Zusatzpatent zum Hauptpatent Nr. ?73955.
Additional patent to main patent no.? 73955. Process for the preparation of an aqueous solution of a complex metal compound. It has been found that an aqueous solution of a valuable complex metal compound is obtained if the complex copper compound of the formula, which is sparingly soluble in water, is obtained
EMI0001.0004
reacted in an aqueous medium with monoethanolamine.
The aqueous solution contains a new, complex metal compound that is stable in solution, which in turn contains, in addition to copper, also .lonoethanolamine in complex bonds. The solution is dyed blue and it gives strong, reddish-tinged blue dyeings to cotton.
The in the present process as starting material, sparingly soluble in water copper compound of the above formula can be obtained by the action of copper-releasing agents on the by coupling of tetrazo-tated 3,3'-dioxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl with 7-oxynaphthalene-3- sulfonic acid in an alkali-hydroxide-alkaline medium to prepare disazo dye.
The sparingly soluble copper compound can also be prepared by the coupling of tetrazotized 3,3'-dimethoxy-4,4'-diaminodipheny 1 with. 1-oxynaphthalene-3-sulfonic acid available disazo dye is treated with copper-donating agents under such conditions that complex formation takes place with elimination of the methyl groups in the methoxy groups.
In both cases it is advisable to use a copper-tetrammine compound as the copper-releasing agent, although a higher reaction temperature is of course required for the aforementioned conversion of the di- (o-oxy-o'-methoxy) -azo dye into the copper complex (expediently about 850). and a longer time is required than for the coppering of the di- (o, o'-dioxy) azo dye. The implementation of the complex copper connection with the monoethanolamine takes place.
in an aqueous medium, expediently using an excess of monoethanolamine, z. B. of at least as much ethanolamine as dye.
The complex copper compound that can be obtained in this way, which in addition to the copper also contains ethane olamine in a complex bond, has the valuable property of being sub-microscopically dispersed to truly dissolved in water. The copper connection is. stable in aqueous solution; however, it disintegrates during drying or during dyeing, evidently with exit of the base from the complex and regression of the sparingly soluble starting material.
Example: 1 part of the copper compound of the dye from 1 mole of tetrazotized 3,3'-dioxv-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl and 2 moles of 1-oxy-naphthalin-3-sulfonic acid is 200 parts hot Poured over condensation water and boil the suspension after adding 2 parts of monoethanolamine. The result is a clear blue solution, from which the dye separates as a crystalline complex on cooling.
The stock solution thus obtained can be diluted with water to 3000 parts by volume and adding 2 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate to produce a dyebath, in which one enters at about 700 with 100 parts of pre-wetted cotton. The temperature is raised to boiling within half an hour and kept boiling for three quarters to an hour.
After cooking for five minutes, 15 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate are added and, after boiling for 20 minutes, a further 15 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate are added. When the dyeing is complete, the cotton is rinsed and dried thoroughly. A reddish blue coloration of very good washing and lightness resistance is obtained.
