近年来,可以期待具有多价离子传导性的二次电池的实用化。其中,镁二次电池与以前的锂离子电池相比,具有高理论容量密度。

具体实施方式
下面使用附图,就实施方式的固体电解质进行详细的说明。
以下的说明均示出了概括的或者具体的例子。以下所示的数值、组成、形状、膜厚、电特性、二次电池的构造、电极材料等为一个例子,并不是限定本发明的主旨。除此以外,表示最上位概念的独立权利要求中没有记载的构成要素为任选的构成要素。
下面主要就二次电池中使用的固体电解质进行说明,但本发明的固体电解质的用途并不局限于此。固体电解质例如也可以用于离子浓度传感器等电化学装置。
[1.固体电解质]
[1-1.固体电解质的组成]
二价镁离子和一价锂离子相比,与固体电解质中的阴离子的静电相互作用较大,因此,难以在固体电解质中扩散。因此,在可传导镁离子的固体电解质中,希望离子传导率的提高。
对此,本发明人发现了以下新颖的固体电解质。
本实施方式的固体电解质含有复合金属卤化物。复合金属卤化物含有镁、镓、铟和卤素。在复合金属卤化物中,铟相对于镓和铟的总和的摩尔比小于0.2。
该复合金属卤化物也可以用通式MgGa2-aInaX8来表示。在此,X为选自Cl、Br以及I之中的至少1种。a满足0<a<0.4。
构成固体电解质的各元素的组成比例如可以采用X射线电子光谱分析法(X-RayPhotoelectron Spectroscopy:XPS)来进行定量。
在上述通式中,表示置换比率的a满足0<a<0.2。由此,在不损害固体电解质的结构稳定性的范围内,可以扩大晶格尺寸。因此,可以提高固体电解质内的镁离子的传导率。
在上述通式中,a也可以满足0.15≤a≤0.3。
在上述通式中,X也可以为Cl。
固体电解质例如以层的形式形成。层的厚度例如为0.5μm~200μm。由此,一面可确保防止短路等安全性,一面可降低对于镁离子传导的电阻值。例如,在固体电解质的离子传导率为1×10-6S/cm、且层的厚度为1μm的情况下,固体电解质的每单位面积的电阻值可以达到100Ω·cm2以下。
[1-2.镁离子传导的提高]
典型地说,镁化合物具有不显示镁离子传导性、或者仅显示极低的离子传导性的倾向。这是因为二价镁离子与一价碱金属离子(例如锂离子)相比,从周围的阴离子受到大的静电相互作用。与此相对照,本实施方式的固体电解质可以显示出优良的镁离子的传导率。可以推测这是基于以下的2个理由。
第1,本实施方式的复合金属卤化物通过含有镓,可以促进镁离子的离解。MgGa2X8至少在短程有序的区域,由在镁离子的周围卤素离子6配位的八面体、和在镓离子的周围卤素离子4配位的四面体构成。镓由于电负性比镁大,因而镓离子可以吸引周围的卤素离子的电荷。由此,可以促进镁离子的离解。
第2,MgGa2-aInaX8具有上述MgGa2X8中Ga的一部分被In置换而成的构造。Ga的离子半径(即晶体半径)为In的离子半径为/>因此,该置换使配位多面体的晶格尺寸和/或配位多面体彼此之间的间隔扩大。由此,镁离子移动的空间扩大,从而作用于镁离子间的库仑斥力减弱。其结果是,镁离子变得更容易移动。
综上所述,可以认为在由镓产生的作用下、以及由铟产生的作用下,本实施方式的固体电解质显示出优良的镁离子传导率。
[1-3.固体电解质的制造方法]
本实施方式的固体电解质例如可以通过混合多种金属卤化物并进行烧成而制作。
例如,作为原料,可以使用卤化镁、卤化镓和卤化铟。作为卤化镁的例子,可以列举出MgCl2、MgBr2以及MgI2。作为卤化镓的例子,可以列举出GaCl3、GaBr3以及GaI3。作为卤化铟的例子,可以列举出InCl3、InBr3以及InI3。各原料的分量可以根据目标的固体电解质的组成进行适当的调整。
这些原料可以采用公知的方法进行混合。作为混合方法的例子,可以列举出用乳钵混合的方法、用机械研磨法混合的方法、用珠磨机混合的方法以及用喷磨机(jet mill)混合的方法。混合方法既可以是干式混合,也可以是湿式混合。
混合的原料通过例如在不活泼气氛下且于200~500℃、12~24小时的条件下加热而进行烧结。
采用以上的制造方法,便可以得到本实施方式的固体电解质。
此外,本实施方式的固体电解质的制造方法并不局限于上述的例子。例如,原料也可以为单质。例如,原料也可以为金属氧化物或有机物。或者,固体电解质也可以使用公知的成膜法来形成。作为成膜法的例子,可以列举出溶胶-凝胶法、金属有机化合物分解法(MOD)、原子层沉积法(ALD)、化学气相沉积法(CVD)以及液相成膜法。
[2.二次电池]
[2-1.整体构成]
图1是示意表示本实施方式的二次电池10的构成例的剖视图。
二次电池10具有基板11、正极12、固体电解质层13和负极14。固体电解质层13配置于正极12和负极14之间。镁离子可以通过固体电解质层13而在正极12和负极14之间移动。
二次电池10的构造也可以是圆筒形、方形、纽扣形、硬币形或者扁平形。
二次电池10例如收纳于电池壳体的内部。二次电池10和/或电池壳体俯视看来的形状例如也可以是矩形、圆形、椭圆形或者六边形。
[2-2.固体电解质]
固体电解质层13的材料例如与[1.固体电解质]中说明过的固体电解质同样。
或者,固体电解质层13的材料也可以为其它的固体电解质。作为其它的固体电解质的例子,可以列举出氮化磷酸镁、MgxSiOyNz(其中,1<x<2、3<y<5、0≤z<1)、MgxMySiOz(其中,M为选自Ti、Zr、Hf、Ca、Sr以及Ba之中的至少1种,0<x<2、0<y<2、3<z<6)、Mg2-1.5xAlxSiO4(其中,0.1≤x≤1)、Mg2-1.5x-0.5yAlx-yZnySiO4(其中,0.5≤x≤1、0.5≤y≤0.9、x-y≥0、x+y≤1)、MgZr4(PO4)6、MgMPO4(其中,M为选自Zr、Nb以及Hf之中的至少1种)、Mg1-xAxM(M’O4)3(其中,A为选自Ca、Sr、Ba以及Ra之中的至少1种,M为选自Ze以及Hf之中的至少1种,M’为选自W以及Mo之中的至少1种,0≤x<1)、以及Mg(BH4)(NH2)。
也可以使用聚合物电解质、凝胶电解质或者电解液以代替固体电解质层13。
[2-3.基板]
基板11既可以是绝缘性基板,也可以是导电性基板。作为基板11的例子,可以列举出玻璃基板、塑料基板、高分子薄膜、硅基板、金属板、金属箔片材、以及将它们层叠而成的材料。基板既可以是市售的,或者也可以采用公知的方法进行制造。
在二次电池10中,基板11也可以省略。
[2-4.正极]
正极12例如包括含有正极活性物质的正极合剂层12a、和正极集电体12b。
正极合剂层12a含有能够嵌入和脱嵌镁离子的正极活性物质。
作为正极活性物质的例子,可以列举出金属氧化物、聚阴离子(polyanion)盐化合物、硫化物、硫族化合物以及氢化物。作为金属氧化物的例子,可以列举出V2O5、MnO2、MoO3等过渡金属氧化物、以及MgCoO2、MgNiO2等镁复合氧化物。作为聚阴离子盐化合物的例子,可以列举出MgCoSiO4、MgMnSiO4、MgFeSiO4、MgNiSiO4、MgCo2O4以及MgMn2O4。作为硫化物的例子,可以列举出Mo6S8。作为硫族化合物的例子,可以列举出Mo9Se11。
正极活性物质例如为结晶质。正极合剂层12a也可以含有2种以上的正极活性物质。
正极合剂层12a也可以根据需要,进一步含有导电剂和/或粘结剂。如后所述,正极合剂层12a也可以进一步含有固体电解质粒子。
导电剂只要是电子传导性材料即可,并没有特别的限定。作为导电剂的例子,可以列举出碳材料、金属以及导电性高分子。作为碳材料的例子,可以列举出天然石墨(例如块状石墨、鳞片状石墨)和人造石墨等石墨、乙炔黑、碳黑、科琴碳黑、碳晶须、针状焦以及碳纤维。作为金属的例子,可以列举出铜、镍、铝、银以及金。这些材料既可以单独使用,也可以混合多种使用。导电剂的材料从电子传导性以及涂布性的角度考虑,例如也可以是碳黑或者乙炔黑。
粘结剂只要起到维系活性物质粒子以及导电剂粒子的作用即可,并没有特别的限定。作为粘结剂的例子,可以列举出聚四氟乙烯(PTFE)、聚偏氟乙烯(PVdF)、氟橡胶等含氟树脂、聚丙烯、聚乙烯等热塑性树脂、乙烯丙烯二烯单体(EPDM)橡胶、磺化EPDM橡胶以及天然丁基橡胶(NBR)。这些材料既可以单独使用,也可以混合多种使用。粘结剂例如也可以是纤维素系或丁苯橡胶(SBR)的水分散体。
作为分散正极活性物质、导电剂以及粘结剂的溶剂的例子,可以列举出N-甲基吡咯烷酮、二甲基甲酰胺、二甲基乙酰胺、甲乙酮、环己酮、醋酸甲酯、丙烯酸甲酯、二乙撑三胺、N,N-二甲基氨基丙胺、环氧乙烷以及四氢呋喃。例如,在分散剂中也可以添加增稠剂。作为增稠剂的例子,可以列举出羧甲基纤维素以及甲基纤维素。
正极合剂层12a例如采用如下的方法形成。首先,将正极活性物质、导电剂和粘结剂混合。接着,在该混合物中添加适当的溶剂,由此得到浆料状正极合剂。接着,将该正极合剂涂布于正极集电体12b的表面并使其干燥。由此,便在正极集电体12b上形成正极合剂层12a。此外,为了提高电极密度,也可以对正极合剂进行压缩。
正极合剂层12a的膜厚并没有特别的限定,例如为1μm~100μm。
图2以放大剖视图的形式示意表示了正极合剂层12a的构造的一个例子。在图2中,正极合剂层12a含有正极活性物质粒子12P和固体电解质粒子13P。在该例子的情况下,固体电解质层13含有与固体电解质粒子13P同种的粒子,这些粒子可以由上述[1.固体电解质]中说明过的材料构成。此外,在图2中,导电剂以及粘结剂可以省略。
图3以放大剖视图的形式示意表示了正极合剂层12a的构造的其它例子。在图3中,正极合剂层12a含有正极活性物质粒子12P和固体电解质粒子13P。正极活性物质粒子12P被固体电解质覆盖膜13C所覆盖。在该例子的情况下,固体电解质层13含有与固体电解质粒子13P同种的粒子,这些粒子例如可以由上述[2-2.固体电解质]中说明过的“其它的固体电解质”的材料构成,固体电解质覆盖膜13C可以由上述[1.固体电解质]中说明过的材料构成。固体电解质覆盖膜13C例如可以在将正极活性物质粒子与导电剂以及粘结剂混合之前,形成于正极活性物质粒子的表面上。此外,在图3中,导电剂以及粘结剂可以省略。
正极12也可以具有仅由正极活性物质构成的正极活性物质层以代替正极合剂层12a。在此情况下,图1中的层12a与正极活性物质层相当。
正极集电体12b由在二次电池10的工作电压的范围内不会与正极合剂层12a发生化学变化的电子导体构成。正极集电体12b相对于镁金属的标准氧化还原电位的工作电压例如也可以在+1.5V~+4.5V的范围内。
正极集电体12b的材料例如为金属或者合金。更具体地说,正极集电体12b的材料也可以是含有选自铜、铬、镍、钛、铂、金、铝、钨、铁以及钼之中的至少1种的金属或者合金。正极集电体12b的材料从电子传导性、对离子导体的耐受性、以及氧化还原电位的角度考虑,例如也可以是铝、铝合金、铂或者金。
正极集电体12b也可以是透明的导电膜。作为透明的导电膜的例子,可以列举出铟-锡氧化物(ITO)、铟-锌氧化物(IZO)、氟掺杂氧化锡(FTO)、锑掺杂氧化锡(ATO)、氧化铟(In2O3)、氧化锡(SnO2)、以及含有Al的ZnO。
正极集电体12b也可以为板状或者箔状。正极集电体12b也可以是由上述的金属和/或透明的导电性膜层叠而成的层叠膜。
在基板11为导电性材料、且兼作正极集电体12b的情况下,正极集电体12b也可以省略。
[2-5.负极]
负极14例如包括含有负极活性物质的负极合剂层14a、和负极集电体14b。
负极合剂层14a含有能够嵌入和脱嵌镁离子的负极活性物质。
在此情况下,作为负极活性物质的例子,可以列举出碳材料。作为碳材料的例子,可以列举出石墨、硬碳和焦炭等非石墨系碳、石墨层间化合物。
负极合剂层14a也可以含有2种以上的负极活性物质。
负极合剂层14a也可以根据需要,进一步含有导电剂和/或粘结剂。导电剂、粘结剂、溶剂以及增稠剂例如可以适当利用[2-4.正极]中说明过的材料。
负极合剂层14a也可以进一步含有固体电解质粒子。负极合剂层14a也可以具有与上述[2-4.正极]中说明过的图2和图3的构造同样的构造。在此情况下,图2和图3所示的粒子12P与负极活性物质粒子相当。
负极合剂层14a的膜厚并没有特别的限定,例如为1μm~50μm。
或者,负极14也可以具有能够使镁金属溶解和析出的金属负极层以代替负极合剂层14a。在此情况下,图1中的层14a与金属负极层相当。
在此情况下,金属负极层由金属或者合金构成。作为金属的例子,可以列举出镁、锡、铋以及锑。合金例如为选自铝、硅、镓、锌、锡、锰、铋以及锑之中的至少1种和镁的合金。
固体电解质覆盖膜也可以设置在金属负极层上。在此情况下,例如固体电解质层13可以由在上述[2-2.固体电解质]中说明过的“其它的固体电解质”的材料构成,固体电解质覆盖膜可以由在上述[1.固体电解质]中说明过的材料构成。
负极集电体14b由在二次电池10的工作电压的范围内不会与负极合剂层14a或者金属负极层发生化学变化的电子导体构成。负极集电体相对于镁的标准还原电位的工作电压例如也可以在0V~+1.5V的范围内。
负极集电体14b的材料例如可以适当利用与[2-4.正极]中说明过的正极集电体12b同样的材料。负极集电体14b也可以为板状或者箔状。
在负极14具有能够使镁金属溶解和析出的金属负极层的情况下,该金属层也可以兼作负极集电体14b。
[2-6.补充]
正极集电体12b、负极集电体14b、正极活性物质层12a、金属负极层14a例如可以采用物理沉积法或者化学沉积法来形成。作为物理沉积法的例子,可以列举出溅射法、真空蒸镀法、离子镀法以及脉冲激光沉积(PLD)法。作为化学沉积法的例子,可以列举出原子层沉积法(ALD)、化学气相沉积(CVD)法、液相成膜法、溶胶-凝胶法、金属有机化合物分解(MOD)法、喷雾热分解(SPD)法、刮刀法、旋转涂布法以及印刷技术。作为CVD法的例子,可以列举出等离子CVD法、热CVD法以及激光CVD法。液相成膜法例如为湿式镀覆,作为湿式镀覆的例子,可以列举出电镀、浸镀以及化学镀。作为印刷技术的例子,可以列举出喷墨法以及丝网印刷。
二次电池10的制造方法并没有特别的限定。例如,二次电池10可以通过依次压制正极12的材料、固体电解质层13的材料以及负极14的材料而制作。
[3.实验结果]
[3-1.样品的制作]
按照以下说明的步骤,制作出各种样品。
首先,作为原料,准备无水氯化镁(MgCl2)、无水氯化镓(GaCl3)以及无水氯化铟(InCl3)。称量这些原料,使得Mg、Ga以及In的摩尔比为1:1.85:0.15。将称量过的原料在乳钵中混合,并将混合物封入玻璃制安瓿管(ampoule tube)中。到此为止的工序都在手套箱内的氮气氛下进行。最后,将安瓿管放入加热炉中,对混合物在500℃下加热24小时,从而得到实施例1的样品。
除了Ga和In的摩尔比不同这一点以外,采用与实施例1同样的方法,制作出实施例2~4以及比较例1的样品。实施例2~4以及比较例1的样品的组成分别如表所示。
除了将InCl3的一部分用InBr3代替这一点以外,采用与实施例1同样的方法,制作出实施例5的样品。实施例5的样品的组成分别如表所示。
除了不混合In这一点、以及Ga相对于Mg的摩尔比不同这一点以外,采用与实施例1同样的方法,制作出比较例2的样品。

[3-2.离子传导率]
对实施例1~5以及比较例1、2的样品的离子传导率采用交流阻抗测定进行了评价。
首先,按照以下说明的步骤,由各样品制作出评价用粒料。在手套箱内的氮气氛中,称量适量的各样品,将称量的样品盛入聚碳酸亚乙酯管(PC管、内径10mm、外径30mm、高20mm)内,并采用由不锈钢(SUS304)形成的夹具挟持该样品。接着,使用单轴挤压机(理研精机公司生产的P-16B),经由夹具并以5N/cm2的压力对样品进行挤压,从而成型出直径10mm、任意厚度的粒料。然后,使夹具保持挟持着粒料的状态不变而将其设置在固定用其它夹具上。由此,粒料便在以5N/cm2的压力受到挤压的状态下得以固定。在该状态下,将粒料与夹具一起搬入密闭用容器内。密闭容器的内部维持在氮气氛下。在密闭容器的外侧设置的电极端子经由引线而与密闭容器内的夹具进行电连接。
接着,对于粒料状的各样品,进行了交流阻抗测定。作为测定装置,使用电化学测定系统(Modulab:Solartron公司生产),作为恒温装置,使用环境试验机(エスペック生产、PR-2KP)。在交流电压50~100mV、频率范围0.01Hz~1MHz、温度25℃的条件下,对各样品的交流阻抗进行了测定。由该测定获得了各样品的粒料沿着主面的法线方向的电阻值。将这些电阻值分别换算为离子传导率,从而得到实施例1~5以及比较例1、2的样品的离子传导率。这些结果如表所示。
如表所示,实施例1~5的样品都显示出1.0×10-6S/cm以上的离子传导率。这些值比没有用In置换Ga的比较例2的样品的离子传导率更高。该结果表明In的置换使离子传导率得以提高。另一方面,用In置换20%的Ga的比较例1的样品与比较例2的样品相比,显示出更低的离子传导率。可以认为这是因为如果置换比率过高,则构造变得不稳定。
此外,正如在上述[1-2.镁离子传导的提高]中说明过的那样,镁离子传导率的提高是这样得到的:通过置换Ga的一部分而使配位多面体的晶格尺寸、和/或配位多面体彼此之间的间隔扩大。因此,可以推测即使在卤素为氯以外的元素的情况下、或者在含有多种卤素的情况下,也可以得到同样的效果。这例如也可以得到实施例5的结果的证实。
产业上的可利用性
本发明的固体电解质例如可以应用于二次电池。
Claims (8)
1.一种固体电解质,其含有复合金属卤化物,其中,
所述复合金属卤化物用通式MgGa2-aInaX8来表示,在此,X为选自Cl、Br以及I之中的至少1种,且0<a<0.4。
2.根据权利要求1所述的固体电解质,其中,所述a满足0.15≤a≤0.3。
3.根据权利要求1或2所述的固体电解质,其中,所述X为Cl。
4.一种镁二次电池,其具有:
正极、
负极、以及
权利要求1~3中任一项所述的固体电解质。
5.根据权利要求4所述的镁二次电池,其中,
所述正极和所述负极的至少一方含有合剂层,
所述合剂层含有多个活性物质粒子和多个固体电解质粒子,
所述多个固体电解质粒子为所述固体电解质的粒子。
6.根据权利要求4所述的镁二次电池,其中,
所述正极和所述负极的至少一方含有合剂层,
所述合剂层含有多个活性物质粒子、分别覆盖所述多个活性物质粒子的多个固体电解质覆盖膜、以及多个固体电解质粒子,
所述固体电解质覆盖膜为所述固体电解质的覆盖膜。
7.根据权利要求5或6所述的镁二次电池,其中,所述镁二次电池进一步具有固体电解质层,所述固体电解质层含有与所述合剂层中含有的所述多个固体电解质粒子同种的多个粒子,且不含有所述正极或者所述负极中含有的任一种活性物质粒子。
8.根据权利要求7所述的镁二次电池,其中,所述正极、所述固体电解质层以及所述负极依次层叠在一起。
