchgeführt werden.
Als α-Olefine eignen sioh die methylsubstituierten Butene,
Pentene und Hexene. Besonders bevorzugt wird 4-Methylpenten-1·
Die Hydrolypenreaktion wird zwedkmäßig durchgeführt, indem
man Wasser zum phosphorhalogenierten Polymeren gibt und am Rüokflußkühler erhitzt. Die Hydrolyse ist vollständig, wenn
die Acidität des Reaktionsgemischeβ nioht mehr steigt.
Die Reaktion wird vorzugsweise in einem inerten Lösungsmittel, z.B. einem ohlorierten Kohlenwasserstoff, wie Methylenchlorid,
ithylehlorid, Xthylbromid oder Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, durchgeführt.
Im Vergleich zu der Phosphorylierungs-/Polymerisationsreak~
tion, die Gegenstand der genannten Vöeutsohen Patentanmeldung* ist, hat die Reaktion gemäß der Erfindung folgende
Vorteile!
a) Erhöhte Ausnutzung des Phosphors. Bis zu 95$ sind erreiohbar im Vergleioh zu 20-7596 bei einer Reaktion, die mit
allein katalysiert wird.

b) Produkte mit besserem Dispergierungsvermögen werden
erhalten· Die Dauer des Absitzen· von Kohlenstoff kann
zwei- "bis dreimal länger sein al« bei Produkten, die
mit AlOl1 als Katalysatoren hergestellt wurden·
Haoh einem weiteren Kennzeichen der Erfindung kann das in
der beschriebenen Weise hergestellte hydrolysierte, phoephorhaltige
Polymere mit einer basischen Verbindung, z.B. einem Hydroxyd, Oxyd oder alkalisch reagierenden Salz eines
Erdalkalimetalls, Alkalimetalls oder des Aluminiums umgesetzt werden, wobei ein neutrales Produkt gebildet wird,
das eich als Sohmierölzueatz besser eignet. Während im
Falle der genannten '.jdäiiteohen Patentanmeldung B '
die Neutralieation des phosphorhaltigen 9c
Polymeren in einem Kohlenwasserstoff oder chlorierten Kohlenwasserstoff als Lösungsmittel durchgeführt werden kann,
wird im Falle der Erfindung ..infolge des erhöhten Phosphorgehalte
des Polymeren eine höhere Menge der basisohen Verbindung
bei der Neutralieation verbraucht, und als folge des höheren Metallgehalts sind die metallhaltigen Polymeren
im allgemeinen in diesen Lösungsmitteln unlöslich. Es ist daher zweckmäßig, die Neutralisation in einem Schmieröl
als Lösungsmittel mit einem Alkanol als Lösungsvermittler durchzuführen. Nach einer bevorzugten Aueführungsform löst
man das phosphorhaltige Polymere in einem Mineralöl oder
synthetischen Sohmieröl, z.B. in einem mineralischen Schmieröl SAE 10, wobei eine dünnflüssige Lösung gebildet wird,
und neutralisiert mit 2-4 Äquivalenten (bezogen auf die
Neutralisationszahl des Polymeren) der basischen Verbindung
in Gegenwart von'überschüssigem Alkanol (z.B. 10 Mol pro Mol Base) und Wasser (z.B. 1 Mol pro Mol Base). Bevorzugt werden
Alkanole mit 1-5 C-Atomen, insbesondere Isopropanol· Geeignete
basische Verbindungen sind die Hydroxyde und Oxyde der Erdalkalimetalle, z.B. Ba(OH)2·8 H2O oder BaO. Bei dieser
bevorzugten Arbeitsweise erhitzt man die Lösung des Polymeren im öl t-2 Stunden mit dem Alkanol und Wasser am Hüokfluß-

Die Erfindung umfaßt ferner auf die beschriebene Wei·· \
hergeetellt« phoapherhaltig· Olefinpolymer· oder deren
Salse«
In den Rahmen der Erfindung fallen ferner Schmiermittel, die im wesentlichen aus einen größeren Anteil eines Sehmier-Öl-Gruntöl· (mineralisch oder synthetisch) und einen geringeren Anteil) s«B. O»1-25ji, insbesondere 1«10 Q#w«-# des
Schmiermittels, eine· der roretehend beschriebenen phosphorhaltigen Olefinpoiyaertn oder dessen Salsee bestehen.
Al· Belipiel wird naohetehtnd di· Herstellung eines phosphorhaltigen Polymeren gemäB der Erfindung beaehrieben.

Polymerisation fand etatt, naehden etwa 25Jl de· Olefine
augesetct waren· Das Reaktionsgemisoh wurde dureh Kühlen
bei O0O gehalten« Die Polymerisation war nur leicht exdfeherm.
Aus der Lösung wurde kein Polymeres ausgefällt« laehdem
das gesamt« Olefin sugea«tet und die Reaktion beendet war,
wurden 150 «or Heptan und dann 100 em Wasser zugesetzt·
Das Xthyibromid wurd· abdestilliert und durch das gleiche Tolumen Heptan ersetzt« Das Reaktionsgemisoh wurde am 1RuOkfluflkünlsr erhitzt, bis die Hydrolyse rollendet war« Die
Heptanlösung wurde mit Wasser gewasohen, bis die Waschflüssigkeit nieht mehr sauer war, worauf Sohiohtentrennung durch

Heptane wurden 43 g eines hellgerben Polymeren erhalten»
das einen Phosphorgehalt von 1,4 Gew.-Ji hatte«
Die Wirksamkeit des Polymeren A als Sohlamminhibitor bzw· ι
Antiausflookungsmittel (Diepergiermittel-Detergens-Bigenschäften) ee ee wurde durch einen Kohlenstoffablagerung»teet ermittelt, bei dem die Zähigkeit der geprüften Verbindung genesen wird, das Absitzen einer Suspension Ton BuS in n-Heptan zu verzögern· Bei diesem Versuch werden 0,05 g des zu prüfenden Materials in ein Reagenz-
glas von 150 ζ 13 mm gewogen, worauf 10 oar n-Heptan züge·» ;
setzt werden· Das Material wird, falls erforderlieh, duroh
Erhitzen aufgelöst* Nach Zusatz Ton 0,1 g des amerikanisehen
Busses "Kosmos SB" zur Lösung wird diese kräftig geschüttelt
und über Naoht stehen gelassen. IfAm näehsten Tag wird das
Reagenzglas zehnmal umgekehrt. An Hand der Geschwindigkeit, mit der der BuB auf den Boden des Reagenzglases fallt, werden
die ligensohaften des Materials als Dispergiermittel ermittelt« Yerglelohsversuohe werden durchgeführt, indem die
Zeit gemessen wird, die die RuJJsohioht brauoht, um unter
eine Höhe von 1,2 «m zu fallen· Die HHÖhe der lösung zu
Beginn beträgt 7,5 em.
Die Ergebnisse von VergleiohsbeStimmungen sind nachstehend
in Tabelle 1 für das Polymere A, ein reines 4«Methylpenten-1-polymeres und die Polymeren M97(a) und MW7(b) genannt. Die
beiden letztgenannten Polymeren sind in den rätottsohen Patentanmeldung«* Τ#51Φ^Ι7φίϋο t*54#7<6£ beaohrieben und werden,
in der gleiohen Weise wie das Polymere A, jedoch nur unter Verwendung von AlOIi als Katalysator hergestellt·

(Patentanmeldung B 76 118 IVd/ 39<O*-W0bei ein Olefin, vorzugsweise ein 06-01*ef in. mit bis zu 20 Kohlenstoffatomen, mit einem Phosphorhalogenid, vorzugsweise Phosphortrichlorid, bei einem molaren Verhältnis von Olefin iu Phorphorhalogenid von 10010,1^-25, vorzugsweise 100:2-10, in Gegenwart von mindestens 1,5 Mol eines Priedel-Crafts-Katalyeators pro Mol Phosphorhalogenid umgesetzt wird, um ein phosphorhälogeniertes Polymer zu erzeugen, die letztere Verbindung hydrolysiert wird, um die in dem Polymer vorhandenen Halogengruppen in Oxyd- oder Hydroxylgruppen umzuwandeln, und vorzugsweise das hydrolysierte phosphorhältige Polymer mit einer basischen Verbindung, vorzugsweise einem Oxyd oder Hydroxyd eines Erdalkalimetalls umgesetzt wird, um ein neutrales Produkt zu erzeugen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Reaktion des Olefins mit dem Phosphorhalogenid bei einer Tempe-. ratur unter 600C, aber vorzugsweise oberhalb -600O unter Verwendung eines Friedel-Orafts-Katalysators ausgeführt wird, der auB einem Gemisch von Aluminiumhalogenid, vorzugsweise .Aluminiumchlorid, und einem schwächeren Friedel-Crafts-Olefinpolymerisationskatalysator oder mehreren, z.B. Titantetrachlorid, besteht. ·
- 2) Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das OO-Olefin 4—Methylpenten-1 ist.
- 3) Schmiermischung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie im wesentlichen aus einem mineralischen oder synthetischen Schmiergrundöl besteht, in das ein flüssiges phosphorhaltiges Olefinpolymer, das nach dem Verfahren gemäss Anspruch 1 hergestellt ist, in einer Menge von 0,1 bis 25 Grew.-# der Mischung eingebracht ist.909822/1203
