Process for the preparation of reactive dyes The invention relates to a process for the preparation of reactive dyes, which is characterized in that 1 mol of an organic, water-soluble dye, or disperse dye which is sparingly soluble in water and which has at least one optionally monosubstituted amino group, has at least 1 mol a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0010
wherein two X are halogen and the remaining X is hydrogen or halogen, converts.
The new process is suitable for all classes of water-soluble dyes and disperse dyes that are sparingly soluble in water. An optionally monosubstituted amino group is preferably to be understood as meaning the amino group optionally monosubstituted, for example by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or haloalkyl radicals.
In the organic dyes, the amino group can be bound directly to an aromatic nucleus of the dye molecule or indirectly to the dye molecule via an aliphatic chain and optionally a bridge member.
The following are aliphatic chains:
EMI0001.0024
The following can be considered as bridge members:
EMI0001.0025
where R 'can stand for hydrogen, low molecular weight alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, or
EMI0001.0032
where R "represents an acyl radical.
Notable examples of this type are amino-mono-, amino- and amino-polyazo dyes, aminostyryl dyes, amino-nitro dyes, amino-hydroxyquinophthalone dyes, aminoanthraquinone dyes and aminophthalocyanine dyes. The amino mono and amino polyazo dyes can be coordinated metal atoms, for example chromium,
Cobalt, nickel or copper. It is also possible to react those aminoazo dyes with at least 1 equivalent of a compound of the formula (I) which have metallizable groups. Such dyes can e.g. B. can be metallized after condensation in bulk or in metal-free form by one of the customary methods with the fiber to react, the dyeings obtained can be aftertreated with metal-releasing agents.
The reaction of the water-soluble dyes used as starting materials with the reactive compounds is preferably carried out in an aqueous medium. The compound of the formula (1) can be used as such in concentrated form but dissolved in an organic solvent. Particularly suitable solvents for the reactive compounds are acetone, benzene, chlorobenzene and toluene.
The reaction can be carried out in a weakly alkaline, neutral to weakly acidic medium. The reaction temperature must be adapted to the reactivity of the individual starting compounds. Suitable temperatures are e.g. B. -10 to 30 C.
The preferred pH range is between 4 and 7. To keep the pH constant, an acid-binding agent, such as sodium acetate, can be added to the reaction solution at the beginning, or in small portions sodium or potassium carbonate or during the reaction.
-Add bicarbonate in solid, powdered form or as a concentrated aqueous solution. Aqueous solutions of sodium or potassium hydroxide are also suitable as neutralizing agents. The addition of small amounts of a wetting agent or emulsifying agent to the reaction mixture can accelerate the conversion reaction.
After the end of the condensation, the water-soluble reactive dye obtained can be salted out with sodium or potassium chloride from its optionally previously neutralized solution or suspension or precipitated with acid, then filtered off with suction, washed and dried.
The water-soluble dyes carrying at least one reactive radical according to the invention are suitable for dyeing, padding and printing fibers of animal origin, e.g. B. wool, silk, synthetic polyamide fibers, z. B. nylon, leather, cellulose fibers, e.g. B. cotton, linen and regenerated cellulose fibers, e.g. B. viscose rayon, copper rayon, rayon, as well as mixtures and / or formation from these fibers. The optimal application conditions differ depending on the type of fiber and the dyes used.
Animal fibers and synthetic polyamide fibers will preferably be dyed and printed or fixed in an acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of acetic acid, formic acid, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate, Na trium metaphosphate, etc. You can also in the presence of leveling agents z. B. polyoxyethylated fatty amines or mixtures of the same with alkyl polyglycol ethers, color acetic acid to neutral and at the end of the coloration the bath by adding small amounts of an alkaline agent, eg. B.
Ammonia, sodium bicarbonate or carbonate, etc. or compounds which react alka cally in the heat, e.g. B. hexamethylenetetramine, urea blunt to a neutral or weakly alkaline reaction. This is followed by thorough rinsing and, if necessary, acidified with a little acetic acid.
When dyeing and printing fibers and structures of animal origin and fibers and structures made of synthetic polyamide, depending on the reactivity of the dye, there is often a less pronounced bond between the dye molecule and the fiber, in that the dyes have an affinity for, partly thanks to their acidic character Own fiber.
The dyeing, padding and printing or fixing of the dyes on cellulose fibers is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium, e.g. B. in the presence of sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide solution, potassium hydroxide solution, sodium metasilicate, sodium borate, trisodium phosphate, ammonia, etc.
To avoid reduction phenomena, mild oxidizing agents, such as sodium 1-nitrobenzene-3-sulfonic acid, are often advantageously added when dyeing, padding or printing the fibers; other additives, in particular urea and other low molecular weight substances with at least one H, N-CO group, but also guanidine, increase the solubility of the dyes and the color yield, especially in pad dyeing and printing. In the case of cellulose fibers, too, the dyes are usually fixed in the heat.
The dyeings and prints on cellulose fibers are particularly notable for their excellent wet fastness properties. These are based on the formation of a stable chemical bond between the dye molecule and the cellulose molecule. Often not all of the dye takes part in the chemical reaction with the fiber. The proportion of the unreacted dye is removed from the fiber in these cases by suitable operations such as rinsing and / or soaps, if necessary using higher temperatures, synthetic detergents such as.
B. alkylarylsulfonates, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl polyglycol ether sulfate and mono- and dialkylphenyl polyglycol ethers are used.
The reaction of the disperse dyes, which are sparingly soluble in water, with a reactive compound can be carried out in aqueous suspension, in aqueous-organic suspension or solution or in a solution in an inert solvent. The compound of the formula (1) can be used as such in concentrated form or else dissolved in an organic solvent. Particularly suitable solvents are acetone, dioxane, benzene, chlorobenzene and toluene.
The isolation of the disperse dyes can be done by one of the basic operations such as B. filtration, concentration of the solvent, precipitation from the solvent with a suitable medium.
The disperse dyes carrying at least one reactive radical are suitable for dyeing, padding and printing hydrophobic fibers and fiber mixtures, as well as shaped structures made of such fibers, for example fibers or structures made of cellulose ethers and esters and of fully synthetic fibers or structures, e.g.
B. those made of linear polyesters, polyurethanes, polyacrylonitrile and their copolymers and mixtures of these fibers or structures, - but preferably of synthetic polyamide fibers and base-modified polyacrylonitrile fibers. The dyeings have good light, perspiration, washing, fulling, sublimation, pleating, thermosetting and sea water fastness properties.
The material to be dyed is subjected to heat treatment during or after the dyeing or padding or pressure. When dyeing, padding and printing you can use the commonly used wetting, leveling, thickening or other textile auxiliaries, while the heat treatment is advantageously carried out in the presence of halogenated hydrogen-binding agents.
Suitable dispersants are advantageously condensation products of naphthalenesulfonic acid and formaldehyde, esters of sulfosuccinic acid, Turkish red oil, condensation products of alkylphenols with ethylene oxide, soaps and other similar dispersants in the presence or absence of colloidal protective substances such as dextrins, British gum and water-soluble proteins.
Acetate rayon, which is very sensitive at temperatures above 90 C, is preferably dyed at temperatures between 60 and 85 C, while the triacetate rayon can be dyed at 95 to 100 C.
The coloring of the fully synthetic fibers (linear aromatic polyesters, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride) can be carried out at temperatures from 60 to 100 C. When using temperatures above 100 C one works under pressure.
The dyed fibers can be washed with warm water or a synthetic detergent, if necessary, then rinsed and dried. If necessary, the treatment with an inorganic or organic base or an alkaline soap or an alkaline cleaning agent can be carried out in one operation.
The disperse dyes are also suitable for printing on artificial fibers with the aid of dispersants. It is advantageous to use alkaline, e.g. B. sodium bicarbonate-containing printing pastes, which also with the usual additives, such as urea, thiourea ,. Guanidine etc. are provided.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 42.3 parts of 2-amino - 5 - hydroxy - 6 - phenylazo- naphthalene-2 ', 7-disulfonic acid are dissolved in 600 parts of water by adding sodium hydroxide solution at a pH of 4, 5-6 solved. After cooling to 0-5, 15.5 parts of finely powdered 3,5-dichloro-1,2,4-triazine are added to the solution and the mixture is stirred for a further 2 to 3 hours at 0-5.
The pH of the reaction mass is kept between 4.5 and 6 by adding dilute sodium carbonate solution.
When the exposure is complete, the condensation product is salted out and filtered off. The dye, dried at 30 in a vacuum, is an orange-red powder.
Dyeing instructions 100 parts of cotton satin are padded with a 2% neutral aqueous solution of the above dye at room temperature. The material impregnated in this way is then squeezed off to 1.6 to 2.2 times its original dry weight and then dried. The textile material is placed in a developing bath which contains 300 gp of sodium chloride and 5 g of sodium carbonate and has a temperature of 90-95, and it is left in this bath for 40 to 60 minutes.
Then the textiles treated in this way are finished in the usual way by soaking and rinsing. The coloration obtained is light and wetfast.
The table below contains other valuable dyes which have a reactive residue and which can be prepared according to the above example. They are identified by the corresponding dyes free of reactive radicals in column (II), with the groups reacted with a reactive compound with an exchangeable hydrogen atom being underlined. Column (III) shows the color of the dyeings and prints on cotton or, in the case of dyes 8 and 9, on synthetic polyamide fibers.
