Abstract
La presente se refiere a una composición de medio para la producción de toxina botulínica y más específicamente, a una composición de medio para el cultivo de Clostridium sp. capaz de producir toxina botulínica. La composición del medio de la presente comprende al menos una peptona de origen vegetal seleccionada del grupo compuesto por un hidrolizado de guisante de jardín, un hidrolizado de semilla de algodón y un hidrolizado de gluten de trigo. Cuando se utiliza el medio de acuerdo con la presente, que contiene peptonas de origen vegetal y minerales para el cultivo de Clostridium botulinum, la tasa de crecimiento de la bacteria en el medio es alrededor de 1,5 - 2 veces mayor a la de los medios utilizados en la actualidad. Además, cuando se produce toxina botulínica mediante el cultivo de la bacteria en el medio, se puede prevenir la infección con encefalopatía espongiforme transmisible (EET) o lo similar bloqueando la introducción de componentes de origen animal.
