Verfahren zur Herstellung hochbasischer Dispersionen anorganischer
Kaliumverbindungen in Schmiermitteln,
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind hochbasische, kalziumhaltige
Zusatzstoffe für Schmieröle. Insbesondere handelt es sich um ein Verfahren zum Dispergieren von Kalziumhydroxyd, Kaliumcarbonat
oder deren Gemischen in nichtflüchtigen Trägern. Weiterhin hat die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Kalzium-alkoxydcarbonat-Komplexverbindungen zum Gegenstand, welche zur Gewinnung der genannten Dispersion verwendet werden.
Die vorliegende Anmeldung ist eine Zusatzanmeldung zur Patentanmeldung C 21 417 IVc/23c, hinterlegt am 11. 5. I960.
In HD-Schmierölzusammensetzungen für Dieselmotoren und ähnliche Verbrennungsmaschinen müssen (außer Schmierfähigkeit, Beständigkeit und dergleichen) mindestens zwei Voraussetzungen gegeben sein, wenn ein hoher Reinheitsgrad des Motors aufrechterhalten
werden soll: erstens muß das Öl die durch Kraftstoffverbrennung
oder Oloxydation oder beide Vorgänge entstandenen unlöslichen Stoffe zu dispergieren vermögen, zweitens muss es die sauren Verbrennungsprodukte und Harzbildner neutralisieren können.
Ein hoher Basizitätsgrad ist besonders bei Schmierölzusammensetzungen für Schiffsdieselmotoren erwünscht. Diese Forderung
ergibt sich aus der Verwendung von Treibstoffen mit hohem Schwefe!gehalt, was gleichbedeutend mit einer größeren Menge saurer
Verbrennungsprodukte ist. Natürlich lässt sich dieses Problem
durch die Verbrennung von Treibstoffen mit niedrigem Schwefelgehalt umgehen. Vom Standpunkt der Virtschaftlichkeit ist es jedoch
zweckmäßig, Treibstoffe mit höherem Schwefelgehalt in Verbindung mit einer Schmierölzusammensetzung zu verwenden, welche zur Neutralisation der sauren Verbrennungsprodukte befähigt ist.

Die erfindungsgemässen Produkte eignen sich allgemein zur Verwendung in Schmierölzusammensetzungen für Verbrennungsmotoren. Weiter
lassen sich Korrosionsinhibitor-rZusammensetzungen verwenden. Da
die Zusammensetzungen einen großen Basenüberschuss aufnehmen können,
eignen sie sich besonders für Schiffsschmiermittel. -
In der Vergangenheit wurden viele Versuche unternommen, Stoffe mit
einer Basizitätsreserve herzustellen, um die während des Betriebes
in Schmierölen gebildeten sauren Stoffe zu neutralisieren. In dem
mit dieser Anmeldung in Zusammenhang stehendem Patent (Anmeldung C 21 4l7 IVc/23^) wird vorgeschlagen, eine stabile Dispersion
einer anorganischen Kalziumverbindung -in einem nichtflüchtigen
Träger herzustellen und zwar durch Hydrolyse eines Kalzium-alkoxydcarbonat-Komplexes.

Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist eine verbesserte
Ausführungsform dieses Verfahrens zur Herstellung hochbasischer Dispersionen in einem Schmiermittel, wobei der Durchmesser der
disperginrten Teilchen 0,25 Mikron nicht übersteigt, in der Weise,
daß
a) die alkoholische Lösung eines Kalzium—alkoxyd-carbonat-Komplexes,
ein öllösliches Dispergiermittel, ein nichtflüchtiger Träger und
Wasser im Überschuss zur Menge, welche zur Hydrolyse des genannten
Komplexes notwendig ist, miteinander gemischt werden,
b) die erhaltene Mischung hydroly_ .ort wird,
c) die flüchtigen Bestandteile des Gemisches entfernt werden, wobei
d) der genannte Komplex so «hergestellt wi'rd, dass eine beim Umsatz
mit Alkohol ein Gas entwickelnde Kalziumverbindung, vorzugsweise
Kalziumcarbid, mit einem Alkohol mit nicht mehr als 8 C-Atomen in Molekül aus der Gruppe der verzweigten primären oder ein Halogen
enthaltenden Alkohole oder Monoätheralkohole des' Athylenglykols oder Diäthylenglykols zur Reaktion gebracht und danach das Reak-
tionsgemisch mit CO durchblasen wird.· *
Dabei wird für die Hydrolyse des Komplexes das Wasser vorzugsweise
in einem molaren Verhältnis zum Kalzium—alkoxyd-carbonat-Komplex
von 1,1 bis 7,0 mol verwendet.

Zur Herstellung der Dispersion anorganischer Kalziumverbindungen
in einem nichtflUchtigen Träger wird so vorgegangen, daß man zu dea nicht
flüchtigen Träger oder der KW-Lösung des nichtflüchtigen Trägers «it
einem darin gelösten Dispergiermittel soviel Wasser gibt, als zur vollständigen
ersetzung des Kalzium-alkoxyd-carbonat-Komplexes berechnet
wurde. Am Beispiel des Komplexes, weicher aus Methoxyäthanol erhalten wurde, sei dies erläutert. Der Komplex wird durch folgende Formel
wiedergegeben:

und 1,15 ist«
Die Stöchiometrie der Hydrolysenreaktion ist abhängig vom Grad der
Carbonisierung des Komplexes, mit anderen Worten von der Größe von x» Liegt χ im Bereich von 0,5 bis 1,0 kann die Hydrolyse so formuliert

Ea wurde nun gefunden, daß jederzeit ein stöchiometrischer Überschuss
an Wasser vorliegen muß, um die Bildung nichtdespergierter J? fester Teilchen zu verhindern. Weiterhin stellt das Vorliegen eines
<° Wasserüberschusses sicher, daß der Alkohol vollständig zurückge-
(χ> wonnen wird. Auf molarer Basis berechnet sich die zu verwendende
,^ Wassermenge wie folgt: Als geeigneter Bereich für die Wassermenge
"~* gibt sich ein Wert von 1,1 bis zu 7iO Mol pro Mol Komplex, um sicher-
O> zustellen, daß die zusätzliche Forderung nach einem stöchioraetrischen

Wasserüberschuss erfüllt ist. Geeigneter ist ein Bereich von 1,55 bis
zu 4 Mol Wasser pro Mol Komplexverbindung. Bevorzugt wird ein Bereich
von 1,6 bis 2,4 Mol Wasser pro Mol Komplex.

Die.Notwendigkeit des ständigen Wasserüberschusses besteht sowohl bei
der Ausführung des Verfahrens im Chargen als im kontinuierlichen Verfahren.
Die Zugabe der gesamten Wassermenge ist vor der Zugabe des Kaizium-alkoxyd-carbonat-Komplexes
nicht erforderlich, doch muss ständig ein stöchiometrischer Überschuss an Wasser im Reaktionsgefäss vorhanden sein.
Im anderen Fall treten nichtdispergierte Feststoffe auf. Vorzugsweise wird vor der Zugabe von Komplex und restlicher Wassermenge zur gleichen
Zeit, eine kleinere Menge Wasser, etwa 10 bis 25 % der Gesamtmenge in
das Reaktionsgefäss gegeben.
Bei kommerzieller Ausführung des Verfahrens erweist es sich als vortelhaft,
das Wasser in Form eines Monoätheralkohol-Wasser-Aze<tropen zu
verwenden, weil die Monoätheralkohole, wenn sie verwendet werden, mit
Wasser azeotrope Gemische bilden, aus Welchen sie schwer isolierbar sind.
In den nächfolgenden Beispielen bedeuten Teile Gewichtsteile.
Es wurden in verschiedenen Ansätzen Zwischenprodukte zur Verwendung
für die nachstehenden Dispersionen hergestellt. Die Herstellung der
Zwischenprodukte erfolgte durch Umsatz von Ca-Carbid mit Methoxyäthanol
und nachfolgendejs Durchblasen des Gemisches mit CO ... Die Produkte der
einzelnen Ansätze hatten folgende Aniysenwerte:

Verfahren
Die Sulfonsäurelösung wurde in einen 1900 1 Pfaudier-Kessel mit absteigendem
Kühler gegeben. Der Reaktionskessel war mit einem Rührer ausgerüstet. 15 % des Wasser-Methoxyäthanol-Azeotrops wurden in den Kessel gegeben,
sowie 75 % des Verdünnungsöls (Zylinderöl 100). Eine zur Neutralisation der Sulfonsäure benötigte Menge des Kalzium-Zwischenproduktes
wurde in Abhängigkeit von den Pumpbedingungen und der gebildeten Sehaummenge
innerhalb von 15 bis 35 Minuten in das Reaktionsgefäss eingeführt. Wahrend der Zugabe betrug die Temperatur etwa 37,8 C. Die zur Erreichung
des gewünschten Basizitatsgrades benötigte Menge an Zwischenprodukt sowie der Rest des azeotropen Gemisches (85 %) wurden gleichzeitig zugegeben
und zwar innerhalb eines Zeitraumes von 40 bis 55 Minuten» Während dieser
Operation lag die Temperatur bei 32,2 bis 4O,6 C. Nach Erreichung des
Basizitatsgrades wurden die restlichen 25 % des Verdünnungsöls zugesetzt.
Innerhalb von 3 bis 4,5 Stundenwurden die Lösungsmittel abdestilliert.
Daraufhin wurde das Produkt (etwa 2 Std.) mit CO durchblasen, um die: ä
Entfernung flüchtiger Lösungsmittel (bei 148 C) zu erleichtern.

Dieses Beispiel zeigt, daß die gesamte im Zwischenprodukt enthaltene
Kohlendioxyd-Menge zur Bildung des Kalziumcarbonats im Produkt verwenäet

Verfahren
Ein mit Heizmantel, ·Rührer, -Thermometer, Rückflusskühler und zwei Tropftricltern
versehener 2 1 Dreihalskolben wurde mit folgenden Stoffen beschickt:

Der Kolbeninhalt wurde unter Rühren auf eine Temperatur von 43 C- rje-
bracht. Danach wurden die folgenden Stoffe gleichzeitig unter weiterem

Anschließend werden durch Erhitzen des Kolbens auf 150 C dip flüchtigen
Lösungsmittel entfernt. Das erhaltene, beinahe fertige Produkt, wird in zwei Teile geteilt, deren jeder in einen 1 1—Kolben gegeben wird,
welcher mit Rührer, Thermometer, Heizmantel und Gaseinleitungsrohr mit Frotte versehen ist. Der eine Teil wird nun eine Stunde lang mit Stickstoff
durchblasen, der andere mit CO . Dabei werden beide Kolben auf 15o C-gehalten.
Nach dem Abkühlen wurden beide Produkte analysiert:

Aus diesen Werten geht hervor, daß im wesentlichen das gesamte im
Zwischenprodukt enthaltene Kohlendioxyd zur Bildung des CaCO im Endprodukt
verwendet wird. Zusätzlich geht CO aus dem Ausblaseverfahren in sehr
geringen Mengen in das Endprodukt ein.

Claims (13)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung hochbasischer Dispersionen anorganischer
Kalziuraverbindungen in Schmiermitteln, wobei der Durchmesser der dispergierten
Teilchen 0,25 Mikron nicht übersteigt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
a) die alkoholische Lösung eines Kalzium-alkoxyd-carbonat-Karaplexes, ein
öllösliches Dispergiermittel, ein nichtflüchtiger Träger und Wasser im Überschuss
zur Menge, welche zur Hydrolyse des genannten Komplexes notwendig
ist, miteinander gemischt werden,
b) die erhaltene Mischung hydrolysiert wird,
c) die flüchtigen Bestandteile dee Gemisches entfernt werden sowie
genannte
d) weiter dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der gSKSDföe Komplex so hergestellt
wird, daß eine beim Umsatz mit Alkohol ein Gas entwickelnde Kalziumverbindung
mit einem Alkohol mit nicht mehr als 3 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül
aus der Gruppe der verzweigten primären und Halogen enthaltenden Alkohole
oder Monoätheralfcohole des Äthylenglykols und Diäthylenglykols zur Reaktion
gebracht und danach das Reaktionsgemisch mit Kohlendioxyd durchblasen
wird,
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Komponenten
der Verfahrensstufe a) vor Zugabe der Komplex-Lösung gemischt werden.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das öllösliche
Dispergiermittel ein Mittel aus der Gruppe der Sulfonsäuren, der Carbonsäuren oder Phosphorsulfid-behandelten Olefine oder ein Metallsalz
dieser Verbindungen ist.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bei der
Hydrolyse des Komplexes 1,1 bis 7 MbI Wasser pro Mol Komplex verwendet
werden, sowie weiter dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Alkohol Methanol
verwendet wird und beim Umsatz des Methanols mit der Kalziumverbindung
ein Katalysator aus der Gruppe Benzoylperoxyd, tert»ButyIhydroperoxyd,
Phosphortrichlorid, Toluolsulfonsäure, Postdodecylbenzolsulfonsäuren
Schwefelsäure und Kalziumchlorid zugegeben, das entstehende Methoxyd mit Is«butancfl in das Isobutoxyd überführt und das Reaktionsgemisch mit mindestens 1,5 Mol Kohlendioxyd pro Mol Kalziumisobutoxyd durchleitet wird.

verwendet wird und beim Umsatz des Methanols mit der Kalziumverbindung

Schwefelsäure und Kalziumchlorid zugegeben, das entstehende Methoxyd mit Is«butancfl in das Isobutoxyd überführt und das Reaktionsgemisch mit mindestens 1,5 Mol Kohlendioxyd pro Mol Kalziumisobutoxyd durchleitet wird.
5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 3,dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Alkohol
ein Monoätheralkohol des Äthylenglykols ist und pro Mol Kalziumalkoxyd 0,5 bis 1,5 Mol Kohlendioxyd durch das Reaktionsgemisch geleitet
werden.

6. Verfahren nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die KaIziuraverbindunn
Kalziumcarbid ist und die Hydrolyse mit 1,6 bis 2,4 Mol Wasser
pro Mol Komplex durchgeführt wird.
7· Verfahren nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß während der
Entfernung der flüchtigen Lösungsmittel das Gemisch mit Kohlendioxyd durchblasen
wird,
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 7» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der nichtflüchtige
Träger ein flüssiges Schmieröl ist.
9« Schmierölzusammensetzung unter Verwendung einer nach dem Verfahren
gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 8 hergestellten Dispersion, dadurch gekennzeichnet!
daß ein übliches Schmieröl mit der Dispersion so kombiniert wird, daß sich
ein Gehalt an der anorganischen Kalziumverbindung von 1 bis 20 % der Gesamtzusammensetzung
ergibt.
10. Schmierölzusammensetzung für Schiffsmotoren unter Verwendung einer
nach dem Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 8 hergestellten Dispersion, dadurch
geknnzeichnet, daß ein Schmieröl mit der Dispersion so kombiniert wird, daß sich ein Gehalt an der anorganischen Kalziumverbindung von 5
bis 25 % der Gesamtzusammensetzung ergibt.
11. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Kalzium-alkoxyd-carbonat-Komplexes,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß eine bei der Reaktion mit einem Alkohol ein Gas entwickelnde Kalziumverbindung mit einem Monoätheralkohol des Äthylen-

oder des Diäthylenglykols mit 3 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen im Molekül
umgesetzt und das Reaktionsgemisch mit 0,5 bis 1,5 Mol Kohlendioxyd

12. Verfahren nach Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Alkohol
Methoxyä.thanol und die Kalziumverbindung Kalziuecarbid ist.
