Process for the preparation of an aqueous solution of a complex metal compound. It has been found that an aqueous solution of a valuable complex metal compound is obtained if the complex copper compound of the formula, which is visually soluble in water, is obtained
EMI0001.0003
reacted in an aqueous medium with Moiioätlianolamin.
The aqueous solution contains a new, complex, metal compound that is stable in solution, which in turn contains monoethanolamine in complex bonds in addition to copper. The solution is colored blue and it gives strong, blue dyeings on cotton.
The copper compound of the above formula, which is used as starting material in the present process and which is sehwerlösliehe in water, can be obtained by the action of copper-releasing agents on the tetrazolated 3,3'-dioxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl with 2-ss- Oxyäthylamino-5-oxynaphtlialin-7-sulfonic acid produce available disazo dye. A manufacturing process for this disazo dye is described in Swiss Patent No. 232509.
The poorly soluble copper compound can also be prepared by adding the disazo dye obtainable by coupling tetrazotized 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl with 2-ß-oxyethylamino-5-oxyiiaphthylin-7-sulfonic acid treated with copper-releasing agents under such conditions that complex formation takes place with elimination of the methyl groups in the methoxy groups.
In both cases, it is advisable to use a copper tetrammine compound as the copper-releasing agent, with a higher conversion temperature (zz @, ecl.) Of course for the aforementioned conversion of the di- (o-oxy- o'-methoxy) -azo dye into the copper complex @ moderately about 850) and a longer time are required than for the coppering of the di- (o, o'-dioxy) -azo dye.
The implementation of the complex copper connection with the monoethanolamine takes place. in aqueous medium, conveniently using an excess of mono ätlianolamin, z. B. of at least as much rithanolamine as dye.
The complex copper compound obtained in this way, which in addition to the. Copper also contains ethanolamine in complex bonds, has the valuable property of being submicroscopically dispersed to truly dissolved in water. The copper compound is stable in aqueous solution; However, it disintegrates during drying or during dyeing, evidently with the exit of the base from the complex and regression of the sparingly soluble starting material.
Example: 1 part of the copper compound of the dye obtained by demethylating copper from 1 1M1 tetrazotized 3,3 = dimethoxy-4,
4'-diamino-diphenyl and 2 moles of 2-oxyethylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are boiled in 200 parts of water together with 2 parts of monoethanolamine. A clear solution is obtained, which can be used for dyeing cellulose-containing materials, for example, as follows: The solution is added to 2800 parts of 700 water, which \? Contains parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate.
After stirring briefly, 100 parts of cotton are shrunk and the temperature is increased. a quarter of an hour to cook. After 5 minutes who added 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate and after 20 minutes another 20 parts. After boiling for one hour, the goods are thoroughly rinsed and dried. The result is a pure, strongly greenish blue coloration with very good wash and light fastness.
