B. Allyl, 1-Chlorvinyl, substituiertes Alkyl, z.
Process for the preparation of pyrimidine dyes The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-soluble dyes which contain at least one dihalogenated pyrimidine ring whose 5-position is occupied by a substituent other than halogen and alkyl.
The process consists in organic compounds which have at least one reactive thiol or, preferably, hydroxyl group and, in addition, at least one substituent capable of forming azo dye,
EMI0001.0018
The following can be considered as bridge members:
EMI0001.0021
where R 'can stand for hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, or
EMI0001.0028
where R "represents an acyl radical.
The process is carried out, for example, by starting from organic compounds which contain at least one hydroxyl or thiol group and also at least one substituent which enables dye formation. The conversion into the final dyes is carried out by azo coupling.
One can proceed in such a way that one contains at least one hydroxyl or thiol group and also one diazotizable amine group with a 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidine whose 5-position is occupied by a substituent different from halogen and alkyl,
condenses and the reaction products obtained are converted into water-soluble dyes by an azo coupling.
The hydroxyl or thiol groups can be bound directly to an aromatic nucleus or indirectly via an aliphatic chain and, if appropriate, a bridge member.
The following can be mentioned as aliphatic chains: the compound reacts with a 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidine, the intermediate product is diazotized and the diazo compound is coupled with a coupling component to form a water-soluble dye,
or that a compound containing at least one hydroxyl or thiol group and also a substituent which can be converted into a diazotizable amino group is reacted with a 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidine, in the intermediate product these substituents are converted into the amino group,
the amino body is diazoated and the diazo compound is coupled with a coupling component to form a water-soluble dye.
On the other hand, compounds with at least one hydroxyl or thioz group and at least one carbon atom capable of coupling, eg. B. dihydroxy compounds, condense with a 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidine according to the invention to form an intermediate product which can be used as a coupling component.
Of course, you can also couple the diazo compound from a diazo component containing a dihalopyrimidyl radical with a coupling component which also contains a dihalopyrimidyl radical.
The organic compounds which can be used to build up the pyrimidine dyes are, for example: 1,3- or 1,4-amino-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acids or -carboxylic acids, 1- (3'- or 4'-hydroxy) - phenyl-3 methyZ 5 pyrazolones, dihydroxynaphihalins and preferably their sulfonic acids, for example 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid.
The 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines according to the invention include the 2,4,6-tribromopyrimidines which have, for example, the following substituents in the 5-position: nitro, optionally substituted carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid amide, alkenyl, e.g. .
B. allyl, 1-chlorovinyl, substituted alkyl, e.g. B. carboxymethyl, chloromethyl or bromomethyl.
The reaction of the compounds used as starting materials with the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines according to the invention is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium. Here, the halide can be used as such in concentrated form or dissolved in an organic solvent. Particularly suitable solvents for the halopyrimidines are acetone, benzene, chlorobenzene and toluene.
The reaction temperature is expediently adapted to the reactivity of the individual starting products. Temperatures between 0 and 100 C are preferably used. If temperatures higher than about 40 C have to be used, it is advisable, with regard to the water vapor volatility of the halopyrimidines, to work in vessels which may be equipped with a reflux condenser.
The reaction can be carried out in a strongly to weakly alkaline, neutral to weakly acidic medium. To neutralize the resulting one equivalent of hydrogen halide, an acid-binding agent, such as sodium acetate, is advantageously added to the reaction solution at the beginning, or sodium or potassium carbonate or bicarbonate in solid, pulverized form or can be added in small portions during the reaction add as a concentrated aqueous solution.
Aqueous solutions of sodium or potassium hydroxide are also suitable as neutralizing agents. The addition of small amounts of a wetting agent or emulsifying agent to the reaction mixture can accelerate the conversion reaction.
The reaction is expediently conducted so that only one halogen atom of the 2,4,6-trihalokyrimidine according to the invention reacts with the exchangeable hydrogen atom of the hydroxyl or thiol group.
After the condensation has ended, the reaction product can be isolated in a customary manner, or it can be converted immediately into a water-soluble dye by azo coupling.
The water-soluble dyes carrying at least one dihalogenated pyrimidine ring according to the invention are suitable for dyeing, padding and printing fibers of animal origin, e.g. B. wool, silk, synthetic polyamide fibers, e.g. B. nylon, leather, cellulose fibers, e.g. B. cotton, linen and regenerated cellulose fibers, e.g. B. viscose rayon, copper rayon, rayon, and mixtures and / or structures made of these fibers.
The optimal application conditions vary depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used. Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers will preferably be dyed and printed in acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, or. fix, e.g. B. in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, etc. You can also in the presence of leveling agents such.
B. polyoxyethylated fatty amines or Gemi's same with alkyl polyglycol ethers, essib acidic to neutral color and at the end of the coloration the bath by adding small amounts of an alkaline agent, eg. B. ammonia, sodium bicarbonate, soda, etc., or compounds that react alkaline in the heat, z. B. hexamethylene tetramine, urea, blunt to neutral or weak. Alkaline reaction.
This is followed by thorough rinsing and, if necessary, acidified with a little acetic acid.
When dyeing and printing fibers and materials of animal origin, fibers and structures made of synthetic polyamide often result in a less pronounced bond between the dye molecule and the fiber, depending on the reactivity of the dye, as the dyes are partly thanks to their acidic character Have an affinity for fibers.
The dyeing, padding and printing or Fixie ren the dyes on cellulose fibers takes place before geous enough in an alkaline medium, eg. B. in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, sodium metasilicate, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc.
To avoid reduction phenomena, when dyeing, padding or printing the fibers, mild oxidizing agents such as sodium 1-nitrobenzene-3-sulfonic acid are often advantageously added. In the case of cellulose fibers, too, the dyes are usually fixed under heat. The dyes can be used if sufficiently strong alkalis such as sodium,
or potassium hydroxide or tri-sodium phosphate, even at low temperatures, e.g. B. 20-40 C, colored or fixed.
The dyeings and prints running cellulose fibers are particularly notable for their excellent wet fastness properties. These are based on the formation of a stable chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often not all of the dye takes part in the chemical reaction with the fiber.
The proportion of the unreacted dye is len in these Fäl by suitable operations, such as rinsing and / or soaps, optionally using higher temperatures, removed from the fiber, where in synthetic detergents such.
B. alkyl aryl sulfonates, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl polyglycol ether sulfate and optionally carboxymethylated alkyl polyglycol ethers, mono- and dialkylphenyl polyglycol ethers, find use.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 10.9 parts of 1-hydroxy-3-aminobenzene are dissolved in 1000 parts of water with the addition of 8.8 parts of sodium hydroxide. 24.5 parts of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid are added to this solution and the mixture is stirred. Hours at room temperature. The reaction product precipitates out as pulpy crystals and is filtered off.
The amount of moist paste corresponding to 31.4 parts of dry x- (3'-amino), phenoxydichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid is mixed with 100 parts of 10% hydrochloric acid in 100 parts of water and, at 0-5, with 25 parts of 4N sodium nitrite solution diazotized.
For coupling, 28.6 parts of 1-acetylamino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 250 parts of water and the solution is made neutral by adding soda. The mixture is cooled to 0-5 and brought to a pH of 4-4.5 with glacial acetic acid. Then the diazo solution is added, the pH is adjusted to 4-4.5 by adding sodium acetate and the mixture is stirred at 5 overnight. The dye is then filtered off and dried at 60.
It is a bluish red powder that is soluble in water with the same color.
