Dans le dessin annexé qui représente, titre d'exemple. deux formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention destinées à être appli quées à titi moteur rotatif d'aviation ; La fig. 1 est une coupe axiale d'une pre mière forme d'èxécutiori ; Fig. 2 eu est une vue en bout avec coupe partielle; Fig. 3 et 4 sont respectivement une élé vation latérale et titi plan d'une deuxième forme d'exécution ;
Sur l'autre fond e de la boîte est vissée une tubulure f de prise d'air munie d'un couvercle g en pomme d'arrosoir comportant des perforations<B>lé.</B> Ce couvercle y présente une douille centrale i qui vient s'emboîter avec une douille ,j rendue solidaire de la tu bulure f par des nervures /;
cl.</I> Le manchon r et la goupille b pourraient être remplacés par (ni écrou permettant de régler la tension initiale du ressort Son fonctionnement est identique à celui des fig. I et '_', c'est-à-dire que;

Device preventing backfire for injector carburetors. This invention relates to a device preventing backfire for injector carburators.
According to the invention, the device comprises a valve housed in a box and intended to cut off the admission of the air necessary for combustion when a flashback occurs in the suction line of the engine and a relief valve. exhaust clia.rgée by a spring and allowing the exhaust of the burnt gases which form overpressure in said box.
In the accompanying drawing which represents, by way of example. two embodiments of the object of the invention intended to be applied to a rotary aviation engine; Fig. 1 is an axial section of a first form of execution; Fig. 2 eu is an end view with partial section; Fig. 3 and 4 are respectively a side elevation and titi plan of a second embodiment;
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. ; Fig. 6 shows a diametrical section of the spherical valve along the line 4-4 of FIG. 5.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2., the nozzle or injector connected to the pipe leading from the gasoline i-ései-voii-, not shown, is screwed into the circular wall b of a metal box c having for example a cylindrical shape, one of which is of the bottoms carries a fitting d intended to receive the communication pipe with the motor, not shown.
On the other bottom e of the box is screwed an air intake tube f fitted with a cover g in the sprinkling head with <B> wide perforations. </B> This cover has a central socket i which fits with a socket, j made integral with the tu bulure f by ribs /;
, in suitable numbers. The sleeve, j constitutes L its inner end m a key carrying surface for a sleeve ii integral with a valve o which can slide on the guide sleeve r. <B> Cu </B> valve is arranged opposite a seat formed on the pipe f from which it is kept apart by a light spring rT.
The lifting of this valve is limited by titi plug r integral with a rod s passing through the sockets i,, j and whose position can be adjusted using a nut i taking on the outer part of this rod suitably threaded.
The rod 5 comprises an appropriate manceuvrv or-ane ending within reach of the driver and whose position can be adjusted at will using any suitable device, not shown.
On the cylindrical wall b of the box e is screwed a seat tt for a valve r opening outwards and a spring .r of suitable force constantly tending to keep applied on the seat. This valve opens into a jar J which small receive titi tuvarr clearance of suitable length not r-ep-resentF '.
During normal engine operation, the suction which takes place in 1 <The pipe leading to the connection d causes the opening of the valve o which is aided by the spring il and thus determines the arrival of the carburizing air. which, after knocking on the valve o forming a guard, mixes with gasoline or other liquid fuel escaping through the nozzle rt .. The air coming knocking on this valve,
takes a whirling motion, bringing with it the gasoline which comes out of the jet, which ensures an extreme division of the gasoline molecules and their intimate mixture with the air in the body known as the carburetor itself.
If, for some reason, a flashback occurs in the suction line of the engine, the blown gasoline which tends to flow back to the gasoline tank arrives in the chamber c determining in this last a pressure which causes the valve o to close, thus cutting off the air supply.
The ignited gases are extinguished by the suppression of the arrival of the oxidizer.
'On the other hand, the overpressure created in chamber c by acting on valve c causes the latter to open and the burnt gases escape into the atmosphere through pot J and the pipe which follows it. without causing damage.
This device effectively prevents any flashback to the fuel tank by smothering the flames that occur in the engine suction pipe at their birth and allowing, after their extinction, the flow of gases at a suitable point. without disturbing the driver of the engine. The valve o, forming a shutter in front of the air inlet orifice and the arrangement of the body of the carburettor ensure an intimate mixture of air and gasoline, which results in a notable saving in fuel.
On the other hand, the mixture of air and fuel being carried out thoroughly before the arrival of this mixture at the crankcase, there can no longer be any dissolution or mixing of the gasoline in the fuel oil. lubrication., contrary to what happens in some carburettors, which further increases economy.
The spring x as well as the spring q small can be adjusted with precision - determine the pressure at which the closing of the valve o and the opening of the valve r will occur.
These valves can affect any force you want and the. rod: could be ordered for example by titi sector in grained or in any other suitable way, the opening limit being given for example by the nut t for titi general operation.
The embodiment of the device r # epr # represented by figs. 3 to ti comprises a spherical box c provided at its lower part with a suction pipe f 'coming of cast iron with it, the orifice of which is crossed by straight ribs g (fig. 5) leaving between them holes h .
small, the passage of air, and supporting a central sleeve i., and, at its upper part, a pipe d for communication with the motor, screwed into the wall of the box c and crossed by arched rib Ic supporting a central sleeve, j. The connected outer surface of the valve distributes the air evenly as soon as it enters and directs it,
in normal operation, following a path of small and gradual curvature, allowing it to pass through the communication pipe with the motor without having to undergo any abrupt change of direction.
The sleeves z and, j located in extension of one another. on the vertical axis of the spherical box c, serve as guides for the stem s of the spherical valve o.
This valve (6g. L '<B> 6 </B>) is hollow (in order to reduce the weight to a minimum) and composed of two parts: the lower one, hemispherical in which is screwed a cross whose handle is central chon surrounds the x rod on which it is pinned:
the other, upper, in the form of a spherical zone bounded by a convex diaphragm whose central boss is screwed onto said rod, the outer surfaces s, iigneu- semently turned together after assembly, connecting with precision.
The valve o is. normally, removed from its seat p by a coil spring it, of just sufficient force to keep it raised.
which supports, by its end. lower on the sleeve j, cry surrounding the sleeve ii integral with the latter, and by its upper end. on bare sleeve r secured to the .x rod by a pin t.
On the side of the casing r is cast a muffler J of spherical or other shape, at the bottom of which is cut the seat ic of a valve v, whose rod z is supported and guided in the sleeve central ic of a cross screwed into the orifice of the jar J, the valve L being normally,
hand held applied to its seat by a coil spring x very slightly compressed, relying on a city on the valve v, on the sleeve ic. The device described above is mounted between the carburetor and the gas intake tube using the connection flanges ending the pipes <I> f,
cl. </I> The sleeve r and the pin b could be replaced by (no nut to adjust the initial tension of the spring Its operation is identical to that of fig. I and '_', that is to say than;
when a flashback occurs in the suction line of the engine, the ignited gasoline which tends to flow back to the gasoline tank, arrives in the casing c determining in the latter a pressure which brings the valve o to the closed position shown in dashed lines in fig. 5,
so the flaming gays go out as a result of the suppression of the combustion air supply. On the other hand, the excess pressure created in the casing c by acting on the valve r causes the opening of the latter, and the burnt gases escape into the atmosphere through the pot.
y and the pipe which follows it, without causing damage. The sphere determines an energetic stirring, without causing loss of power to the motor.
