Abstract

GENE RF4 RESTAURADOR DA ESTERILIDADE MASCULINA CITOPLASMÁTICA (CMS) DE TIPO C DO MILHO, ÁCIDO NUCLEICO E MÉTODOS PARA IDENTIFICAÇÃO DE UMA PLANTA COMPREENDENDO O REFERIDO GENE, ISOLAMENTO DO MESMO, RESTAURAR A FERTILIDADE NO MILHO, PRODUÇÃO DE SEMENTES DE MILHO HÍBRIDAS, PRODUÇÃO DE UM ORGANISMO GENETICAMENTE MANIPULADO, ISOLAMENTO DE UM HOMÓLOGO DE RF4 DE UMA PLANTA E INTRODUÇÃO DO GENE RF4-BHLH DE MILHO EM UM ORGANISMO HOSPEDEIRO. A presente invenção refere-se ao mapeamento de alta resolução e clonagem de gene candidato de Rf4, um gene restaurador de fertilidade do milho que restaura a fertilidade à esterilidade masculina citoplasmática de tipo C. A descrição também se refere a marcadores moleculares que estão firmemente ligados a ou residem dentro do gene Rf4. Em algumas modalidades, apresentam-se métodos pelos quais sementes híbridas podem ser produzidas a partir de cruzamentos de uma planta masculina compreendendo marcadores moleculares de ácido nucleico que estejam ligados ou que residam dentro do gene Rf4 e uma planta feminina portadora de CMS tipo C.
