Patentschrift Nr.246422 be schrieben.

Additional patent to main patent no. 273955. Process for the production of an aqueous solution of a complex metal compound. It has been found that an aqueous solution of a valuable complex metal compound is obtained if the in

Reacts in aqueous medium with monoethanolamine.
The aqueous solution contains a new complex metal compound which is stable in solution and which in turn contains monoethanolamine in a complex bond in addition to copper. The solution is colored blue and it gives strong blue colorations to cotton.
The copper compound of the above formula which is used as starting material in the present process and which is highly soluble in water can be obtained by the action of copper-releasing agents on the tetrazo- tiertein 3,3-dioxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl with 2-amino-5-oxynapli by coupling , thalin-7-sulfonic acid, ire available disazo dye.
A manufacturing process for this disazo dye is in Sehweiz. Patent No. 246422 be written.
The sparingly soluble copper compound can also be prepared by using the disazo dye obtainable by coupling tetrazotized 3,3-dimethoxy-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl with 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalen-7-sulfonic acid under such conditions, water-sehwerlÖsliehe complex copper compound binding the formula.
Treated with copper-releasing agents so that the complex formation takes place with elimination of the methyl groups in the methoxy groups.
In both cases it is advisable to use a copper-tetrammine compound as the copper-releasing agent, with a higher conversion rate for the aforementioned conversion of the di- (o-oxy- o'-methoxy) -azo dye into the copper complex Implementation temperature (expediently about 850) and a longer time are required than for the coppering of the di- (o, o'-dioxy) -azo dye.
The implementation of the complex Kupferver bond with the monoethanolamine takes place in aqueous Medhim, conveniently using an excess of monoethanolamine, z. B. of at least as much ethanolamine as dye.
The complex copper compound that can be obtained in this way, which in addition to the copper also contains ethanolamine in a complex bond, has the valuable property of being sub-microscopically dispersed to truly dissolved in water. The copper compound is stable in aqueous solution; however, it disintegrates on drying or ather on dyeing, evidently - with the exit of the base from the complex and reformation of the poorly soluble starting material.
Example: 1 Part of the copper compound of the dye obtained by demethylating copper from 1 moles of tetrazotized 3,3'-dimethoxy-4 , 4'-diamino-diplienyl and 2 moles of 2-amino-5-oxy-naphthalene-7-sulfonic acid are dissolved in 200 parts of water together with 2 parts of monoethanolamine. A clear solution is obtained
which can be used, for example, to dye cellulosic materials as follows: The solution is added to 2800 parts of water of 700 , which includes 2 parts of anhydrous Na-

Limsets in aqueous medium with monoethanolamine.
The aqueous solution contains a new complex metal compound, which in turn contains trium carbonate. After briefly stirring, 100 parts of cotton are shrunk and the temperature is brought to a boil within a quarter of an hour. After five minutes, 20 parts of crystallized sodium sulfate and after twenty minutes no more than 290 parts are added.
After boiling for an hour, the goods are thoroughly rinsed and dried. The result is a pure, greenish blue coloration with very good wash and lightness properties.
