Description
Es wurde gefunden, daß sich die Verbindungen der Formeln I bis IV
ausgezeichnet als Antioxidantien für polymere organische Materialien
eignen.
Für diese Verwendung werden die Verbindungen in gegen Oxidation empfindliche
Substanzen vorzugsweise eingearbeitet. Durch ihre stabilisierende
Wirkung bewahren die so eingesetzten neuen Verbindungen diese Substanzen
vor oxidativer Zerstörung. Sie wirken vor allem als sogenannte Verarbeitungsstabilisatoren.
Besonders zahlreich sind die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten
im Kunststoffsektor. Die Verwendung kommt beispielsweise für Polyolefine,
insbesondere Polyäthylen und Polypropylen sowie Polystyrol, Polyester,
Polymethylmethacrylate, Polyphenylenoxide, Polyurethane, Polyamide wie
Nylon, Polypyrrolidone, Polypropylenoxid, Polyacrylnitril und entsprechende
Copolymerisate in Frage.
Vorzugsweise verwendet man die Verbindungen zum Stabilisieren von Polypropylen,
Polyäthylen, Polyester, Polyurethanen, Polyamid, Polyacrylnitril,
ABS-Terpolymeren, Terpolymeren von Acrylester, Styrol und Acrylnitril,
Copolymere von Styrol und Acrylnitril oder Styrol und Butadien, vorzugsweise
für Polypropylen, Polyäthylen oder ABS, vorzugsweise Polypropylen
oder Polyäthylen. Es können auch Naturstoffe stabilisiert werden, wie
beispielsweise Kautschuk. Die Einverleibung in die zu schützenden Materialien
erfolgt nach an sich bekannten Methoden. Ein besonders wichtiges
Anwendungsverfahren besteht in der innigen Vermischung des Substrates,
beispielsweise von Polypropylen in Granulatform, mit den Verbindungen,
z. B. in einem Kneter, und im sich anschließenden Verformen z. B. durch Extrudieren.
Beim Extrudieren erhält man beispielsweise Folien, Schläuche oder Fäden.
Kunststoffe müssen nicht unbedingt polymerisiert bzw. kondensiert sein,
bevor die Vermischung mit den neuen Verbindungen der Formeln I bis IV
erfolgt. Man kann auch Monomere oder Vorpolymerisate bzw. Vorkondensate
mit den Stabilisatoren vermischen und erst nachher den Kunststoff in die
endgültige Form durch Kondensieren oder Polymerisieren überführen.
Die Menge der einzubringenden Schutzmittel kann in weiten Grenzen
schwanken, z. B. zwischen 0,01 bis 1%, vorzugsweise 0,1-0,4% bezogen
auf die zu schützenden Materialien. Die stabilisierten organischen Materialien
können nur Verbindungen der Formeln I bis IV enthalten, oder noch
zusätzlich andere Hilfsmittel zur Verbesserung der Eigenschaften. Solche
Hilfsmittel sind beispielsweise weitere Stabilisatoren oder Costabilisatoren
gegen die Zerstörung durch Hitze und Sauerstoff oder UV-Licht.
Beispiele solcher Costabilisatoren sind Distearylthiodipropionat, Tetrakis-(methylen-3-dodecylthio-propionat)-methan,
oder sterisch gehindertes
4-Methyl- oder Äthyl-6-tert.-butylphenol oder 4,4′-Methylen-bis-(2,6-di-
tert.-butylphenol).
Das Gewichtsverhältnis der Verbindung der Formeln I bis IV zu den Costabilisatoren
ist beispielsweise 1 : 5 bis 5 : 1 vorzugsweise 1 : 3 bis 4 : 1
vorzugsweise ca. 3 : 1.
In den folgenden Beispielen bedeuten die Teile Gewichtsteile und die
Prozente Gewichtsprozente. Die Temperaturen sind in Celsiusgraden angegeben.
Man erhitzt ein Gemisch, bestehend aus 26 Teilen N,N-Dimethylanilin und
13,7 Teilen Phosphortrichlorid während 8 Stunden zum Rückfluß. Danach
gibt man 15,8 Teile Pyridin und 130 Teile Toluol zu, kühlt auf 40° ab und
fügt dazu in Portionen 41,2 Teile 2,4-Di-tert.-butylphenol. Man rührt bei
40° noch während 5 Stunden weiter, kühlt auf 0°, filtriert das ausgefallene
Pyridin-Hydrochlorid ab und dampft das Toluol-Filtrat im Vakuum
ein. Das verbleibende Öl nimmt man in Äther auf, wäscht die organische
Phase mit Wasser, trocknet über Glaubersalz und dampft die Lösung im
Vakuum ein. Das verbleibende gelbe Öl wird aus Methanol kristallisiert.
Man erhält weiße Kristalle vom Smp. 150-152° der Formel

Man verfährt wie im Beispiel 1 beschrieben, verwendet aber anstelle von
2,4-Di-tert.-butylphenol 32,8 Teile 2-tert.-Butyl-4-methylphenol. Man
erhält weiße Kristalle vom Smp. 116-120° der Formel

In analoger Weise wurden die folgenden Verbindungen hergestellt:
In grundstabilisiertes (0,1% Tetrakis-[β-(3.5-di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionsäure]-pentaerythritest-er
und 0,1% Calciumstearat)-Polypropylen
werden auf einem Laborwalzwerk bei 170° während 5
Min. die in der Tabelle, unter Nr. 3 und Nr. 4 aufgeführten Verbindungen
eingearbeitet. Bei den erhaltenen Produkten wird gemäß ASTM-D-1238-70
der Schmelzindex bei 2,16 Kp/230°C gemessen.
