Abstract

La presente descripción se refiere al mapeo de alta resolución y donación del gen candidato de Rf4, un restaurador del gen de fertilidad de maíz que restaura la fertilidad a la esterilidad masculina citoplásmica tipo C. La descripción también se refiere a marcadores moleculares que se ligan firmemente o residen dentro del gen Rf4. En algunas formas de realización, se proporcionan métodos por los cuales se pueden producir semillas híbridas a partir de los cruzamientos de una planta masculina que comprende marcadores moleculares de ácido nucleico que se ligan o que residen entro del gen Rf4 y una planta femenina que porta el CMS tipo C.Reivindicación 1: Un método para identificar una planta que comprende un gen restaurador funcional para la esterilidad masculina citoplásmica tipo C del maíz, el método que comprende: aislar moléculas de ácido nucleico de una planta; y analizar las moléculas de ácido nucleico aislado para determinar una molécula de ácido nucleico que comprende una secuencia de nucleótidos seleccionada del grupo que consiste en las SEQ ID Nº 1 - 197 y los marcadores mencionados como polimorfismo ID nº 1 - 106 de la Tabla 3, o un equivalente de esta, donde la presencia de al menos una molécula de ácido nucleico que comprende una secuencia de nucleótidos seleccionada del grupo que consiste en las SEQ ID Nº 1 - 197 y los marcadores mencionados como polimorfismo ID nº 1 - 106 de la Tabla 3, o un equivalente de estos, es indicadora de un gen restaurador funcional para esterilidad masculina citoplásmica tipo C del maíz.
