Loom with two weft carriers. The present invention relates to a weaving machine with two weft carriers, characterized in that one of the weft carriers is smaller than the other to enter it during the transfer, said. smaller weft carrier, having its base disposed in the extension of the underside of a ribbon to which it is attached, so that it presses against a part of the leaf on which it slides, the larger weft carrier having its base cut out and its sides extending.
downwards to end in the plane of the underside of a ribbon to which it is attached, to allow the introduction of the smaller weft holder while the two weft holders are supported by the leaf substantially over their entire length .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a partial embodiment of the loom which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view showing the two weft carriers of this loom.
The, fig. 2 is an elevation of the weft carriers shown in plan in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 (Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of one of the weft hooks which forms part of a weft carrier.
Fig. 5 is a section on line 5-5 of fig.1.
Referring now to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the larger weft carrier 213 will be described in more detail. The weft holder itself is made of sheet metal, although it could be made in any other way, and has a rectangular cross section as shown in the cross section in fig. 3.
The sides are extended forward to form points 360 and 361 in the shape of a V , the central part or the point in V being at about half of the total height of the weft carrier, so as to be more or less in line with the shed and to separate any warp thread which could have been placed improperly inside the extreme planes which should be occupied by the shed .
The weft retaining parts disposed more or less in the center of the weft carrier are placed between the side members and behind the tips 360 and 361 as they move through the shed and thus constitute protective devices which prevent any warp thread from coming to engage in this weft carrier, which could otherwise be the case.
Of course, if a warp thread were to be caught in one of the weft carriers, considerable damage could result.
The upper part, designated by the reference 362, is provided with a notch whose end is designated by the reference 363 and this notch, located generally in the middle of the width, can guide and control the weft thread which is temporarily hand held in position to engage inside this notch when the weft holder is. launched into the crowd by its 180 ribbon.
It is understood that each weft carrier functions as an insertion member to push the weft towards the center of the shed and then, on a subsequent part of the cycle, functions to grip it. weft coming from said opposite weft holder and pulling it out of the shed thus extending it completely over the width of the fabric. A weft hooking device, which includes -Lin hook. 364 and a guide 365, est. arranged centrally with respect to the horizontal width of the weft carrier. This weft attachment device is retained at its outer end by its insertion into a so-called weft carrier support and. clamped in position by a screw 216.
The weft carrier and its support are then welded or soldered directly. on the end of the ribbon 180. The base of this weft holder is cut out and its sides extend downward to end in the plane of the underside of the ribbon, so that there will be no irregular surfaces to disturb the warp threads as the weft carrier passes through them. The weft carrier is narrower than the width of the tape itself, then it must pass between said tape guide means as it moves to the outermost position.
The opposite or phis small weft holder 214, which is also [J-shaped, is attached in a similar fashion except that a pair of set screws 217 pass through. vertically the weft holder to penetrate into a support block, the base of the weft holder being arranged in the extension of the underside of the tape 215, these two parts being soldered to the end of the tape.
The hook 364 of the hooking device comprises an extension in the form of a curved wire barb 366 which, in reality, constitutes a retaining member between the parts 364 and 365. The guide 365 is hollowed out or comprises a groove in the middle. the vicinity of the wire wire 366 and just enough space is left between the interior of the groove and the wire to allow entry of the weft wire.
Once the thread has. entered into the notch 363 and was seized at the same time by the weft hooking device, it cannot be extracted therefrom except. that being pulled out of said device in the longitudinal direction. This is only possible when a key end of the frame is. released and that the opposite weft hooking device has received the weft during the transfer, whereupon it serves to pull it, in the longitudinal direction, through said opposite positive device.
The smaller weft carrier 214 has a notch 367 and the thread on this side is led slightly off the axis of the ribbon 215 so that it enters this notch by means of which it is moved towards the center. axial position at the inner end key the notch when the ribbon is thrown into the shed. The weft hooking device located on this side actually constitutes a part of the top of the weft carrier itself.
This frame holder 214 is of rectangular section or box-shaped, as shown in FIG. 5, and it is provided with pointed protection members 368 and 369 which play the same role as the protection members 360 and 361 of the weft holder 213.
The upper plate of this weft holder 214 is notched to form the notch 367 as well as a hook 370 and a guide 371 similar to the elements 364 and 365 key to the other weft holder. A barb 372, made of metal wire, operates in a similar fashion to the member 366 and, once the weft has been introduced into the weft hooking device, it can only be extracted after release of one of the ends. , as described above for the large weft holder.
The weft hooking device of the large weft carrier comprising the hook 361, the guide 365 and the retainer 366 is located at the end of a flat bar 373 and is at a somewhat lower level than the corresponding parts of the bar. smaller weft carrier 214. This allows the recovery of the opposing weft hooking devices and the weft thread held in the notches of the weft carrier when the transfer takes place.
When a weft yarn is. launched towards the center of the shed by the left weft hooking device, and given that it is maintained in a suitable state of tension between the notch 363 and the corresponding notch of the weft hooking device , the hooking device of the right weft holder, when this weft holder is launched to the left, grasps the thread thus held so that it slides between the barb 372 and the guide 371 </ B > and either. retained in the space between these parts and the hook. 370.
All this takes place when the ribbons reach the end of their travel and the weft carriers enter one into the other in the center of the shed, the weft carriers sliding on part of the bat tünt supporting the weft carriers. substantially over their entire length. Then, during the backward movement, given that one end of the thread that comes. to be inserted by the left weft holder has been released, the hooking device of the right weft holder pulls this weft thread out of the hooking device of the left weft holder to pass it through the rest of the the length of the crowd, the actual length obtained in the neck.
the weft at the proper point allows both the length of the weft to extend slightly beyond the selvedge.
Laws of operation from the opposite or right side of the loom, the weft is engaged in the notch 367 and is thrown towards the center of the shed, after which this weft, which passes through the notch 367 and the along the lower part of the weft holder after exiting the large notch, indicated by the dotted lines in fig. 1, and which is taut, is engaged and retained in the hooking device of the left weft carrier.
The weft will be cut or released just before the transfer, as described above, and the backward movement of the weft carriers allows the hooking device of the left weft carrier to pull the weft out onto the rest. distance through the crowd and a slight distance beyond the line.
A little lint, fur or other rubbing material can be provided inside the weft hooking devices so that the weft cannot be pulled out too quickly, cannot escape when being pulled out. insertion stroke, nor become too loose to allow proper drive by the opposite weft hooking device to effect the transfer.
This packing has been designated by the number 374 in FIG. 4 which is enlarged to show the details of the weft hooking device comprising. the hook, the guide which is grooved and the metal wire barb which fits in the groove, but leaves enough space for the wire to pass through the weft hooking device, while not allowing its extraction except. as explained above.
