Process for the preparation of a triazole series dye. It has been found that a triazole series dye can be prepared using the dye of the formula
EMI0001.0009

treated with oxidizing agents until the triazole is formed.
When dry, the dye obtained is a dark powder which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color and in dilute soda solution with a greenish color and colors cotton from a bath containing Glauber's salt in violet-brown tones, which when treated with copper salts are light and washfast Give black-brown.
To carry out the present process, all oxidizing agents can be used which are capable of oxidizing the o-aminoazo grouping to form the triazole ring. An ammoniacal copper salt solution is preferably used. Since in this case copper complex compounds of the dye are formed, the product obtained has to be decuppered in a further operation, which can also follow the oxidation. This can be done in a manner known per se, e.g.
B. by means of hydrogen sulfide or hydrogen sulfide releasing agents, such as sulfides, especially soluble sulfides, happen.
The 4-amino-4'-osy-3,3'-dicarboxy-1,1'- s azobenzene required to build up the above dye can be obtained by coupling diazo-tated? -Nitro - anrinu-l-benzoic acid with saline
