Additional patent to main patent no. 359228 Process for the production of pyrianidine dyes The present invention relates to a process for the production of water-soluble dyes which contain at least one dihalogenated pyrimidine ring whose 5-position is occupied by a substituent different from halogen and alkyl.
The process is characterized in that organic dyes which contain at least one, preferably more than one water-solubilizing group and at least one hydroxy or thiol group bonded to an aromatic nucleus or an aliphatic chain link, with a 2.4 , 6-trihalogenopyrimidine, the 5-position of which is occupied by a substituent different from halogen and alkyl, condenses in such a way that
that only one halogen atom of the trihalopyrimidine is converted.
The new process is suitable for all classes of water-soluble dyes which contain a reactive thiol group or preferably a reactive hydroxyl group. Thus, for example, the hydroxy monoazo and polyazo dyes, hydroxyanthraquinone dyes and hydroxyphthalocyanine dyes are particularly suitable. The hydroxymono- and polyazo dyes can be coordinated metal atoms, for example chromium, cobalt, nickel or copper,
exhibit. With the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines according to the invention it is also possible to react those hydroxyazo dyes which have metallizable groups.
Such dyes can e.g. B. metallized after the condensation in substance or in a metal-free form by one of the usual methods with the fiber to react, the dyeings obtained can be aftertreated with metal-donating agents.
Furthermore, the dyes which, in addition to at least one reactive hydroxyl group, also carry an optionally monosubstituted reactive amino group, are also suitable for reaction with the 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidines.
The hydroxyl group can be bound directly to aromatic nuclei of the dye molecule or indirectly via an aliphatic chain and, if appropriate, a bridging member to the dye molecule.
The following are aliphatic chains:
EMI0001.0048
The following can be considered as bridge links between the aliphatic chain and the dye molecule:
EMI0001.0051
where R 'can stand for hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, or
EMI0002.0001
where R "represents an acyl radical.
As 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines of the type mentioned, the 2,4,6-tribromopyrimidines and, preferably, the 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidines are to be mentioned, which in the 5-position, for example, the following substituents wear tuenten: nitro, optionally substituted on the nitrogen atom carboxamide or sulfonic acid amide, alkenyl, z. B. allyl, chlorovinyl, substituted alkyl, e.g. B.
Carboxymethyl, chloromethyl or bromomethyl.
The reaction of the water-soluble dyes used as starting materials with the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium. The halide can be used as such in concentrated form or else dissolved in an organic solvent. Solvents suitable for the halopyrimidines are in particular acetone, benzene, chlorobenzene and toluene.
Temperatures between 0 and 100 ° C. are preferably used. If temperatures higher than about 40 C have to be used, it is advisable, with regard to the steam volatility of the halogen pyrimidines, to work in vessels equipped with a reflux condenser if necessary.
The reaction can be carried out in a strongly to weakly alkaline, neutral to weakly acidic medium. To neutralize the resulting one equivalent of hydrogen halide, an acid-binding agent, such as sodium acetate, can either be added to the reaction solution at the beginning, or sodium or potassium carbonate or bicarbonate in solid, pulverized form or can be added in small portions during the reaction add as a concentrated aqueous solution.
However, aqueous solutions of sodium or potassium hydroxide are also suitable as neutralizing agents. The addition of small amounts of a wetting agent or emulsifier to the reaction mixture can accelerate the reaction.
After the condensation has ended, the finished pyrimidine dye can be salted out with sodium or potassium chloride from its previously neutralized solution or suspension or precipitated with acid, then filtered off with suction, washed and dried.
The new, at least one dihalopyrimidyl residue carrying, water-soluble dyes are suitable for dyeing, padding and printing fibers of animal origin, eg. B. wool, silk, of syntheti's polyamide fibers, z. B. nylon, leather, cellulose fibers, e.g. B. cotton, linen, hemp and regenerated cellulose fibers, e.g. B. viscose rayon, copper rayon, rayon, as well as mixtures and (or structures made of these fibers.
The optimal application conditions differ depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used. Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers will preferably be dyed and printed or fixed in an acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, etc. You can also in the presence of leveling agents z.
B. polyoxyethylated fatty amines or mixtures of the same with alkyl polyglycol ethers, acetic acid to neutral color and at the end of the coloration the bath by adding small amounts of an alkaline agent such. B. ammonia. Sodium bicarbonate, soda, etc., or compounds which react alkaline in the heat, e.g. B. hexamethylene tetramine, urea, blunt to a neutral or weakly alkaline reaction. This is followed by thorough rinsing and, if necessary, acidified with a little acetic acid.
When dyeing and printing fibers and structures of animal origin and fibers and materials from synthetic polyamide, depending on the reactivity of the dye, there is often a less pronounced bond between the dye molecule and the fiber, as the dyes are partly thanks to their acidic character Have an affinity for the fiber.
The dyeing, padding and printing or fixing of the dyes on cellulose fibers is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, sodium metasilicate, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc., where you can use the commonly used wetting, gelling, thickening or other textile or leather auxiliaries .
To avoid reduction phenomena, mild oxidizing agents, such as sodium 1-nitro-benzene-3-sulfonic acid, are often advantageously added when dyeing, padding or printing the cellulose fibers. In the case of cellulose fibers, too, the dyes are usually fixed in the heat. The dyes can be used when using sufficiently strong alkalis such as sodium or potassium hydroxide or trisodium phosphate, even at low temperatures, eg. B. 20-40 C, colored or fixed.
The dyeings and prints on cellulose fibers are particularly notable for their excellent wet fastness properties. These are based on the formation of a stable chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often not all of the dye takes part in the chemical reaction with the fiber. In these cases, the portion of the unreacted dye is removed from the fiber by suitable operations such as rinsing and (or soaps, if necessary using higher temperatures, synthetic detergents such as.
Alkyl aryl sulfonates, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl polyglycol ether sulfate and optionally carbo-oxymethylated alkyl polyglycol ethers, mono- and di-alkylphenyl polyglycol ethers, are used.
In the examples below, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 47.9 parts of the monoazo dye (as sodium salt), which is obtained by coupling diazotized 3-aminobenzyl alcohol with 1- (2 ', 5'-dichloro) -phenyl-3-methyl -5-pyrazolone-4'-sulfonic acid is obtained in an alkaline medium, are dissolved in 1600 parts of water at 40% neutral and then made clearly alkaline with about 50 parts of 30 / day sodium hydroxide solution on phenolphthalein.
The mixture is then cooled to 10 and a mixture of 24.2 parts of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid in 200 parts of water and 15 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution are added within 60 minutes and the mixture is stirred overnight 0-30. The new dye turns out to be gelatinous. It is diluted with water until the dye has dissolved and salted out with sodium chloride, the new yellow dye is isolated in the customary manner and it is dried at 60 in a vacuum.
The new dye is a yellow powder that dissolves in water with a greenish yellow color. On wool and synthetic polyamide fibers as well as on fibers made of cellulose, it produces pure greenish yellow dyeings and prints with excellent lightfastness and excellent wetfastness. Dyeing instructions: 2 parts of the dye obtained, 0.8 part of an oxethylated fatty amine and 0.5 part of an oleyl polyglycol ether are dissolved in 5000 parts of water and 2 parts of glacial acetic acid are added. This dye liquor is heated to 40-50, whereupon 100 parts of wool are added and the bath is brought to the boil within 30 minutes.
The mixture is boiled for 45 minutes, after which the material is rinsed and dried. This gives a level, very lightfast and wetfast greenish yellow coloration.
Example 2 The 47.9 parts of the monoazo dye used in Example 1 are replaced by 45.2 parts of 2- (4'-hydroxyphenylazo) -naphthalene-4,8-disulfonic acid sodium or 52 , 5 parts of 1-acetylamino-7- (3'-hydroxyphenylazo) -8-hydroxynaphtha% -3,6-disulfonic acid or 46.8 parts of 1- (4'-hydroxyphenylazo) -2 - Sodium hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid or 43.2 parts of 1-amino-4- (4'-hydroxyphenylamino)
-anthraquinone - 2 - sulfonic acid sodium or 102 parts of copper phthalocyaninesulfonic acid-N-methyl-N- (2'-hydroxy) -äthylamidtrisulfonsaures sodium, one obtains reactive dyes, which wool in reddish yellow, bluish red, red, blue or turquoise light and wet-fast tones.
