<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Process for the preparation of fiber dyes containing amino groups and products obtained".
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of dyes which are suitable for coloring fibers containing amino groups.
Weak acid binding wool dyes are prepared which contain sulfonic acid, carboxyl, hydroxyl or sulfonamide groups to improve solubility, mainly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the form of sodium salts or which have an alkaline final adjustment. This appears necessary because a correct dissolution of predominantly high molecular weight, slightly acid binding dyes of known nature is possible in a replaceable volume only in the presence of hydroxyl ions.
For a disturbance-free application of anionic dye in the form of their sodium salts, a good dissolution in boiling water is required before the start of dyeing, for which it is necessary to count for approximately 1 kg of dye. 30 liters of water,
The aim of the invention is thus to prepare dyes [the dissolution of which is carried out essentially in a simpler manner! and not in the alkaline domain. The problem is to do this by easily executable modification of already known dyes.
It has now been found that dyes for dyeing fibers containing amino groups can be prepared using a substantially simplified application technique by cationically blocking, by attachment of weakly or strongly cationic compounds, dyes which contain sulfonic acid, carboxyl, hydroxyl and / or sulfonamide groups as solubilizing groups.
This is carried out as follows with the dye, occurring after the coupling in a slightly acaline or slightly acidic suspension, a slightly or strongly cationic reacting compound is added and the adduct is formed by increasing the acidity. temperature up to a maximum of 60 ° C. The dye is then precipitated in finely divided form by the addition of strongly or weakly dissociated acids, separated by filtration and dried. It is also possible to dissolve the isolated and dried dye after coupling in the usual way and, in this form, '' react it with the cationic compounds and then
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to precipitate again with acid as already described and to treat.
A variety of compounds are suitable for cationic blocking. From compounds which can already be considered almost non-ionogenic to strongly cationic products like dicyandiamides, all weakly to strongly cationic compounds can be used more or less well.
The binding or better the fixation to the dye must be reversible as long as this is again dissociated by heat in the dyeing process.
Oxyethylated fatty alcohols, such as for example Stenol with a chain length of about 16 to 17 carbon atoms and a degree of oxyethylation of about 70 (abbreviated FAST 70), are very suitable for the process according to the invention. ), polyglycolic ethers with a degree of oxyethylation of about 150, (approximately those known as @@ Oxydwachs), or the condensation products from dicyandiamide, formaldehyde and ammonia (approximately the products, as known under the trademark Wofafix). In addition, oxyethylation products of alkylsulfonates, alkylarylsulfonates or condensation products of fatty acid amides are also suitable.
Due to the fact that the fixation or the bonding in acid medium can also be carried out by the use of strongly dissociated mineral acids or that after the end of the reaction an acid precipitate is also possible, the dye acquires a value of. pH advantageous for dyeing wool.
The dyes prepared in this way exhibit good dispersibility even in a cold aqueous medium. The dispersion turns on heating to a clear solution. As a result, dissolution in the hot state or in the boiling state of the dye and thus the related expenditure in energy, time and work is avoided. Whereas previously it took for 1 kg of dye in the form of salt about 30 liters of water for dissolution,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
according to the invention, it is possible to introduce the dye dispersed in a little water or also without dispersing it beforehand to introduce it into the bath without further preparation.
Has . lower bath temperatures the material to be dyed regularly permeates the dye dispersion, by heating the bath the dye begins to slowly go into solution as a result of the dissociation of the fixation or the bond and thus guarantees an equal dyeing of the material to be tinted. Use of certain agents is thus in most cases, and therefore in most cases not necessary. This constitutes another advantage of the process according to the invention.
In addition, it has been found that wool dyes with dyes in which the solubilizing groups have been blocked as indicated above, always provide better values of rub resistance than the comparison dyes. with dyes which are in the form of pure sodium salts, but otherwise have the same constitution.
This finding is surprising and was not predictable since it is generally known that both the presence of unbuffered, strongly dissociated mineral acids and cationic compounds in the dye bath with dyes. High molecular weight anionics for wool leads to dyeing difficulties, which also have a particularly adverse effect on rub resistance.
The following examples explain the invention without, however, limiting its scope.
EXAMPLE 1
A solution of dl, Acid Red 85 / CI 22245 is completely precipitated with sulfuric acid. On the dye thus isolated, an oxyethylated fatty alcohol with a chain length of 16 to 17 carbon atoms and a degree of oxyethylated is allowed to act in aqueous medium.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
lation of about 70 (abbreviated FAST 70).
The dye-FAST-70 fixing product thus obtained is dispersed in cold water and is thus introduced into the dye bath. The dyeing is carried out analogously in the usual dye.
Exhausted in 1/1 RTT on woolen yarn, the dye provides in the form known as sodium salt 'a friction resistance value of 3. On the other hand, as a dye-FAST-70 compound, a friction resistance value is obtained. from 4 to 5.
EXAMPLE 2
The product of the trade name "Chromechtschwarz 64" (established from the constituents "Chromogenschwarzbraun, Chromogenmarineblau and Metachromgrun G") is dissolved in the form of salt in water, it is reacted with a product "Wofafix WWS" at strongly cationic activity and precipitated with dilute sulfuric acid. The dye which has precipitated is filtered off and dried and introduced in this form into the dye bath. Dyeing and chrome plating is carried out in the usual way for solid chromium dyes.
For woolen threads colored with a deep black tint, a rub resistance value of 4 was obtained.
The comparison with "Chromechtschwarz 64" (unmodified) gives, for a dye of the same depth of coloring, a value of rub resistance of 3.
EXAMPLE 3
A black dye for wool blocked in the solubilizing groups is obtained when one mole of 4-nitro-2-amidophenol is diazotized in a routine manner and is coupled with a mixture consisting of 0.7 mole of 2- acid. phenylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulfonque and 0.3 mole of 2-phenylamino-5-naphthol-6-sulfonic acid in a slightly alkaline medium. After the end of the coupling, the blocking of the solubilizing groups is undertaken by adding
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
FAST-70 (7 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of dye) in the reaction mixture.
The dye is precipitated at about 55 ° C. by the addition of dilute sulfuric acid (pH # 2).
The product thus obtained can be universally introduced as a post-chromium dye in the solid dyeing of wool and has the advantage over known brands of superior rub resistance (4 to 5) as well as simplified technology. application (must not be dissolved at the boil). The following example shows the application.
EXAMPLE 4
18 kg of pure wool from cross-yarn spools (combed yarn) are dyed on a crossed-yarn winder as follows: 900 g of the dye prepared according to Example 3 are suspended by introducing 1 liter of cold water and under this undissolved, / form, / is introduced into a dye bath at 60 C with 18 kg of coils of crossed wire, 360 cm3 of 30% acetic acid and 2 kg of sodium sulfate. The apparatus is then left to operate for 10 minutes at the established circulation.
The temperature of the bath is then raised over a period of 20 minutes until it boils and after 20 minutes of boiling 360 cm3 of 80% formic acid are added. The mixture is still tinted for 20 minutes at the boiling point, and the bath is then cooled to 70 ° C., 180 g of potassium bi-chromate are added, the bath is again heated to boiling temperature and chromium is boiled for 30 minutes. Then rinse and treat as usual. This results in a very even deep black color with very good fastness.
The application of the same dye in the form of a sodium salt not in accordance with the invention must be carried out as follows; 900 g of dye are transformed into a paste with cold soft water and then covered with 30 liters of hot water,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
which is then boiled. To accelerate the dissolution we shake violently. The dissolved dye is then added to the dye bath heated to 50 ° C. through a filter cloth or a sieve with 18 kg of cross-wire spools, 720 cm3 of 30% acetic acid, 720 g of "Wolysin MF". (equalizing agent based on a condensation product starting from oxyethylated alkylphenols @ hexamethylene tetramine and triethanolamine) and 2 kg of sodium sulfate.
After a period of operation of the apparatus of 10 minutes, the bath is slowly brought to the boil over a period of 50 to 60 minutes. After a boiling time of 20 minutes 360 cm3 of 80% formic acid are added, and after a further 20 minutes the bath is cooled to 70 ° C., and 180 g of potassium dichromate are added.
Chrome plating is carried out analogously to the cationically blocked dye.
In order to obtain good uniformity and even dyeing on the crossed yarn spools, as indicated above, a leveling agent should be introduced and the bath temperature slowly raised.
On the other hand, for the blocked cationic dye, no leveling agent is required and the temperature of the dye bath can rise considerably more quickly, which allows a shortening of the dyeing time. Because the blocked dye reacts acidically, a lower amount of acid is also required for the dyeing.
EXAMPLE 5,
The dye "Modant Blue 7 / C.I. 17940" appears after coupling in a slightly acidic reaction solution. Blocking of the solubilizing groups is caused by the addition of an alkylpolyglycol ether with a degree of oxyethylation of about 150 (Oxydwachs
A, commercial product of Buna). For blocking 100 parts by weight of pure dye 10 parts by weight of pure Oxydwachs A are required.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
By adding dilute sulfuric acid, the dye is precipitated at elevated temperature. Precipitation occurs in a pH range of 2 to 3.
The dye thus obtained can be introduced into the dye bath in the undissolved state, transformed into a paste or pulverized in the form of powder. By its properties it behaves like the dye in the form of its sodium balance, however it has compared to this one the advantage of a simplified technology of use,
CLAIMS
