<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"MEANS AND DEVICES FOR ENRICHING GAS GAS GENERATES
INTENDED FOR SUPPLYING ENGINES ".
The present patent relates to various means and devices for enriching gas from gasifiers intended for supplying engines.
The various means and devices include: a) An intake of the oil vapors from the crankcase of the engine, for example to the sniffer, and their supply through an appropriate pipe into the gas-air mixture pipe connected to the engine. b) Automatic air intake in the gas line by means of an air intake valve to the atmosphere, controlled by an adjustable tension spring. o) Heating in a box or tank under the direct or indirect influence of the heat supplied by the exhaust gases of the engine, of a solid or liquid material, capable of being released under the influence of the heat, gases or vapors which directed into the pipe of the gas-air mixture contribute to the enrichment of said mixture.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
d) addition to the gasifier or any other. suitable heat source from a small boiler intended to produce water vapor which, via a pipe or pipe, opens to the air inlet of the burner or burners with which the gasifier is supplied.
All these means and devices can obviously be applied separately or to several of them or in full, all this depending on the characteristics of the speed of the engine power, the type of gasifier used, the nature of the fuel of which it is. made use of.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings represent schematically the means and devices in question, and this for explanatory purposes and not as limitation in the forms, arrangements, or other considerations of which they can be the object.
To this end, fig.I shows the schematic plan view of an engine to which the means and devices are applied at points a, b, c, listed above.
Fig.2 shows a partial section in elevation along A-B fig.3 in a gasifier on the outer wall of which is attached a small boiler for the production of steam.
FIG. 3 represents a partial exterior view in elevation of a gasifier ;;
Fig.4 is a sectional elevation still along A-B fig.3 in a construction detail.
With regard to point a) see fig.I, on the sniffer 9 of the engine 1 is connected a pipe 10 opening out through a bevelled orifice 11 directed in the direction of the arrival of the air-gas mixture, in the supply line 2 of the latter to engine 1.
The automatic admission of fresh air into the gas pipe arriving from the gas purifier comprises a pipe 5 connected to pipe 3 and opening out below a cone pipe
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
4 arranged in the pipe 3, for the effect of forming an ejector in the pipe 5 and to cause, depending on the speed of the engine, the lifting of the air inlet valve 6, guided by its rod in a spacer 8 and biased by an adjustable return spring 7.
The third means and device, that is to say point c) enumerated above, includes a chamber or reservoir 14 with filler cap, 15,, arranged or arranged to withstand the heat released directly or indirectly by the pipe of the pipes. exhaust gas 16 which can either pass through the reservoir 14 or act on the latter by radiation. At the upper part of this chamber or reservoir is connected a pipe 13 opening through a bevelled orifice I2 in the inlet pipe 2 of the air-gas mixture to the engine 1, in the direction of the latter's arrival.
The fourth means and device forming the subject of point d) envisaged is shown in one embodiment in fig.2,3,4.
With reference to these figures, on the outer wall 18 of the gasifier 17 is for example welded or attached in any suitable manner oonvenable a small boiler 31 intended to contain the water introduced by a filling plug 27 forming a safety valve thanks to to its internal arrangement comprising for this purpose, a valve 28 and a spring 29, the tension of which is adjustable by the plate 30 serving as a guide for the valve 28 and screwed more or less deeply into the cap 27. The wall 19 of the . boiler 31 thus forming a projection on the gasifier itself 17 is provided in its central part,
a pipe allowing the introduction of the nozzle 21 provided with its refractory sheath 26 in the gasifier 17 and this time fixed in an easily removable manner no longer to the wall of the gasifier, but to the front wall 19 of the boiler by the nuts 22 engaged on the studs integral with the wall 19 of the boiler 31.
In the upper part of the boiler 31 is arranged the scoop 20 which, through line 35, opens at 24 to the inlet orifice 23 of the nozzle '-...,: ;; removable 21.
The water vapor produced by the boiler 31 subjected to the heat given off by the gasifier 17 is thus mixed at 23 with the air entering the nozzle 21 and contributes to enriching the gas formed @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
in the gasifier 17.
The production of water vapor could possibly be produced by the heat supplied by the use of the exhaust gases and this by using for this purpose a small boiler or tank suitable for this use.
It goes without saying that the various means and devices which are mentioned in the course of this memory, may include other embodiments than those indicated and are subject to variant embodiments according to the requirements imposed both by the own construction of the engine than that of its gasifier.
