Additional patent to main patent no. 280185. Process for the production of a copper-containing azo dye from the stilbene range. It has been found that one arrives at a full, copper-containing azo dye of the stilbene series if one
EMI0001.0007
and on the other hand with the amino monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0010
condenses, copper-releasing agent can act.
The new dye forms a dark powder that dissolves in water with a brown color and dyes cotton in lightfast, yellowish brown tones.
The condensation of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid with the aminoazo dyes, which are expediently used in the form of alkali salts, is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium and in the presence of alkali hydroxide.
Good results, which can be obtained by mixing 4,4'-di-nitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid on the one hand with the disazo dye @ of the formula nisse, are obtained, for example, if the substances to be reacted with one another are diluted, e.g. B. 2- to 8%, alkali hydroxydlöstnmg for a long time, z. B. 5 to 24 hours, at an elevated temperature, e.g.
B. in an open vessel at the boiling point of the reaction mixture and under reflux cooling or at even higher temperatures and under pressure.
As a copper-releasing agent in the present process, for. B. salts of mono- or divalent copper such as copper (I) chloride or copper (II) sulfate come into consideration, and also compounds that contain copper in complex bonds. In particular special copper amine complexes are suitable for this purpose, such. B. from ammonia, alkylamines such as ethylamine, morpholine, pyridine or piperidine available complex copper compounds.
If necessary, the treatment with the copper-releasing agents can be carried out in the presence of suitable additives. The following may be mentioned as such: Bases such as ammonium and organic bases, preferably an excess of the base already mentioned in the example:
22.5 parts of the disazo dye of the formula
EMI0002.0002
(made from diazotized 2-aminobenzene-1-carboxylic acid, alkaline coupled with 2-amino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid, further diazotized and acid-coupled with 1-amino-3-methylbenzene)
with 22 parts of the monoazo dye from diazotized 2-aminonaphthalin-4,8-disLLlfonsäure and 1-amino-2,5-dimethylbenzene and with 24 parts of disodium salt of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2, 2'-disulfonic acid condenses in 1200 parts of water with the addition of 120 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution,
by keeping the reaction mixture for 23 hours with stirring and reflux cooling.
By adding sodium chloride and neutralizing part of the excess alkali with hydrochloric acid, the condensation product formed is separated out and filtered off. Molecule of the copper amine complex, which may be used, is included. To convert the compound into the complex copper, the condensation product is dissolved in 1000 parts of water with the addition of some ammonia at 900.
A mixture of 100 parts of a 2N copper sulfate solution and 100 parts of 25% strength ammonia solution is added to this solution and the whole is kept at 750 for half an hour while stirring. Then the complex copper compound is separated from the solution using sodium chloride and dried.
