Description
Azaadamantanverbindungen als Stabilisatoren für organische Polymerisatzusammensetzungen
Es ist bekannt, daß Ultraviolettstrahlung, insbesondere im Bereich des nahen Ultraviolett, eine schädigende ¥irkung
auf Aussehen und physikalische Eigenschaften von organischen Polymerisaten ausübt. So neigen beispielsweise Polyolefine
und Polyurethanelastomere häufig zu einem ernsthaften Abbau, wenn sie Licht, wie Sonnenlicht oder Ultraviolettstrahlung,
ausgesetzt werden. Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid verfärben sich unter den genannten
Bedingungen und weisen abgebaut« Ebenfalls sind Polyamide
häuifrtg einem Photoabbau unterworfen.
Zur Stabilisierung von synthetischen Polymeren gegen Photoabbau sind bisher zahlreiche Stabilisierungsmittel vorgeschlagen
worden, z.B. für Polyolefine, Benzophenonverbindtmgen
und Benzotriazolvei-bindungen, für Polyurethane,
Phenolverbindungen und Benzophenonverbindungen und für Polyvinylchlorid und Polyvinylidenchlorid, Salze des Bariums
und Cadmiums sowie organische Zinnverbindungen. In jüngster Zeit sind 2,2,6,6-Tetraalkylpiperidinderivate als
Stabilisatoren vorgeschlagen worden, deren Stäube jedoch,
bedingt durch die starke Basizität der Verbindungen, bei der Einax'bei.tung in das Polymere eine physiologische Reizwirkung
auf die Schleimhäute ausüben können.

Die Menge der den synthetischen Polymeren zuzusetzenden Az a adamantane η kann in Abhängigkeit von der Art, den Eigenschaften
und den speziellen Anwendungen des zu stabilisierenden Polymeren erheblich schwanken. Im allgemeinen werden
0,01-5 Gew.-^, vorzugsweise 0,1-3 und insbesondere 0,5-3
Gew. -fo, bezogen auf die Menge des synthetischen Polymeren
eingesetzt. Es kann eine einzige Verbindung oder eine Mischung aus mehreren verwendet werden.
Die Einarbeitung der Azaadamantanverbindungen in die synthetischen
Polymeren erfolgt nach üblichen Methoden. So kann man den Stabilisator z„B. in Form eines trockenen
Pulvers mit dem synthetischen Polymeren vermischen, oder man kann auch eine Lösung, Suspension oder Emulsion des
Stabilisators in eine Lösung, Suspension oder Emulsion des synthetischen Polymeren einarbeiten.
Die Stabilisatoren vom Typ der Azaadamantane siad sowohl
für sich allein als auch im Gemisch mit üblichen Licht- und Wärmestabilisatoren auf der Basis von phenolischen, sulfidischen
und phophorhaltigen Antioxidantien wirksam.
Unter üblichen Stabilisatoren sind im einzelnen zu verstehen: z.B. 2,6-Di-tert.-butyl-p-kresol, 3,5-Di-tert.-butyl-4~hydroxyphenylpropionsäureester,
Alkyliden-bis-alkylphenole, Thiodipropionsäureester
von Fettalkoholen sowie Dioctadecylsulfid und -disulfid. Als phosphorhaltige Verbindungen sind beispielsweise
Tris-nonylph.enylphosph.it, Distearylpentaerythrityldiphosphit,
Ester des Pentaerythritphosphits u.a, mehr zu nennen. Beispiele für UV-Absorber sind die Benzotriazo!verbindungen,

wie 2-(2 ' -Hydroxy-5 '-meth.ylph.enyl)-benzotriazol, für Quencher
die neuen Piperidinstabilisatoren und Metallchelate.
Eine v/irksame Stabilisatorkorabination Tür die Stabilisierung halogenfreier Poly-&i-01efine wie z.B. Hoch-, Mittel- und
Niederdruckpolymerisaten von C„- bis (V-oG-Olefinen, insbesondere
Polyäthylen und Polypropylen oder von Copolymerisaten derartiger c6-Olefine besteht, bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile
Polymer, beispielsweise aus 0,01 bis 3 Gew.-Teilen eines erfindungsgemäß zu verwendenden Azaadamantans, 0,05
bis 3 Gew.-Teilen eines phenolischen Stabilisators, 0,1 bis 3 Gew.-Teilen eines sulfidischen Stabilisators sowie
gegebenenfalls 0,1 bis 3 Gew.-Teilen eines Phosphits und/ oder 0,01 bis 3 Gew.-Teilen eines UV-Stabilisators aus
der Gruppe der Alkoxyhydroxybenzophenone, Hydroxyphenylbenztriazole,
Salizylsäurephenolester, Benzoesäurehydroxyphenolester, Benzylidenmalonsäuremononitrilester, der sog.
"Quencher" wie Nickelchelate, Hexainethylenphosphorsäuretriamid
oder auch Vertreter der neuerdings bekannt gewordenen Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers,,
Bei der Stabilisierung von chlorhaltigen Vinyl-Homo- und
-Copolymerisaten, beispielsweise Polyvinylchlorid, Polyvinylidenchlorid,
Polyvinylchloracetat, Vinylchlorid-a-Olefin-Copolymerisaten
und chlorierten Polyolefinen, wie z.B. chloriertem Polyäthylen und Polypropylen, bringt ein Zusatz
der Azaadamantane in Gegenwart von als Stabilisatoren bekannten
Metallverbindungen, Epoxystabilisatoren, Ph.osph.iten
und gegebenenfalls mehrwertigen Alkoholen ebenfalls eine Verbesserung der Wärme- und Lichtstabilität.
Unter als Stabilisatoren bekannten Metallverbindungen werden

aliphatischer Carbonsäuren oder - Oxycarbonsäuren mit etwa 12 bis 32 C-Atomen, Salze der genannten Metalle
mit aromatischen Carbonsäuren wie Benzoatc oder Salizylate sowie (Alkyl-) Phono la te dieser Metalle, ferner Organozinnverbindungen
wie z.B. Dialkylzinnthioglykolate und - Carboxylate .
Bekannte Epoxystabilisatoren sind z.B. epoxidierte höhere
Fettsäuren wie epoxidiertes Sojabohnenöl, - Tallöl, - Leinöl
oder epoxidiertes Butyloleat sowie Epoxide langkettiger ti6-Olefine.
Als Phosphite sind Trisnonylpb.enylphosph.it, Trislaury!phosphat
oder auch die Ester des Pentaerythritphosphits zu nennen.
Mehrwertige Alkohole können beispielsweise Pentaerythrit, Trimethylolpropan, Sorbit oder Mannit sein, d.h. bevorzugt
Alkohole mit 5 bis 6 C-Atomen und 3 bis 6 OH-Gruppen.
Eine Stabilisatorkombination für die Stabilisierung halogenhaltiger
plastischer Massen besteht, bezogen auf 100 Gew.-Teile Polymer, beispielsweise aus 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-Teilen
von als Stabilisator bekannten Metallverbindungen, 0,1 bis Gew.-Teilen eines bekannten Epoxistabilisators, 0,05 bis 5
Gew.-Teilen eines Phosphats, 0,1 bis 1 Gew.-Teile eines mehrwertigen
Alkohols und 0,01 bis 5 Gew.-Teilen einer der erfindungsgemäß zu verwendenden Azaadamantan^.

Beispiele 1 bis 8
Diese Beispiele zeigen die lichtstabilisierende ¥irkung
von Azaadamantanen beim Einsatz in einem Poly-56-Olefin.
100 Gew.-Teile Polypropylen mit einem Schmelzindex i- von
ca. 6 g/10 min (bestimmt in Anlehnung an ASTM D 1238-62 T) und einer Dichte von O.96 wurden mit
0,10 Gew.-Teilen eines Bis-(4·-hydroxy-3f-tert.-butyl-
phenyl)-butansäurees ters
0,15 Gew.-Teilen Laurinthiodipropionsäureester 0,20 Gew.-Teilen Calciumstearat und
0,30 Gew.-Teilen verschiedener Azaadamantane
vermischt und auf der Zvreiwalze bei 200 °C 5 min. lang
homogenisiert. Die Kunststoffschmelze wurde sodann bei
200 °C zu einer Platte von 1 mm Dicke gepreßt. Aus der erkalteten Platte wurden Prüfkörper in Anlehnung an DIN 53 455
aus ge s tanz t.
Zur Bestimmung der Lichstabilität wurden die Proben in einer
Xenotest-150-Apparatur der Firma Original Hanau Quarzlampen
GmbH der Bestrahlung mit Wechsellicht unterworfen. Die Strahlungsintensität wurde durch 6 IR-Fenster und 1 UV-Fenster

Die Ergebnisse sind in nachstehender Tabelle zusammengestellt, -Beispiel 1 zeigt zum Vergleich die erreichte Standzeit einer
