<I>Färbevorschrift</I> 1.

Additional patent to main patent no. 359228 Process for the preparation of pyrimidine dyes The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-soluble dyes which contain at least one dihalogenated pyrimidine ring whose 5-position is occupied by a substituent other than halogen and alkyl.
The process is characterized in that organic dyes which contain at least one, preferably more than one water-solubilizing group and at least one optionally monosubstituted amino group, are combined with a 2,4,6-trihalopyrimidine, its 5-position is condensed by one of halogen and alkyl which substituents are different.
The new process is suitable for all classes of water-soluble dyes. The amino group can be monosubstituted by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or haloalkyl radicals.
Examples of water-soluble organic dyes which contain at least one amino group are amino mono- and polyazo dyes, aminoanthraquinone dyes and aminophthalocyanine dyes. The amino mono- and polyazo dyes can have coordinatively bonded metal atoms, for example chromium, cobalt, nickel or copper.
It is also possible to react aminoazo dyes with the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines which have metallizable groups. Such dyes can e.g. B. metallized in substance after the condensation or in a metal-free form by one of the usual methods with the fiber to react, the dyeings obtained can be aftertreated with metal-donating agents.
The amino group can be bound directly to aromatic nuclei of the dye molecule or indirectly via an aliphatic chain and, if appropriate, a bridge member to the dye molecule.
aliphatic chains are the following:
EMI0001.0047
The following can be considered as bridge members:
EMI0001.0049
where R 'can stand for hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, or
EMI0001.0057
where R "represents an acyl radical.
As are 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines. z. These include, for example, the 2,4,6-tribromopyrimidines and preferably the 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidines, which have, for example, the following substituents in the 5-position: nitro, optionally substituted carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid amide on the nitrogen atom , Alkenyl, e.g. B. allyl, 1-chloro-vinyl, substituted alkyl, e.g. B.
Carboxymethyl, chloro- or bromomethyl.
The reaction of the water-soluble dyes used as starting materials with the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidines is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium. The halide can be used as such in concentrated form or else dissolved in an organic solvent. Particularly suitable solvents for the halopyrimidines are acetone, benzene, chlorobenzene and toluene.
The reaction temperature must of course be adapted to the reactivity of the individual starting materials. Temperatures between 0 and 100 ° C. are preferably used. If temperatures higher than about 40 C have to be used, it is advisable, with regard to the steam volatility of the halogen pyrimidines, to work in vessels which may be equipped with a reflux condenser.
The reaction can be carried out in a weakly alkaline, neutral to weakly acidic medium. To neutralize the resulting one equivalent of hydrogen halide, an acid-binding agent, such as sodium acetate, is expediently added to the reaction solution at the beginning, or sodium or potassium carbonate or bicarbonate can be added in small portions during the reaction in solid, powdered form or as add concentrated aqueous solution.
However, aqueous solutions of sodium or potassium hydroxide are also suitable as neutralizing agents. The addition of small amounts of a wetting agent or emulsifying agent to the reaction mixture can accelerate the conversion reaction.
The reaction is conducted in such a way that only one halogen atom of the 2,4,6-trihalogenopyrimidine reacts with an exchangeable hydrogen atom of the optionally monosubstituted amino group.
After the condensation has ended, the finished pyrimidine dye can be salted out with sodium or potassium chloride from its previously neutralized solution or suspension or precipitated with acid, then filtered off with suction, washed and dried.
The new water-soluble dyes carrying at least one dihalopyrimidyl residue are suitable for dyeing, padding and printing fibers of animal origin, e.g. B. wool, silk, synthetic polyamide fibers, z. B. nylon, leather, cellulose fibers, e.g. B. cotton, linen and regenerated cellulose fibers, e.g. B. viscose rayon, copper rayon, rayon, and mixtures and / or structures made of these fibers.
The optimal application conditions differ depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used. Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers will preferably be dyed and printed or fixed in an acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, etc. You can also in the presence of leveling agents such.
B. polyoxyethylated fatty amines or mixtures of the same with alkyl polyglycol ethers, acetic acid to neutral color and at the end of the coloration the bath by adding small amounts of an alkaline agent such. B. ammonia, sodium bicarbonate, soda, etc., or compounds which react alkaline in the heat, z. B. hexamethylene tetramine, urea, blunt to a neutral or weakly alkaline reaction. It is then rinsed thoroughly and, if necessary, acidified with a little acetic acid.
When dyeing and printing fibers and structures of animal origin and fibers and materials from synthetic polyamide, depending on the reactivity of the dye, there is often a less pronounced bond between the dye molecule and the fiber because the dyes have an affinity, partly thanks to their acidic character to own fiber.
The dyeing, padding and printing or fixing of the dyes on cellulose fibers is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide solution, potassium hydroxide solution, sodium metasilicate, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc. To avoid reduction phenomena, when dyeing, padding or printing the fibers, mild oxidizing agents such as 1-nitro- benzene-3-sulfonic acid sodium, added.
In the case of cellulose fibers, too, the dyes are usually fixed in the heat. When using sufficiently strong alkalis, such as sodium or potassium hydroxide or trisodium phosphate, the dyes can also be used at low temperatures, e.g. B. 20 to 40 C, dyed or fixed, the fixing time advantageously between 24 and 48 hours BE wears. The dyeings and prints on cellulose fibers are particularly notable for their excellent wet fastness properties.
These are based on the formation of a stable chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often not all of the dye takes part in the chemical reaction with the fiber. The proportion of the unreacted dye is removed from the fiber in these cases by suitable operations such as rinsing and / or soaps, if necessary using higher temperatures, synthetic detergents such as.
B. alkyl aryl sulfonates, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl poly glycol ether sulfate and optionally carboxymethylated alkyl polyglycol ethers, mono- and dialkyl phenyl polyglycol ethers, find use.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
<I> Example 1 </I> 57.6 parts of copper phthalocyanine are introduced into 270 parts of chlorosulfonic acid and the solution is heated to 140-145 ^ for 3 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the mass is poured onto 1500 parts of ice. The resulting suspension is filtered off and washed with ice-cold 1 a / o hydrochloric acid. The filter cake is stirred well with 300 parts of ice and 500 parts of water. The suspension is adjusted to a pH of 7 by adding sodium hydroxide solution.
15 parts of 1-amino-3-acetylamino-benzene and 100 parts of sodium bicarbonate are then added and the mixture is stirred for 24 hours. Then it is heated to 60 for 1 hour. 200 parts of 3011 / o hydrochloric acid are then added and the resulting suspension is stirred at 85-90 for 3 hours. The intermediate product is filtered off and washed well with 2% hydrochloric acid.
The filter cake is stirred with 800 parts of water and neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution. Then 25 parts of 2,4,6 - trichloro - 5 - (1'-chloro - vinyl) - pyrimidine are added. So much caustic soda is added at 30-40 that a pH of 5.5-7 is maintained. As soon as no more sodium hydroxide solution is consumed, the dye is separated off by adding table salt. It is filtered off and dried in vacuo at 40-50. The ground dye is a dark blue powder that dissolves in water with a turquoise blue color.
<I> Dyeing instructions </I> 1. A mercerized cotton fabric is treated with a solution which contains 40 g / 1 calcined sodium carbonate, 20 g / 1 of the dye obtainable according to the above information and 5 g / 1 1-nitrobenzene 3-sulfonic acid sodium contains, impregnated at 40 and squeezed to 1.8 to 2 times its original dry weight. The material is then conditioned for 4 to 6 hours at 90-95 in a box with a constant moisture content.
It is then rinsed thoroughly in cold and hot water, soaped at the boil with 5 g / 1 soap for 45 minutes, rinsed again and dried. A brilliant turquoise-blue dyeing of good wet and light fastness is obtained.
z. Cotton sateen is printed with a printing paste of the following composition:
EMI0003.0034
30 <SEP> parts <SEP> of <SEP> after <SEP> the <SEP> above <SEP> information
<tb> obtained <SEP> dye,
<tb> 100 <SEP> parts <SEP> urea,
<tb> 490 <SEP> parts of <SEP> water,
<tb> 350 <SEP> parts <SEP> of a <SEP> 4o / o, igen <SEP> sodium alginate thickener,
<tb> <U> 30 <SEP> Te </U> ile <SEP> sodium carbonate
<tb> 1000 <SEP> parts The dried textile material is steamed for 10 to 15 minutes at 102 to 104 and then rinsed thoroughly cold and warm. After the boiling soap and the subsequent rinsing and drying again, a brilliant turquoise-blue print of good wet and lightfastness is obtained.
2,4,6-Trichloro-5- (1'-chloro-vinyl) -pyrimidine is obtained by reacting 5-acetyl-barbituric acid with phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of diethylaniline. The product is purified by distillation in vacuo; it boils at 131 to 34 at 16 mm of mercury.
<I> Example 2 </I> 21 parts of 2- (4'-amino-2'-methyl) -phenylazo-naphthalene-4,8-disulfonic acid are dissolved neutrally in 250 parts of water with the addition of 30 hours of sodium hydroxide solution. The solution is heated to 75 to 85 in a stirred flask equipped with a reflux condenser, 13.5 parts of 2,4,6-trichloro-5-chlorovinyl pyrimidine are then added and the mixture is kept at 75-85 for a few hours with vigorous stirring.
The hydrogen chloride formed during the reaction is continuously neutralized by adding dilute sodium carbonate solution while maintaining a pH of 5-6. When the reaction has ended, which can easily be determined by chromatography, the pyrimidine dye is precipitated by the slow addition of sodium chloride, filtered off and the presscake is washed with dilute sodium chloride solution. The dye, dried in vacuo at 80, is a yellow-brown powder which dissolves in water with a yellow color.
If the 2,4,6-trichloro-5- (1'-chloro-vinyl) -pyrimidine is replaced by the corresponding amount of 2,4,6-tri-bromo-5- (1'-bromo-vinyl) -pyrimidine, this gives a similar dye. <I> Dyeing instructions </I> A fabric made of mercerized cotton is padded with a 3 d / a neutral, 50% warm solution of the dye with a squeeze effect of about 85 11 / o. The material so impregnated is dried.
To fix it, the textile material is moved for about 45 minutes in a 70-80 warm developing bath containing 250 parts of anhydrous sodium sulfate and 15 parts of trisodium phosphate per 1000 parts of solution. The liquor ratio chosen for the fixation is 1:10 to 1:50. The material treated in this way is rinsed thoroughly with cold water, then soaped twice at the boil, rinsed again and then dried. The reddish yellow dye obtained is excellent lightfast and wetfast.
<I> Example 3 </I> 23.5 parts of 6 - (phenylazo) - 2 - amino-5-hydroxynaphthalene-7,2'-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 750 parts of water at a pH of 4.7 and 50 solved. 25 parts of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid are added over the course of 45 minutes, and the mixture is refluxed for 5 hours, the pH being kept constant by adding soda. The course of the reaction can be followed with the help of a talk column.
After the reaction has ended, the dye is precipitated with 200 parts of salt and filtered off. To clean it, it is precipitated again from 560 parts of water. After drying at 60, an orange-red powder is obtained which is fairly soluble in water with the same color.
The above-mentioned 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid is prepared in the following way: The barbituryl-5- obtained by condensation of urea with a, a ', i3-ethane-tricarboxylic acid triethyl ester in an alcohol containing sodium ethylate acetic acid is suspended in phosphorus oxychloride with the addition of dimethylaniline and then heated to 95 for 16 hours.
The acid obtained by pouring onto ice is filtered off and recrystallized from water with the addition of dimethyl sulfoxide. It crystallizes in small, colorless needles with a melting point of 193-19511.
<I> Dyeing instructions </I> For dyeing, 2 parts of dye are dissolved in 5000 parts of water with the addition of 3 parts of glacial acetic acid, and the liquor is set to 50. One goes with 100 parts of wool and brings to a boil within 30 minutes. After cooking for one hour, the dyed material is dried with or without an ammonia aftertreatment. A level dyeing with good washfastness and lightfastness is obtained.
The 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidyl-5-acetic acid used here can easily be replaced by the corresponding amount of 2,4,6-tribromopyrimidyl-5-acetic acid.
<I> Example 4 </I> 50 parts of 1-amino-4- (4'-methylamino) -phenylaminoanthraquinone-2,2'-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 800 parts of 60 water with the addition of sodium hydroxide solution up to one pH value of 6. 26 parts of 2,4,6-trichloro-5- (1'-chloro-vinyl) - pyrimidine are now added and dilute sodium hydroxide solution is added dropwise to keep the pH value constantly between 4.5 and 6th
When the condensation has ended, the excess of 2,4,6-trichloro-5- (1'-chloro-vinyl) -pyrimidine is removed by blowing in steam. 32 parts of potassium chloride are now introduced and the mixture is allowed to cool while stirring. The dyestuff which has precipitated out is filtered off and dried in vacuo at 60-80.
A dark blue powder is obtained which dissolves well in water with a blue color and colors fibers made of natural or regenerated cellulose in blue light, wash, sweat, water, rubbing and dry cleaning-fast shades.
The dye reserves cellulose triacetate, polyacrylonitrile and polyethylene terephthalate fibers. If in this example the 1-amino-4- (4'-methylamino) -phenylamino-anthraquinone-2,2'-disulfonic acid is replaced by the 1-amino-4- (4'-amino) -phenyl-amino- anthraquinone-2,2'-disulfonic acid or by the 1-amino-4- (4'- or 3'-amino) - or -4- (4'- or 3'-methylamino) -phenylamino-anthraquinone-2,
6- or -2,7-disulfonic acid, similar dyes are obtained.
The following table contains the chemical names of the reactive dyes which contain a dichloropyrimidyl radical with a 5-position -CCl = CH .-- or -CH2COOH group and are obtainable according to the information in Examples 1 to 4, from reactive groups free dyes. In these names, the amino group or groups to which the reactive group is attached are in italics.
