在一些实施方案中，集合记录位速率可小于最大可用记录位速率。因此，用于转发器的为15兆位／秒的集合位速率可小于(例如)高达40兆位／秒的最大可用位速率。因此，播放已记录的内容的实例涉及内容接收器确定用于内容的同时记录的多个实例的文件的集合记录位速率，以及基于集合记录位速率而播放内容的实例。

记录及回放内容的多个实例中的一者或一者以上可涉及处理单元224读取与内容的实例的初始帧相关联的元数据，例如包识别符(“PID”)和呈现时间戳(“PTS”)。举例来说，在播放内容的实例时，处理单元224可仅选择用于待播放的内容的实例的PID，而忽略内容的多个同时记录的实例的文件内的其它PID。PID一股为与例如内容流和补充数据流等数据流相关联的识别符，其识别用于数据流的信道。若干PID可与由内容提供者204控制的一个转发器相关联且是利用图1的系统来同时记录。通过识别或选择用于正从文件回放的内容的实例的正确PID，内容接收器202可前往正确地确定将显示内容的同时记录的多个实例中的哪个实例。
一股来说，内容接收器202可包含多个调谐器107、多路分用器109、解扰码器110和／或其它解码器。在一些情况下，可从载波或其它信号解调内容以便重新建构、记录及／或观看内容。在许多情况下，解调发生在解扰码之前。可将多路分用及解扰码视为解码的实例。
在一些实施例中，单个解码器(例如多路分用器109和／或解扰码器110)或任何给定类型的一个解码器(例如，一个解调器和一个解扰码器)可与多个调谐器107相关联。每一调谐器可经调整以接收特定频带或转发器。因此，每一调谐器可接收不同转发器且因此可接收所述转发器上的内容的多种实例。
在此实施例中，每一调谐器107经调谐到的转发器可用共同控制字来编码。以此方式，每一单独调谐器可将在对应转发器上接收的内容的多个实例发射到单个解码器以用于处理。因为与各种转发器相关联的内容经一股地编码，所以解扰码器110可相对有效地将所有此类内容解扰码。可接着记录内容的这些多个实例，如先前所详述。以此方式，多个调谐器可与单个解扰码器相关联以便从一个以上转发器／频带接收内容的多个实例并记录内容的多个实例。因此，多个调谐器可用以接收可能比单个转发器上携载的内容量多的内容且可通过所述调谐器所共同的且为所述调谐器所共享的元件来多路分用及／或解扰码所有此类内容。由于共同控制字用以加密在不同转发器上携载的内容，因此单个解码器可处置所有内容。因此，可将内容的多个实例视为第一内容集合和第二内容集合，每一内容集合一股用控制字来加扰但携载在不同载波频率上。
应了解，多个转发器可使用相同控制字(或其它解密钥)，即使不使用单个解扰码器也如此。即，多个转发器可用单个控制字来加扰且一个调谐器107或通信单元220可从每一个此转发器接收对应数据。每一调谐器或单元可将所接收的信号发射到专用于所述调谐器以用于解扰码的解扰码器，在这点上，可将内容的多个实例的每一集合记录到存储媒体(分别地或在一个或一个以上集合文件中)。
在替代实施例中，可将从多个转发器接收的内容的多个实例记录在存储媒体上而不进行解扰码或解密。解扰码可发生在回放内容时。即，可将从转发器接收的内容的多个实例的全体作为单个文件(或在一些实施例中，每一转发器一个文件)存储在存储单元226上，所述内容仍被加密。解扰码器可仅在回放内容时解密内容。在此实施例中，可从存储媒体226检索经加扰的内容，在执行识别及显示特定内容的操作之前将经加扰的内容发送到单个解扰码器且将经加扰的内容解扰码，如上文所描述。
在一些实施例中，系统可检查以查看多个转发器上的内容是否使用相同控制字进行加扰。此情形可(例如)在对应于内容的实例中的一者或一者以上或转发器中的一者或一者以上的元数据中加以指示。元数据可识别用相同控制字加扰的所有内容和／或所有转发器。因此，处理单元224可接收此元数据且，响应于所述元数据，指示通信单元222从所述转发器中的每一者接收数据。在此实施例中，通信单元222可具有多个调谐器107。可接着存储所接收的内容并重放所接收的内容，如本文中别处所描述。也应了解，除元数据之外，某些实施例也可使用用户命令来指示通信单元222接收数据。同样地，可由内容提供者204来起始接收及记录内容的实例的命令。
以下情形可为有用的或希望的：除用共同控制字编码内容的多个实例之外，其次也用共同控制字编码内容的多个实例的某一子集。举例来说，此情形可准许将内容的子集递送到某些用户。内容的此子集可为额外的或增强的内容。作为一个实例，内容的子集可为与内容的多个实例的某一其它部分相关联的“幕后”呈现，且可仅被提供到支付额外费用的那些用户。内容的子集可与内容的其它多个实例中的一个或一个以上实例有关或可整个为单独的。可存取内容的子集的用户可为支付费用的用户、居住在某一地理区域中的用户或以其它方式与某一地理区域相关联的用户、对应于某些人口统计的用户等等。
可将内容的子集加扰两次，一次用内容的多个实例和／或转发器所共同的控制字来加扰，且一次用特定子钥来加扰。因此，可接收内容的子集且最初进行解扰码(根据本发明的其它部分)，而可保持通过子钥来加扰内容的子集，但内容的所有其它实例可完全经解扰码。可记录子集以及内容的多个实例中的其余实例。应了解，在适于所讨论的实施例时，任一内容或所有内容的解扰码可发生在将内容记录到数据存储媒体226之前或之后。
在一个实施例中，内容的子集不可由除经授权的用户之外的任何用户来回放。可通过几乎不可由未经授权的用户存取来接收及存储内容的子集。可防止未经授权的用户播放内容的已记录的子集，但未经授权的用户可能能够在已记录的内容列表中查看内容的已记录的子集。可为未经授权的用户呈现解锁内容的选项，例如购买内容或执行某一其它动作等。
在替代实施例中，可将内容的子集存储在内容的多个实例中的剩余实例中(在适当时，作为单独文件或存储在单个文件中)，且不可为未经授权的用户检测到。因此，仅经授权的用户可感知及／或接收内容的子集。
在本发明中，所揭示的方法可实施为可由装置读取的指令或软件的集合。另外，应理解，所揭示的方法中的步骤的特定次序或阶层为样本方法的实例。在其它实施例中，可重新布置所述方法中的步骤的特定次序或阶层，同时仍在所揭示的标的物内。随附方法权利要求以样本次序呈现各种步骤的要素，且未必意味着限于所呈现的特定次序或阶层。
所描述的发明可提供为计算机程序产品，或软件，其可包含具有存储在其上的指令的非暂时性机器可读媒体，可用以对计算机系统(或其它电子装置)编程以执行根据本发明的过程。非暂时性机器可读媒体包含用于存储呈可由机器(例如，计算机)读取的形式(例如，软件、处理应用程序)的信息的任何机构。非暂时性机器可读媒体可采用以下各者但不限于以下各者的形式：磁性存储媒体(例如，软磁盘、录像带盒等等)；光学存储媒体(例如，CD-ROM)；磁光学存储媒体；只读存储器(ROM)；随机存取存储器(RAM)；可擦除可编程存储器(例如，EPROM和EEPROM)；快闪存储器；等等。

Claims (20)

1.一种用于记录内容的多个实例的方法，其包括：
在内容接收器处接收起始记录的指令；
响应于所述指令，将第一调谐器设定到第一载波频率；
进一步响应于所述指令，将第二调谐器设定到第二载波频率；
在所述第一调谐器处接收内容的第一集合，内容的所述第一集合用控制字加密；
在所述第二调谐器处接收内容的第二集合，内容的所述第二集合用所述控制字加密；以及
将内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合记录在存储媒体上。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合是实质上同时接收。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法，其中所述第一载波频率和所述第二载波频率相同。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合是作为单个文件记录在所述存储媒体上。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其进一步包括在将内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合记录在所述存储媒体上的所述操作之前，将内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合解扰码。
6.根据权利要求5所述的方法，其中将内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合解扰码的所述操作是由与所述第一调谐器和所述第二调谐器两者相关联的单个解扰码器来执行。
7.根据权利要求1所述的方法，其中内容的所述第一集合包括进一步用子钥加密的内容子集。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法，其中所述内容子集存储在具有内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合的单个文件中。
9.根据权利要求7所述的方法，其中所述内容子集仅可由经授权的用户存取。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法，其中所述内容子集的呈现仅可被经授权的用户看见。
11.一种用于接收内容的多个实例的设备，其包括：
第一通信单元，其操作以接收在第一转发器上发射的内容的实例的第一集合；
第二通信单元，其操作以接收在第二转发器上发射的内容的实例的第二集合；
处理单元，其操作地连接到所述第一通信单元和所述第二通信单元，所述处理单元操作以控制所述第一通信单元和所述第二通信单元；
解扰码器，其操作以将内容的所述第一实例和所述第二实例解扰码；以及
数据存储单元，其操作以接收并存储内容的所述第一实例和所述第二实例。
12.根据权利要求11所述的设备，其中所述解扰码器操作以使用单个控制字来将内容的所述第一实例和所述第二实例解扰码。
13.根据权利要求12所述的设备，其中所述解扰码器操作以在从所述数据存储单元检索内容的所述第一实例和所述第二实例后，便将内容的所述第一实例和所述第二实例解扰码。
14.根据权利要求12所述的设备，其中：
所述第一通信单元操作地连接到所述解扰码器；且
所述第二通信单元操作地连接到所述解扰码器。
15.一种用于解密内容的方法，其包括：
接收用第一载波频率调制的经加密的内容的第一集合；
实质上同时地，接收用第二载波频率调制的经加密的内容的第二集合；以及
用共同控制字解密经加密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合两者，由此产生经解密的内容的第一集合和第二集合。
16.根据权利要求15所述的方法，其进一步包括将经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合存储在存储媒体上。
17.根据权利要求16所述的方法，其中经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合存储在单个文件中。
18.根据权利要求17所述的方法，其中经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合根据时间戳方案存储在所述单个文件中。
19.根据权利要求16所述的方法，其进一步包括在存储经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合时，将第一内容发射到显示装置。
20.根据权利要求15所述的方法，其中所述第一频率和所述第二频率相同。
