EMI0002.0003
Additional patent to main patent No. 215941. Process for the production of a dye of the triazole series. It has been found that a triazole series dye can be prepared using the dye of the formula
EMI0001.0008
treated with oxidizing agents until the triazole is formed.
When dry, the dye obtained is a brown powder which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with red, in water with a yellow-brown color and dyes cotton from a bath containing Glauber's salt in yellow-brown shades which give a pale brown when treated with copper salts.
To carry out the present process, all oxidizing agents can be used which are capable of oxidizing the o-aminoazo grouping to form the triazole ring. An ammoniacal copper salt solution is preferably used. Since in this case copper complex compounds of the dye are formed, the product obtained here has to be decuppered in a further operation, which can also immediately follow the oxidation. This can be done in a manner known per se, e.g. B.
by means of mineral acids, such as hydrochloric acid, or by means of hydrogen sulfide or hydrogen sulfide-releasing agents, such as sulfides, in particular soluble sulfides. <I> Example: </I> 5 parts of the trisodium salt of the dye of the formula
EMI0002.0003
are dissolved in 250 parts of hot water and at <B> 95 "</B> an ammonia-alkaline copper solution consisting of 6.25 parts of crystalline copper sulfate, 25 parts of water and 18 parts of 24 ammonia solution are added.
The mixture is left to stir at 90-95 for about 4 hours. The course of the oxidation can be followed by taking samples; The starting dye dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color that turns red. To convert the copper-containing to the copper-free compound, boil for 6 hours after adding 104 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid.
After filtering off and washing thoroughly with water, the dye is converted into the sodium salt in the usual way by reacting with soda or sodium hydroxide solution.
